Zone1 If a follower of Judaism simply cannot keep Shabbat, is there a way to make amends?

I am in complete agreement with faith and works. But if we aren’t saved by faith and works, why do them if all it take is grace? JWs believe only 144,000 will live with Fox again and this by grace only. I find that wrong on many levels. So, do faith and works have something to do with with God’s choice of who receives his grace?
an interesting question ^^^^ from the POV of Judaism as I understand it. One issue
presented by the question is the word "SAVED" ----which I did manage to figure out
over the years sorta means---YOU GET TO GO TO HEAVEN. The concept does not
arise in synagogues or in the books there. ----to cut to the chase---over the years
I have come to understand that the word "FAITH" is all important in Christianity----
and "BELIEF" is the biggie in Islam. It is SO important in both these ideologies
that failure of "FAITH" or "BELIEF" is actually a capital crime in the respective
legal codes, For the record----failure of Belief or Faith is not a capital crime in the
Jewish legal code.

The Jewish concept of "rest" is not just sitting around. It is a cessation of certain categories of creative acts.
Not doing anything creative is not rest to me.

Tell me I can't tend my gardens or work in my woodshop or play guitar and you are denying me my rest.

People have lots to do in the religious communities on Saturday----in fact---they
are BUSY. ----mostly very enjoyable activities. For fun---ask any jew what
MITZVAH NIGHT is. ------tending the garden and doing woodwork is OUT.
You are describing a LONER,S activity-----one of the issues which Saturday is not
is LONER TIME----generally.
My wife and I tend our gardens together

Working in my woodshop is rest to me.

People and crowds are exhausting and dealing with them is work to me.

whether or not playing the guitar is out---is a matter of opinion---some people
say that you cannot TUNE IT--ya know---twist the little knobs. The proscriptions
are a ONE DAY only thing that many people find therapeutic. Long ago---I had
experience being in surgical operating rooms----YA CAN'T DO ANYTHING-------
I found it kinda relaxing

That's you.

I had surgery a couple times and it was not relaxing at all because after i woke up I was unable to move around well and I was in pain.

Surely not everyone has Saturdays off from work. Or, they absolutely must refrain from rest for any number of reasons. any practitioners (or simply those in the know) have a recourse plan if you fail to properly rest during Shabbat? Maybe fast, ask for forgiveness etc. Thank you for your time.
Nope. A true keeper of Judaism must stone a Sabbath breaker. If nobody stones him, then they're lawbreakers as well.

oh----sorry----I was talking about being a "scrubbed in" assistant---not
the VICTIM

So as a a surgical assistant you did nothing?

How much did the guy's insurance get charged for that?
whose insurance?----the VICTIM has nothing to do with it----
everyone else is insured one way or the other. I moved instruments
around----RETRACTED (held things in place) a bit of suturing----it's
happening all over even as we POST.

OH now I understand------no---it was unpaid----however everyone in the
room----I think ---not sure----was named in the chart ??????

Isn't stoning someone work?
an interesting reality-----somehow, IT SEEMS, that jelly bean school kids
get taught that in the time of Jesus----"THE JEWS" were stoning people
left and right. Nope----capital punishment was virtually NOT DONE---
people were ASSASSINATED more than "stoned" by judgment. The NT
story ---about the ADULTRESS---very simply, did not happen but actually
demonstrates that Jesus was a PHARISEE JEW----because it was the Pharisee
POV that rendered execution for adultery virtually IMPOSSIBLE. Sorry to
bust your bubble. As to your brilliant question----it is beyond work---the
rules are so strict regarding such a judgment-----that---IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.
Even the "stoning of James" if it occurred-----AS IT IS DESCRIBED would
have been a serious violation of Jewish law-----and if you read it carefully ---
if it occured, it was more like HOMICIDE---to wit, a lynching by an angry mob

Shabbat afternoon in Jerusalem is magical. The city slows down so much. People walking around and greeting each other.

But if you start the sabbath thinking it is about you then you have list the connection that pulls a people together. "rest" is not the right word. Regardless, I hope you take advantage of any and all down time and pursue your passions.
