If Your Congressman Voted "Yes"

Where were your conservative republicans from 2000-2006 when the GOP doubled the debt? They were forced to go along with Bush/Delay. Here is a little explanation on how things worked back then:

DeLay was known to "primary" Republicans who resisted his votes (i.e., to threaten to endorse and to support a Republican primary challenge to the disobedient representative.)

Employing a method known as "catch and release," DeLay allowed centrist or moderately conservative Republicans to take turns voting against controversial bills. If a representative said that a bill was unpopular in his district, then DeLay would ask him to vote for it only if his vote were necessary for passage; if his vote were not needed, then the representative would be able to vote against the party without reprisal.

What a lot of you don't know about is the games that are played in Washington. You all seem to understand they are all liars but then here you are believing they are sincere with their votes. It's amazing to me.

Don't kid yourself. Both sides do it. The foolish person is the one that smugly says, "I don't care about party, I vote for the person."

The truth is that people in Congress vote party line more than 80% of the time. Even the "real Independent" people. If they are from a "safe" district, then you can increase that to over 95% of the time.

I feel ya. My Rep is retiring and one of my Senators. The other senator is Webb, if he votes against this I'll swim the Atlantic ocean. But, I wasted my time and wrote them all anyway.

The Senator that's up in my area is sounding too much like the other side. Sadly Smith has come out tying himself to the left more than his base. The Republicans here wonder if he's still a Republican at heart.

I think some news program needs to come out with all the shit that happened between 2000-2006 for many of you to fully realize how we got here.

You people holding out, not trying to put all the blame on Bush and his republicans all have very very short term memories.

But I don't blame you. I hear shit I forgot all the time and I say, "oh yea, I forgot they did that"

You guys have to start listening to NPR and Air America Radio. They tell you when the GOP slips bullshit into a bill. ABC and NBC don't tell you about the pork/earmarks that get put into bills. That's why they are not liberal, fair and balanced and they suck.

They help the politicians by not giving us the details.

Let's not go overboard here sport. Lest you think the Dems are blameless. When the Repubs tried to reform oversight of the GSEs (Fannie and Freddie), who was leading the charge to block it in 2003? Barney Frank and Chris Dodd

Reform efforts in 2005 and 2006? The same Dems saying there is no crisis here. The Repubs just don't want poor people to have houses to live in like they do. The rat bastards, typical Repubs, just want all the wealth for themselves. You know the normal class warfare BS we get from those guys.

So, you can blame it on Bush if you want to, but Frank and Dodd were holding his hands as they went over the cliff.

So who tells us when the Democrats slip bullshit into a bill? We have to figure that one out on our own.

Rush, O'reilly, Meet the Press, Face the Nation, Lou Dobbs, Hannity, Glenn Beck, Savage, Drudge and that fag with the bow ties.

Trust me, you are not being shorted of conservative talk. That's why we need to bring the fairness doctrine back.

There was an unwritten rule between 2000-2006 that every show that had 1 liberal on had to have 2 conservatives to go against him. That's bullshit. And it is going to stop. Remember Ann Coulter was given a voice? You should be embarrassed.

Randi Rhodes beats Rush Limbaugh head to head yet Clearchannel won't syndicate her. Fascinating.

Finally Rachel Maddow has a show on MSNBC. You will learn stuff from her that you won't hear anywhere else too. Also watch Keith Olbermann. THEN come tell me if you think they are wrong or bias.

No one realizes when they are brainwashed. It takes someone like me to point it out to you. Now you can do with it what you want.

You're fucking insane if you think I listen to any of the people you named above for my political insight. I read the facts and come to my own conclusions. I'm sorry if you need your opinions spoon-fed to you by the brainwashed Obamabots, but the rest of us like to be informed.

:cuckoo:

If I hadn't already neg repped you for being a fucking psycho, I'd pos rep you out of pity at this point.

I'll have to get back to you on this one as I do not have an answer off the top of my head, but I do have an idea on what I will say. But I don't want to speak without all the facts so let me get back to you on this one. First I would say that we didn't have any power in 2003. I don't know how much power Dobbs and Frank had at that time. Did they filabuster something? Please provide me details so I can look into it.

So you don't listen to the news? Any news? Then you are uninformed big time. I listen to all kinds of news. I am a news junkie. News on the way in, on the way home and when I get home. Then I watch porn. LOL.

I didn't say I don't listen to the news. I said I don't listen to talk show hosts like Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilley, Coulter, and Maddow. They can all go fuck themselves. They're no more newscasters than you are. All they do is spew their own ideals and shoot down the other side. It's pathetic.

In 2003, Republicans controlled both branches of Congress (108th) and the White House. What happened to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac regulatory reform under Republican leadership? Nothing.

Here's what I found when I searched THOMAS for the phrase Fannie Mae for the 108th Congress (2003-2004): eight bills .... but only six appear to relate to this topic, per their title. Of those six, only one was introduced after the White House weighed in (at least rhetorically) in September ... and the prime sponsor of that bill was a Democrat. The other bills seem to have resulted from the July scandal. No bill moved out of committee.

H.R.2022 introduced on 7 May 2003 by Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT,4).
Title: To extend the registration and reporting requirements of the Federal securities laws to certain housing-related Government-sponsored enterprises, and for other purposes.
Latest Major Action: 5/23/2003 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises.
H.R.2117 introduced 23 May 2003 by Rep. Pete Fortney (D-CA,13).
Title: To amend the Federal National Mortgage Association Charter Act and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation Act to remove certain competitive advantages granted to the housing-related government-sponsored enterprises relative to other secondary mortgage market enterprises, and for other purposes.
Latest Major Action: 5/23/2003 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises.
H.R.2575 introduced on 24 June 2003 by Rep. Richard H Baker (R-LA,6).
Title: To reform the regulation of certain housing-related Government-sponsored enterprises, and for other purposes.
Latest Major Action: 9/25/2003 House committee/subcommittee actions. Status: Committee Hearings Held.
H.R.2803 introduced on 21 July 2003 by Rep. Edward R Royce (R-CA,40).
Title: To establish the Office of Housing Finance Oversight in the Department of the Treasury to ensure the financial safety and soundness of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal home loan banks.
Latest Major Action: 8/4/2003 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises.
H.R.2897 introduced on 25 July 2003 by Rep. Julia Carson (D-IN,7)
Title: To end homelessness in the United States.
Latest Major Action: 8/25/2003 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity.
S.1508, introduced 31 July 2003 by Sen Chuck Hagel (R-NE).
Title: A bill to address regulation of secondary mortgage market enterprises, and for other purposes.
Latest Major Action: 4/1/2004 Senate committee/subcommittee actions. Status: Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Ordered to be reported with an amendment in the nature of a substitute favorably.
S.1656, introduced 23 September 2003 by Sen Jon S. Corzine (D-NJ).
Title: A bill to address regulation of secondary mortgage market enterprises, and for other purposes.
Latest Major Action: 9/25/2003 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
H.R.3507 introduced 18 November 2003 by Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA,27).
Title: To expand homeownership opportunities in States having high housing costs.
Latest Major Action: 1/2/2004 Referred to House subcommittee. Status: Referred to the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises.
Clearly, in 2003 and 2004 the issue of finance reform was not a priority of the White House or Congressional Republicans.

I call bullshit. I say the GOP knew this was going to happen, just like they knew in the 90's that Bush would start a war with Iraq. This was just a move to cover their ass. Say they were going to do something about it.

The Dems had ZERO power in 2003.

I have other people smarter than me looking into this to show you why it's a lie too. I'll have more for you tomorrow.

Sealybobo, the information you are getting are the voices of the elite motherfuckers (<your words). They use them to divide Americans. Segment us into voting blocs which puts their puppets (see Congress, see Representatives, see President, see Future Presidents, see Past Presidents, see past Congress, see future Congress, ....) to represent the interest of a few. Why does it cost hundreds of millions of dollars to elect a person to a 400k seat? You need to do these fundraisers to meet these movers/shakers. Elite motherfuckers fund the news outlets. We happen to have the charitable left- right- ist bloggers who work to put these monkeys into cages (Washington). They are part of the cycle. Why is it we only elect democrats or republicans. Seems like a cartel/monopoly.

So next time you go on MSNBC, Fox News, radio talk show host, just remember you are reading what the elite MFers want you to read. They toss you a bone, particularly a leftist bone, you fetch. Then you bark for it to toss you another bone. You fetch. Next, it teaches you how to sit down. You sit down. Then you begin to treat it like your master.

Sealy, all I can tell you is you need to stop wasting time listening to Info-tainment and thinking you are learning something. You listed a lot of people up there, all infotainers. You will not LEARN from them, none of them. At most, one of them might say something that will spark you to look something up and learn, but that's about it.

Original sources. Only look at original sources. Otherwise all you get is what somebody else thinks about the issue.

Yea, Democrats created the gays, guns and god wedge issues to divide America.

Of course YOU do. The Republicans could all resign their seats and turn the entire government over to Democrats, and you'd still be unhappy. You need to get the fuck out of the country if you hate the way it's run so much.

Randi Rhodes always says don't believe her and she provides original sources on her site. Or I can go look them up myself with the google.

I do the same with Rush Limbaugh and find him to be a liar. Same with O'Reilly. If not a lie, spin.

No, the Republicans had control of everything for 6 years and actually, more people did leave the fucking country for Canada, Mexico or Europe. Including all our fucking companies you god damn fool!

I guess American companies took your advice to love her or leave her. They left. And you should leave. Why would I leave when I'm about to get my wish of complete Democratic control.

Then I'll go on the defensive like you are now.

Yea, Democrats created the gays, guns and god wedge issues to divide America.

That's why they created the republican party. If you get tired of one side, you jump to other side. Like some kind of wicked cycle. When a political party in the Executive doesn't do good, you exchange it with the other. Repeat process.

If y’all can find a copy of THE GREATEST-EVER BANK ROBBERY by Martin Mayer, I highly recommend it. The book chronicles how the Resolution Trust “solution” to the S&L crisis in the 1980s enabled Bush’s family and friends to make out like bandits after thrifts like Silverado in Denver failed. Neil Mallon Bush was on their board, and the bailout cost taxpayers $1 billion.

Remember Charles Keating at Lincoln Savings in Arizona? One of his errand boys in the Senate was none other than John McCain who opined, “land values are skyrocketing” just as they were beginning to collapse. Mayer says, “McCain concealed for months the fact that he had accepted free rides on Keating’s jets for himself, his family, their baby-sitter ~ and had taken vacations at Keating’s Bahamian paradise.”

Deja vu all over again!

See what happens? You posted a blog entry. I found that last week. But you know what I did? I went to Thomas and I did my own searches. You know what I found? McCain co-sponsoring legislation way back then to regulate Fannie and Freddie.

New Agency Proposed to Oversee Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae

By STEPHEN LABATON
Published: September 11, 2003

Reflecting the changing political climate, both Fannie Mae and its leading rivals applauded the administration's package. The support from Fannie Mae came after a round of discussions between it and the administration and assurances from the Treasury that it would not seek to change the company's mission.

After those assurances, Franklin D. Raines, Fannie Mae's chief executive, endorsed the shift of regulatory oversight to the Treasury Department, as well as other elements of the plan.

New York Times Article

So your blogger friend missed this one. And, to say that in a closely divided house, the minority has NO power is an OVER statement. The problem was that some Repubs, would not vote for it and the Dems were voting party line.
