How the Koch brothers built the most powerful rightwing group you've never heard of

The cries of “Shame! Shame! Shame!” rang throughout the marbled walls of the Wisconsin state assembly chamber. Disgusted Democratic politicians, some of whom had been up for over 60 hours by this point, punctuated their chants by throwing papers – and even drinks – at their Republican counterparts. Police officers had to be summoned to physically restrain one Democratic representative yelling “Cowards!” across the aisle.

The source of this confrontation, in the early hours of February 2011, was an unprecedented push by Wisconsin Republicans, led by the state’s newly elected Republican governor, Scott Walker, to slash the union rights held by most public workers. Walker argued that budget woes in the state necessitated the shift, and barrelled forward to eliminate the rights of virtually all public-sector workers to collectively bargain with government and to allow government employees to opt out of paying dues to their unions.

At first blush this might seem like a years-old local issue in a US state that rarely lights up the international headlines. Yet events in Wisconsin are crucial to understanding how a little-known, billionaire-funded organization, called Americans for Prosperity (AFP), has tilted American politics to the right. It is intertwined with, and rivals in size, the Republican party itself.

Despite Trump playing tough guy with them, the Koch's continuing buying our Republican and Democrat politicians and undermining out democracy and the environment at every turn.

And now unions suck.
We need to outlaw government unions, today.

Unelected municipal union leaders can ruin a city or a town or even a county. Municipal unions can cause chaos and bankrupt emergency services and Police departments. We elect people to deal with this situation and take the power away from sometimes corrupt union leaders. That's the way the system should work. The only cowards are the democrats who sat back and let it happen for years in exchange for votes by extortion. I have no idea why the Koch brothers are singled out. Maybe the cowardly democrats hate Jews too.

And now they aid the Communist ... er, Democratic Party. Their usefulness in most cases has passed.

Although I won't argue that police and prison guard unions 'suck', and some other public unions that may seem unfair to average Americans, only because we forgot what it's like to have retirement benefits and pensions or paid health care..."outlawing" unions would be counter-productive at best.. They just raised the Social Security age on us . Did we vote for it ?

democracy's always end up in death and suffering,,,our republic is the best the world has ever seen

It took a lot of guts for elected republicans to take away the power that was bestowed on unions by decades of lazy cowardly quasi-socialist democrat administrations. As usual democrats have it ass-backwards.

That's a lie.
The US is good at covertly knocking them down and saying "See how socialism fails. "
Our wars and sanctions are affecting democracy around the world with millions of refugees .
LIAR!!!
Iraq war alone created 10 million( most displaced in Iraq) , Syria and Libya another 5 million at least.
