I would rather have a voter exam. ten questions, if you can't score at least a 70% you don't get to vote. PERIOD.

You asked for it, here they are! How many can you answer? All of these are easy questions except for maybe #2.

1. What year did the United Stated declare Independence?
2. How many Amendments are there in the US Constitution?
3. Do you have the right to bear arms?
4. What President freed the slaves south of the Mason Dixon line?
5. Who said “…ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country?”
6. What are the three branches of the US government?
7. Who is fourth in line of succession to the President of the US?
8. Was the Alamo a battle of US forces against Santa Ana and Mexico?
9. How many stars are on the US flag?
10. What do the stripes on the US flag represent?

1. Official independence declared in 1776
2. 27
3. Yes, but the bears get pissed off when you try to take them
4. Technically speaking Lincoln, although in reality the states south of the mason dixon were not part of the USA at the time the Emancipation Proclamation was given, so they weren't obliged to follow it.
5. FDR who then ironically proceeded to create the New Deal a precursor to today's nanny state.
6. executive,legislative, judicial
7. 4th in line counting the POTUS, that would be the President pro tempore of the Senate. If you meant fourth not counting the POTUS, the Sec of State
8. No, it was a battle between the Republic of Texas, which was not a part of the US at the time, and Mexico.
9. 50, or 57 if you're Obama
10. The 13 original colonies

Do I get to vote?

Very good but like I said they were easy and technically you did miss a few.

2. The 18th amendment was repealed so technically there are only 26.

4. Lincoln didn't free all the slaves south of mason dixon. New Orleans was allowed to keep theirs and the Northern slaves didn't get freed till December 1865 after the 13th amendment was ratiifed when Johnson (the first) was president. Also the southern states never succeeded, they were in rebellion and their attempts at succesion illegal.

5. JFK's inagural speech. He stole it from Gen. Omar Bradley!

Still you got 70% and your ballot. :clap2::clap2:

2 A repealed amendment is STILL an amendment thus there are 27 amendments. I got that one right.

4. You're question was a simple yes or no, the correct answer was no. I got that one right

5. Holy shit, I mixed that up with "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself" how stupid of me.

I got a 90% , give me my ballot your fascist bastard.

Boy, I surewouldlike to seethe entire context of Lonestar's comment, but that would be honest.

This is a thread by Wry, so...

Anyway, I have no comment without seeing the entire quote from Lonestar.

If ths is a poll asking that question without an attempt to dishonestly take a comment out of context fromanother, then the answer is no on its face.

I am loathe to participate in a thread where the OP hasn't the honesty to post a link to the entire quote on which he made the thread.

Typical dishonesty from Wry.

Yeah i asked for context of the quote all the way back in post #5 and he has not come back.

Yeah I figured 2 and 4 were correct just wanted to see if you were going to object to a little extrapolation.

I can't believe I even missed one, and an easy one at that. Good grief.

The quote is taken from post #32 by Lonestar_Logic on the thread "This election is a referendum on socialism".
The entire post is as quoted: "I also believe that only those that own land should be able to vote." It is not taken out of context and seems so far out I wondered if other fringers might agree.
I support universal sufferage, and positive identification required to vote.

The vote so far:

Yes 4

No 4

and, seven (7) would like universal sufferage but postive ID at the polls.

I bumped the entire thread.

As the asshole is being an ass, as usual, here is the quote with the link.
pure and simple, socialism is fine, but not in america. the president of obama is a socialist, the american voters will give him the boot, in deference to the founding fathers image of commerce set at perfect liberty. obama is incapable of carrying out that vision, and the american voters now know this. this election will strip him of his congressional support, the next, his job. bye bye birdie

do you look as stupid in real life as you sound on the internets?

and the only 'economic' vision the founders had was that landed gentry were the only people who could vote. :cuckoo:

I also believe that only those that own land should be able to vote.

So in other words, Wry did indeed quote Lonestar verbatim as you desired. correct? So now wiill you comment on the thread that you commented you wouldn't comment on that you actually did comment on that you wouldn't?

I desired a link so that I could see the context, idiot.

And, I've already commented, moron.

Reading is fundamental.

Suggestion. Buy some milk for your Post Toasties instead of piss. You'll have a much better day.

Ok, I'll bite. Why shouldn't someone who rents their home be able to vote?

Speaking for myself and where i live.

Renters should NOT be allowed to vote on anything that increases property taxes. UNLESS whatever is voted upon is taxed onto each rent that is charged. So for example, if a new tax is $10 a month per property should it is also added onto each and every rent as well.

That's a bit redundant. Property taxes are of necessity built into the rent. The rental property being someone else's property. Historically it has been shown that renters have always been subject to raises in rent due to property tax increase.

Property tax increases are always followed by rent increases, usually disproportiona
l.

the free market takes care of that imo.

the landlord will raise their rent in most cases, unless restricted by some other legal means....

in some states, renters can take a deduction on their taxes, on a portion of their rent attributed to property taxes....

It is assumed the owner's property tax is included in rent prices, as it should be...again, imo.

In SF you cant raise rents to cover any costs.

For and example. If you have a 4 unit building and the tax is $10. I would want each and every renter paying $10, not splitting the tax between the units.

If the tax isn't on every individual unit, WTF should every individual unit be charged this fee? :eusa_hand:

I'd like to know what makes landowners so special that only they deserve the right to vote.

Do you agree with this statement posted by Lonestar_Logic?

yes

no

I want know if there are qualifiers to go with it.
Does the landholder have to own the land outright, or will a mortgage be acceptable?

Will the rolls be purged if the land is foreclosed on?

and what about condos?

people buy/own condos but they don't own land

or trailers...

many people buy trailers and then rent the lot that it is placed on

if we deny non-land/property owners the right to vote then....well....who else can we deny the RIGHT to vote (are conservatives trying to TAKE AWAY RIGHTS?)?

atheists?
non-christians?
mulins?
liberals...democrats..feminists...homosexuals....?

and
BTW...
you NEVER REALLY OWN that land....

cus I happen to KNOW for a FACT that if the government or big business wants YOUR LAND....then they'll find a way to take it.
