The glaciation of the southern tip of South America was believed to be "evidence" that Antarctica, from the same spot today, grew its ice to encompass southern South America. That conclusion was completely wrong. Antarctica and South America were attached when they first broke off southern Africa some 120+ million years ago. The Atlantic Ocean is growing. The Pacific Ocean is shrinking, where one plate goes under the other, which is why there are tsunamis in the Pacific but not in the Atlantic. The fault at the center bottom of Ocean Atlantic is the key to understanding what took place. Rewind this 120+ million years and you get Pangea...

On a sphere, North America was where Greenland is roughly 50 million years ago. North America passed its "closest to the Pole" point and hence started moving SW when that happened.

During the past million years, Greenland froze while North America thawed, proving that THE ATMOSPHERE, including Co2 IN THE ATMOSPHERE, had NOTHING to do with either event.

How do scientists know that recent climate change is largely caused by human activities?
