WASHINGTON – Thirty-two Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities from across the nation were recently recognized as “top performers” by the independent panel that accredits and certifies health care organizations.

“We are proud of the medical facilities that have been recognized for demonstrating VA’s commitment to provide the high-quality care our Veterans have earned through their service,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki. “This achievement highlights the hard work of our VA medical staff to serve Veterans.”

More Than 500 Vets Died at VA Hospitals Due to Mistakes Since 2010

Compare that with the 98,000 to 200,000 that die due to mistakes in other hospitals. There are good and bad hospitals and good and bad VA facilities. All in all the VA does a good job.

Don't get mad at me because of your irrelevant off topic post.

This is just a beginning.

Now that business won't have to pay for healthcare anymore, make part of that money saved a tax cut and the other part towards universal healthcare.

Since the government would take it over, instead of money going to insurance companies who skim money from every policy, all that revenue would go into paying for healthcare.

And come on Republicans, just for once, don't be stupid. Healthcare companies get their money skimming from the policies they sell. Just the top 10 companies alone account for over a trillion dollars.

The Fortune 500's 10 biggest health-care companies

Let's just cut out the skimmers and the middle man.

Remember, manufacturing has doubled in the last few decades and millions of Americans have been laid off because those jobs were taken by automation. These companies are making money hand over fist. Why not help support a little bit some of the millions they cast aside?

If universal health care is so practical and affordable why have the most left wing states already bailed on their plans to implement it?

Because, for now at least, people can just move to states without it.

I can only guess you didn't bother to read your own link, did you?

Although it is difficult to make a direct comparison without more detailed information, VA hospitals are not alone in committing serious, sometimes fatal mistakes.

According to a 2010 Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General report, "an estimated 1.5 percent of Medicare beneficiaries experienced an event that contributed to their deaths, which projects to 15,000 patients in a single month."

In a groundbreaking 1999 study, the Institute of Medicine estimated that medical errors killed between 44,000 and 98,000 patients at hospitals nationwide every year. However the Journal of Patient Safety said in a report released last year that the numbers may be as high as between 210,000 and 440,000 patients each year.

Read it. You'll find out that most of the issues came from a few VA Hospitals. And where were the worst located? Georgia? South Carolina? You know, "southern" hospitals. Where Republicans live.

Next time, make sure your link backs up your ASSertions. Otherwise, you look like an "ass".

I have two relatives who have been using the VA for years. They have been getting excellent care.
So? 500 dead vets because execs wanted bigger bonuses. And they still work at the VA.
So, how many die in our other system?
Notice how the lib just marginalized the 500 dead in VA hospitals?

#3) Sociopaths are incapable of feeling shame, guilt or remorse. Their brains simply lack the circuitry to process such emotions. This allows them to betray people, threaten people or harm people without giving it a second thought. They pursue any action that serves their own self interest even if it seriously harms others.
This is also the reason why Hillary Rotten Clinton said "At this point, what difference does it make that 4 US Citizens died in Benghazi by Al Qaeda?"

Insurance companies "skimming" is not the problem. Sure, they take money. But, they also perform a service of facilitating medical care. If their profits are huge, it means the government is the problem in that the government is doing something to limit competition. And, indeed, it is.

Healthcare administered through private insurance should be recognized as the Holy Grail of universal healthcare. Competing insurance companies would be more efficient and less oppressive than the government administrating universal healthcare.

Obamacare is a step in the right direction. If Republicans weren't worthless, they'd be fixing it rather than trying to repeal it.

Good God, you people are true fascists. Hitler would be so proud. It's OK the government intentionally kills its citizens because it was people you do not like.

Too much insurance is, most definitely, the problem. Through hook or crook (ie persistently lobbying state and federal regulatory regimes) health insurance companies have injected themselves as middle-men in nearly every health care transaction. They get their cut and it's mostly unnecessary overhead.

The only way to restore freedom in the health care market is to minimize the reliance on insurance. Sadly, Republican's aren't interested in solving the problem at all, and the only thing Democrats can come up with is going all-in on too much insurance - replacing a handful of dominant companies with their fingers in most of our health care with one dominant insurance company controlling the entire market.

Shitforbrains think government control is the answer to needless deaths in the healthcare system, even after acknowledging the government intentionally killed over 500 vets so rich executives could get larger bonuses and not get fired for it, let alone criminally prosecuted.

No, you assumed every single part of that.

All I was doing, was pointing out another instance where you prove to be retarded.

With all of the people who are unemployed suddenly added to the patient population, this will not pay for it. When the system starts losing bucket loads of money, several things will happen, among them:

1. Rationing of care and treatment.
2. Death panels
3, taxing "unhealthy" foods like steak, bacon, fried foods, desserts, etc.

No thanks.
