How do you view the lottery?

You live in a state where you can charge, or write a check for lottery tickets?

Not here.. Straight up cash, or nothing,

I never tried using a credit card or check to buy them but I doubt you can do that here. I really don't put that much thought into spending 10.00. Of course it has occured to me that the Ohio lottery is a big fat scam still, somebody wins everyday. I even win occasionally.

There's a casino bill on the ballot this time, lots of ads pro and con. I hope we get them, it would just be one more fun thing to do.

Oddly enough, I lived in Nevada for eight years. I've been in and out of just about every major casino in the state, and truthfully, I dislike gambling. I don't like the amount of time it requires, and I never seem to win. I played video poker for years and never, EVER hit a Royal Flush. I was sitting in the Silver Baron bar in the Silver Legacy in Reno with a friend, who NEVER GAMBLES. He uncharacteristically put $5 in one of the dollar machines built into the bar in front of us and ten or so hands later hit a Spade Royal Flush... an instant progressive win. It was around $1,500.00. I could have blown the joint up, and probably why I don't like to gamble. Another time I was in line at the Stardust casino in Vegas with family waiting to go in and watch the show Lido De Paris. As my mother passed by this machine she slipped a few quarters in it and with one pull hit all 7's... JACKPOT! THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME, AND I LIVED THERE FOR YEARS! Yes, no doubt the reason why I truly dislike gambling, in the "go to the casino and gamble" sense.

I play video poker as well. My friend goes to Detroit maybe once a month and plays the video poker machines where there are different games on the same machine. She was showing me how to win on them and I swear to God, she was winning 700.00 many times.

I won about 1000.00 and got scared and took everything out.. Some people just know how to do it.

I won in Vegas once. Royal flush at the Flamingo. It made the rest of my week a lot of fun there. My mom was a gambler, her motto, desperate money never wins.. Don't spend what you can't afford to lose or if you get mad about losing.. :)

Don't spend what you can't afford to lose or if you get mad about losing..

That's exactly how you gamble. It's meant to be fun - not a way of life, or an attempt to pay the bills. I took 4k with me in cash - left all cards at home, except for my emergency CC. Used the 4k for gambling, shopping, etc. The airfare and room/food at Caesars Palace was prepaid, because I won the trip.

How did you like the room at Ceasars? I've never seen them but their casino is really cool. We stayed at the Mirage once, rooms were nice but I never won at their casino. Ceasars was good.

I spent a week in Vegas once.. I forgot what hotel it was in, but they have a larger than life slot machine which was $100 a pull. I did that just for kicks.

Once.

I didn't get my $100 back. :D

But, I ended up coming home from Vegas with $23, which is more than I can say for most people, and I gambled practically 24/7. I stopped to shop, and eat.
Isn't that machine down on Freemont street... 'the gut?' There was one like that years ago down there, at like Glitter Gulch or something.

:iagree: ... ^

That is EXTREMELY good advice! NEVER gamble if you're running low on money, and if you start getting sore, (get mad), about the amount of money you're losing, STOP!

You're mom knew what she was talking about.

The favorite attraction for the 'lady' guests is the life sized replica of the statue of David... :D

I wasn't happy with one of their regular rooms, so they moved us into one of the towers. *Those* are awesome. Huge marble/brass jacuzzi bath, cool statues everywhere..Just a really nice suite...

When I'm in Vegas if I don't win anything within the first hour or so, I stop for the rest of the day. I figure it's not my turn.

Funny how you get supersticious.

I tried to bring a souvenir home from Treasure Island.. That didn't go over well. :(

...ok, so it was a pirate.. but he was a damn fine pirate.:eusa_drool:

Well that's just it though... it's all about luck. If you're having crappy luck, quit. If you're having great luck, keep it up. Never push it, that's when you lose.

I honestly can't remember.. This was back in Aug. of 96. I just remember I didn't win, and the look of horror I got from my husband was funny. He would only play nickel machines.

No. It's imitation white marble, and about nine feet tall. It's identical to the original.

Word of advice: If you stay at CP, and get a room in the towers that has all the statues sitting in alcoves... If one looks off center to you, do NOT assume it's actually brass, and give it a good firm twist.

It's simply plaster and paint, and the heads twist off quite easily.
