Of course there is. There's no good excuse to vote for a bad candidate.

1. One candidate is a better choice. Easy choice.

2. One candidate is worse than the other. Again, easy choice. This is where you are wrong, in this case there is a valid reason to vote for a bad candidate rather than a worse one.

3. There's no difference, they're both really rotten. So, you make no choice or vote for a 3rd party person that has no chance. Here's where you are wrong again, because in this case you should revert to the candidate's political party and their politics/policies and their agenda.

4. Hard to believe any voter can't rate one candidate over or under the other AND also their political party over or under the other. If that's you then yeah, you probably shouldn't vote at all. Here's where you are correct, you have no excuse to vote for a bad candidate. Let everyone else decide that can find a distinction between the candidate and their party.
