Kansas is what would happen to Texas if Texas didn't have oil to prop up it's economy.
Kansas would be more stupid if you moved there.

Hmmm.... really?
These Are The Best And Worst US States For Small Business - Business Insider
You've got to be kidding me. Either that, or you just hoped I wouldn't click and read the article!
This refers to very specific things states are being judged on, like licensing.
Some make no sense. Celeste Kelly, a horse lover, began offering horse massage, a subject she had studied privately, in 2006; she charges $55 per session. In 2012 the Arizona State Veterinary Medical Examining Board ordered her to "cease and desist" or face heavy fines and possible criminal charges. According to the Institute for Justice (IJ), a libertarian law firm which is suing the board on her behalf, Arizona does not require vets to learn massage, and Ms Kelly may offer it for free; she simply cant charge for it unless shes a vet. "Veterinarians I know think its ridiculous," she complains. "Its their political arm that has crafted legislation to be self-protective."
State licensing regimes vary widely. Louisiana requires licenses for 70% of low-wage occupations, according to IJ, including barber, bartender and cosmetologist. In Wyoming, it is a more modest 24%. In Hawaii, licenses require an average of 724 days of experience and education; in Pennsylvania, 113. Enforcement is uneven, too.
Last I looked, Louisiana was Red and Arizona was as Red as they come.
So this has more to do with stupid local and state laws, rather than some Red-Blue contest.
Agree? Or will you take the wingnut route?
Every time Republicans are in control it's a total disaster.
...and worse happens when Ds are in control, but you can't see that due to your crazy partisan beliefs.
Both parties suck and both are responsible for the terrible state of our nation.
All this partisan dogma is merely a smoke screen and it dupes millions.
Kansas has always had low unemployment, in January of 2010 it was the fourth lowest in the country. That doesn't change the fact that the results of Brownback's tax cuts have been a disaster.
Poll that just came out yesterday has Davis (D) ahead of Brownback (R) with an 8% spread! Things are not improving for Brownback, they're getting worse.
RealClearPolitics - Election 2014 - Kansas Governor - Brownback vs. Davis
They can't. But it's a sign of the times that Americans are rejecting Conservatism and their people. America is turning Blue and try as hard as they may in a so-called red, safe Conservative state they are being turned away by those who know what reelecting a Conservative will mean to their pocketbooks. Disaster. And that's the Bottom Line.Brownback comes into the governor's seat in 2011 and the state of Kansas has a budget "surplus" doing relatively well during the global recession.
During this time Kansas had 2 democratic governors with a Republican Legislature. The state enacted a number of spending cuts and also a small tax increase, the result was the surplus.
Brownback comes in and gives rich people a tax cut from 6.5% to 4.9% on state income tax for the highest bracket of earners, and entirely removes state income taxes for businesses. He also eliminates the mortgage interest deductions entirely, something that benefits the middle class hugely.
So then obviously after the huge tax cuts you have to cut spending, so Brownback cuts education spending tremendously.
Okay, so rich people have more money and public schools are in shambles...BUT!!! this is "Trickle down" economics in work!! The job growth is gonna SURGE ahead and create so much government revenue they'll have an even bigger surplus right??? Cause that's the miracle of Reaganomics right???
Not quite...
Kansas's job growth during Brownback's cuts has lagged well below the rest of the country, 37th out of 50 to be exact, and it's been over two years since the cuts were enacted. Also the budget has gone into deficit with a $700 million shortfall. Moody's has cut the Kansas credit rating if you need further proof. Nothing is showing this is going to turn around anytime soon.
Brownback is trailing a democratic challenger for his election 2014 now, with 5 different polls showing Davis (D) in the lead.
So how does the GOP explain this failure of the Amazing Trickle Down Miracle? How can they possibly sell their economics with examples like this?

Kansas Could Turn Blue as Democrat Paul Davis Leads Governor's Race by 8
Which just goes to prove my point about Conservatives. When Davis gets to the governor's mansion and both Houses remain red there will be plenty of infighting and who are the Big Losers? THE PEOPLE! Yes, the citizens of Kansas are the ones that will suffer much when that happens which just goes to prove that with their wanting Davis to be their new governor but keeping a Conservative legislature there will be infighting and Kansas Citizens Will Suffer In the End Most Unfortunately. The Solution? Next election, get rid of all Conservatives and have them immediately replaced by members of Governor Davis' political party! They can't. No, you stupid ass, it isn't.
Brownback is the states first real conservative governor in 22 years.
There have been two democrats and moderate republican in that time.
What's better is that the state (via Johnson County) had a lot of moderates in the house and senate.
Dems and Cons don't get along.
Mods and Cons hate each other in the state.
But, this last couple of go arounds, Johnson County all but washed out the moderates. The house is solidly conservative (and that won't change by a long shot) while the senate is about the same but more vulnerable.
So this assclown won't get what Sebelius got when she was in the state house....
He's going to have a rabid state legislature who will fight him on everything.
Every time Republicans are in control it's a total disaster.

If I'm recalling it right, the larger state economies were the ones hit the hardest and the ones that lagged the most in recovery. It may be the mix of industries.
To really know what causal factors are requires rolling up one's sleeves and getting knee deep in the data.
One website says that Kansas has a large automotive manufacturing industry. How that has compared to Michigan might be revealing.
The percentage dedicated to agriculture probably has a big effect. People generally don't cut back on food as much as other goods. Then there is the effect of Fed programs food and ag programs.
2012-2014 has seen the economy for the rest of the country on the upswing (compared to 2009-2011). Kansas has gone in reverse direction. Their job growth is lagging the rest of the country and they went from surplus to deficit and have crushed funding for public schools.
The "only thing" that could explain the backtracking of Kansas compared to the rest of the country are state policies, especially the faltering budget, and especially on changes as steep as those enacted by Brownback.
If you want to live in total denial that what Brownback did wasn't destructive and it was "some other mystic force at work" then that's fine. But just to warn you the numbers really aren't on your side here.
You talking to me? I'm just looking for fact. I can't find any emprate, which I consider important. The labor force pàrticipation rate looks good.
Dou you have any historical data comparing the UE to national EU?
Surely you realize that as employment gets closer to maximum, job growth has to slow down. Also, if Kansas was one of those states that wasn't hit as hard, it would have a UE that is better than the national average for no other reason except that they weren't hit as hard. Its always easy to be in front when you start in front.
State economies are complex and no single measure is going to serve as a measure. And all states are different s no single measure is going to reasonably compare them
Which just goes to prove my point about Conservatives. When Davis gets to the governor's mansion and both Houses remain red there will be plenty of infighting and who are the Big Losers? THE PEOPLE! The big losers...the people....are the ones who set up the divided government to begin with (assuming they elect Davis). So they only have themselves to blame.
As to your solutions. Good luck and shove it. Davis will be long gone and those conservative legislatures will still be around.
This is about a bunch of mods getting together to push out someone they see as crazy. Of course, they don't mind spending money they don't have...but that won't happen.
I am afraid your wet dream won't happen anytime soon.
And Dave will be elected because the mods don't like Brownback. They are less effective in districts. They are to clustered in the cities. Wyandotte County will carry Davis 75%. That is great for overall numbers...but it's not spread out enough to cover each district.
But, at least you know that Kansas isn't "turning blue". It's had moron democrats in the state house for decades (and they are the reason the state is behind in so many areas and also has very high sales tax). We survived asswipe Sebelius.....we'll survive Davis if he's elected.
Every time Republicans are in control it's a total disaster.

How is California doing under all-Democratic control?
Fucking awesome!
