If this man had had a gun, he might be alive today....8 girls stabbed him with knives and murdered him in Canada...

This is one of the important reasons we have the 2nd Amendment in the U.S.....violent criminals don't need guns to rape, rob, beat, stab, or murder you....you may very well need a gun to prevent the attack...

The group of teenage girls, some as young as 13, allegedly “swarmed” a man living in a shelter and stabbed him to death. The victim, a 59-year-old man who had been living in a shelter, has not been identified as police are still notifying his family members. The man was found with multiple stab wounds shortly after 12 a.m. on the morning of December 18 when police received a call about an assault, Toronto police said in a press releaseearlier this month. The victim was taken to a hospital but died of his injuries.

The knowledge that if you try this against another human being, and that person may very well shoot and kill you......tends to discourage this sort of barbarity......
Turdeau is rounding up all the knives in Canada as we speak.

I carry at least one gun every single day.

I've been a potential victim of violent crime twice.

The key word there being "potential"...
I carry whenever I go near one of the ghetto shitholes like Democrat run inner city Tampa or Orlando. Sometimes when we go out at night I will carry if I remember to do it.

I live in a fairly safe area and in my life (born when Harry Truman was President) I have never been the victim of a crime nor has any of my relatives or friends. So I am not compelled to feel a need for protection all the time.

Living in Florida my general apparel most of the time are shorts and pull over shirt. Being tall most of my shirts do not cover my waist adequately whenever I move around a lot so waist carry is a little conspicuous. However, my Sig 365 fits into a pocket nicely.

Also, I live in a state with millions of people that do carry. I suspect when I go to restaurant there will be several other people carrying.

It has nothing to do with a city being democrat or Republican.

My area, St Johns County, is fairly safe but, in the last ten years, I've also attacked twice in St Johns County...

The hard crime areas are usually these ghettos in the Democrat controlled big city shitholes.

Where I live is a conservative area with very few crimes. 30 miles away is Tampa with lots of crime and the Mayor and city council are all Democrats. The Democrat District Attorney was recently removed by DeSantis for being soft on crime.

However, to be prudent I probably should carry more.

Just imagine I've got big guns to defend myself. But those 8 teens also have guns (& probably...grenades). Well, I'm not quite sure whether or not to fight( or to run ). Guns are not a big help in some situations.

And I still don't know anything about the criminal motives. What did they want? Why did they kill the old man? Just for fun? hate crime? lol. So I don't think I need a gun at the moment. :)

Maybe it`s you? I`m 69 years old and have never needed a gun.

Good for you. This dude obviously needed a gun that day. When he woke up that morning, do you think he knew he was going to need a gun later that day?

Do you know if you are going to need a gun today, tomorrow or next week?

Hence, that is why some people carry a gun with them for self defense.

If they had guns, you having a gun could still have made them walk away, since a few pounds of pressure on your trigger, on your gun, could end their lives or put them in the hospital...that is the deterrent effect of victims having a gun......most criminals do not want a gun fight, they want to abuse an unarmed victim...when the victim can do just as much damage, the criminal tends to look elsewhere....and it doesn't matter if there were 8 of them, each of them is an individual who weighs the odds of being injured or killed on their own.....

This is what anti-gun fanatics don't understand about a gun as a tool of self defense....

Violent crime can happen anywhere....but it is more likely to happen, and in larger numbers in cities governed with the beliefs of democrat party politicians.......attacking the police to the point they can't or won't engage criminals......and then releasing the most violent criminals over and over again.....two direct causes of the recent massive spike in violent crime. Then, throw in their social welfare policies that create and support fatherless homes....and you have the incubator of gangs and crime and poverty.

Giving everyone a gun is a Republican thing. Do you think that no armed person has never been killed?

No......we believe that normal, law abiding citizens have a Right to own and carry a gun for self defense....the dangerously mentally ill, adjudicated so by an actual legal process, and the dangerous criminal, do not have a Right to own or carry a gun.

Armed people are murdered all the time, they just have the ability to fight for their lives with the most effective tool if they have a gun and know how to use it......

This fails as a strawman fallacy and confirmation bias fallacy.

Everyone in jail was a normal, law abiding citizen before they weren`t. How stupid are you?

Whenever I’m homeless and living in a shelter I try to carry my gun. Of course I leave my big guns wrapped in plastic and buried in my special secret hiding place. Sometimes the shelter monitors notice my little 38 revolver and for some reason won’t let me inside the shelter! Those bastards don’t understand I have rights too!

They even get security and threaten to confiscate my knives and pistol.

So mostly I live outdoors in a homemade shelter under a bridge. There I feel safe. In my state it’s legal to carry, and once you get a carry license they never seem to notice when you lose your job & home and your “friends” tell you to get the fuck out of their trailers. Life just isn’t fair.

Can’t say I’ve ever been bothered by eight girls — but I can always hope it may happen one day!

I hear the local commie-fascists (must be “demonrats”) have passed a law allowing them to take away my pistol — just because I talk a little wild when I’m off my medications. What is this world coming to? And what about those crazy girls? Should I worry?

The truth....

http://www.jurist.org/forum/2013/02/don-kates-crimonology-firearms.php

The whole corpus of criminological research dating back to the 1890'sshows murderers "almost uniformly have a long history of involvement in criminal behavior," and that "[v]irtually all" murderers and other gun criminals have prior felony records — generally long ones.

While only 15 percent of Americans have criminal records, roughly 90 percent of adult murderers have prior adult records — exclusive of their often extensive juvenile records — with crime careers of six or more adult years including four major felonies. Gerald D. Robin, writing for the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, notes that, unlike ordinary gun owners, "the average murderer turns out to be no less hardened a criminal than the average robber or burglar."

The vast majority of violent crime in the US occurs amongst those that live a criminal lifestyle. In fact, this study showed that the average homicide victim, in Boston, over a four year period, had been criminally charged themselves an average of 12 times prior to their death.
This doesn’t mean that they are good or bad people, or that they are somehow less deserving of justice, but it does mean they were no strangers to crime themselves. As they say, violence begets violence.

That particular study also broke down the circumstances that lead to their death. In total, 66.5% of the situations were gang related, and 15.9% were drug related. Only 13.1% were a personal dispute, with less than 5% between robbery and domestic violence combined.
Now this is only relevant to Boston during the years of 2010-2014, but I would be surprised if Chicago, Baltimore, or other violent areas are much different.

A study finds that suspects in violent crime in the District share a lot of characteristics.

The National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform looked at the numbers for homicides and nonfatal shooting in D.C. in 2019 and 2020, and found that “most gun violence is tightly concentrated on a small number of very high-risk young Black male adults that share a common set of risk factors.”

Those factors include involvements in street crews, a previous criminal justice history and connection to a recent shooting. Often, they’ve been the victims of crime themselves. While the motive for the shooting “may not be a traditional gang war,” the report says, “often shootings are precipitated by a petty conflict over a young woman, a simple argument, or the now-ubiquitous social media slight.”
---------
More than 90% of victims and suspects in 2019 and 2020 were male and about 96% were Black.

The study also found that another 86% of victims and suspects have been involved with the criminal justice system and the average age of victims is 31, while the average age of suspects is 27 years old.

They found that, in terms of prior arrests, “victims and suspects were remarkably similar.”

Bonus content.......the actual study...

About 96 percent of victims and suspects in both homicides and nonfatal shootings were Black, despite Black residents comprising only 46 percent of the overall population in the District (Table 1).
-----
Approximately 86 percent of homicide victims and suspects were known to the criminal justice system prior to the incident. Among all victims and suspects, about 46 percent had been previously incarcerated (Figure 2).
At least 23.3 percent of all homicide victims and suspects were under active supervision (i.e., CSOSA, PSA, or DYRS)1. At least 64 percent of all victims and suspects had been under any prior or active supervision and at least 76% of homicide suspects had active or prior supervision.
------
Overall, most victims and suspects with prior criminal offenses had been arrested about 11 times for about 13 different offenses by the time of the homicide. This count only refers to adult arrests and juvenile arrests were not included.
-------

In Washington, DC, most gun violence is tightly concentrated on a small number of very high risk young Black male adults that share a common set of risk factors, including: involvement in street crews/groups; significant criminal justice history including prior or active community supervision; often prior victimization; and a connection to a recent shooting (within the past 12 months).
While the majority of people involved in shootings, as victim or suspect, are members or associates of street groups/gangs, the motive for the shooting may not be a traditional gang war. Often shootings are precipitated by a petty conflict over a young woman, a simple argument, or the now ubiquitous social media slight.
-----
This small number of very high risk individuals are identifiable, their violence is predictable, and therefore it is preventable. Based on the assessment of data and the series of interviews conducted, NICJR estimates that within a year, there are at least 500 identifiable people who rise to this level of very high risk, and likely no more than 200 at any one given time. These individuals comprise approximately 60-70% of all gun violence in the District. Nealy 250 specific individuals were identified through the GVPA process but more importantly, the risk factors that make someone at very high risk has been identified in order to develop an on-going process to focus intervention efforts on those at very high risk.

And more......

Most murder victims in big cities have criminal record

A review of murder statistics across America shows that in many large cities, up to 90 percent of the victims have criminal records.
-------
The report concludes that “of the 2011 homicide victims, 77 percent (66) had a least one prior arrest and of the known 2011 homicide suspects 90 percent (74) had at least one prior arrest.”
----------
In early 2012, after pressure put on the police by murder victims’ families in New Orleans, the police department stopped revealing whether or not the murder victim had a prior record.
---------------
Though data is no longer published in Baltimore, USA Today reported in 2007 that 91 percent of the then-205 murder victims in the city between Jan. 1 and Aug. 31, 2007, had criminal records.
---------
A WND review of the Philadelphia Police Department Murder and Shooting Analysis for 2011 shows a similar pattern to that of other large cities in America – a majority of the murder victims have prior records.

--------
In Philadelphia in 2011, of 324 murders, 81 percent (263) of the victims had at least one prior arrest; 62 percent (164) had been arrested for a violent crime prior to their murder.
----------
In Newark, N.J., long considered one of America’s most dangerous cities, 85 percent of the 165 murder victims between 2009 and 2010 had serious arrest histories.
Anthony Braga, a professor with the Rutgers-Newark School of Criminal Justice, told the Newark Star-Ledger that 85 percent of 165 murder victims in Newark between 2009 and 2010 had been arrested at least once before they were killed.
Those victims, he said, had, on average, 10 prior arrests on their criminal records.
A WND review of the Chicago Police Department Murder Analysis reports from 2003 to 2011 provides a statistical breakdown of the demographics of both the victims and offenders in the 4,265 murders in Chicago over that time period.

So no.....the people in jail and prison are not normal people who just happened to have a gun and then decided for no other apparent reason to use that gun for crime.........they are people with long histories of crime and violence going back to their teen years........

If the 2nd was a good thing, every country would want the same. They don`t. Love your silly anecdotes though.

No.....the countries that want to control their people don't want their citizens to own guns....

Europe made that decision in the 1920s when the countries their began to register and confiscate guns....by the mid 1930s, the German socialists then used the registration lists to confiscate guns from the various citizens they planned on murdering. The socialists then went on to murder 15 million innocent men, women and children...in just 6 years.

The one place this mass murder by the socialists didn't happen?

Switzerland, where they had civilians armed with guns....

6 years in Europe and they murdered 15 million people.

In the United States.....in 246 years of gun murder, the total gun murder number is about 2,460,000

So banning guns didn't save lives in Europe, it allowed the governments there, under the control of the German socialists, to murder 15 million innocent men, women and children.

Guns save lives, and prevent governments from becoming murderous......

THE SWISS WERE PREPARED TO FIGHT FACISM TO THE BITTER END | FRONTLINE | PBS

That is why the Nazis despised Switzerland. Joseph Goebbels called Switzerland "this stinking little state" where "sentiment has turned very much against us." Adolf Hitler decided that "all the rubbish of small nations still existing in Europe must be liquidated," even if it meant he would later "be attacked as the 'Butcher of the Swiss.'"

The 1940 Nazi invasion plan, Operation Tannenbaum, was not executed, and SS Oberst Hermann Bohme's 1943 memorandum warned that an invasion of Switzerland would be too costly because every man was armed and trained to shoot. This did not stop the Gestapo from preparing lists of Swiss to be liquidated once the Nazis overran the country.

The other European nations were easily toppled and had little means to wage a partisan war against the occupation. Once their standing armies were defeated, the governments capitulated and the populaces were defenseless.

Only in Switzerland was the entire populace armed and prepared to wage a relentless guerrilla war against an invader.

When the war began in 1939, Switzerland mobilized 435,000 citizen soldiers out of a population of 4.2 million. Production figures for Swiss service rifles, which had firepower equal to those of the Germans, demonstrate an ample supply of small arms. Swiss militiamen were instructed to disregard any alleged "official" surrender as enemy propaganda and, if necessary, to fight individually. This meant that a nation of sharpshooters would be sniping at German soldiers at long ranges from every mountain.

While neutral, Switzerland was prepared to fight a Nazi invasion to the end. The celebrated Swiss Gen. Henri Guisan developed the strategy known as defense du reduit--an initial opposition followed by a retreat into the Alps, where a relentless war to the death would be waged. Most Swiss strongly opposed Nazism. Death sentences were issued for fifth-column activities, and proclamations against anti-Semitism were passed at various official levels.

There was no Holocaust on Swiss soil, something that can not be said for France, the Netherlands, Poland or most of Europe.
