How about a CEASEFIRE in UKRAINE?

The two are different, if only because in raw power terms Israel can basically militarily level and devastate Gaza and “get away with it” because the Hamas fanatics acted so stupidly, nobody is aiding them militarily, and their suicidal attack on Israel gave it an excuse to “finish off Hamas.” All the protest at the inhumanity of Israeli action in Gaza will probably remain words.

Russia has had major setbacks in its invasion of Ukraine and the lines are more or less frozen there at present. Since the supposed Russian “willingness to negotiate peace” in March 2022 Ukraine took back some 40 percent of the land Putin occupied in February, including its second biggest city Kharkov and also Kherson in the South. This is never mentioned by those who wanted a “cease fire” and negotiations back then.

Negotiations and a few “cease fires” may be more possible in the next period if the lines of control remain more or less where they are, but become impossible the moment the U.S. or NATO stops its aid to Ukraine.

After that Putin will not settle until he gets back all the lands he already declared are part of “eternal Russia” and at least the two cities I mentioned, and probably not even then. Without continued aid to Ukraine, its economy will collapse, Russia will eventually destroy completely its army, and Putin will finally put a puppet government even in Odessa and Kiev.

Putin's and Hamas's goals are different as well. Putin's aim is to reclaim the Tsar's empire of the greater Rus people. It's central to the Russian idea of "self" that the Rus have a god given duty to control europe to promote (Russia's notion) of peace and prosperity. That predated the Great Patriot War and the Eastern communist bloc. I don't agree with Fiona Hill's views of the basis for gop resistance is simply to "do in" Biden, but the US and Nato are waging a proxy war using Ukranian bodies to prevent Russia from having any ability to move on the Baltics, and the main prize is Poland. Some progressives and gopers simply don't see the US as having a dog in the fight. I disagree with them, but that doesn't make them traitors or soviet stooges.

To the extent terrorists can have goals, Hamas simply wants Israel to cease to exist, and we've seen their view as to the Jews fate. But terrorists never have any view of how to civilly exist with people who may disagree about policies such as education and human rights.

And of course Likud's aims are not pristine, to put it mildly. But Israel's ambassador to the UN put the cease fire issue succulently.

"If you want a real ceasefire, here is the right address," Erdan said. "Tell Hamas to put down their arms, turn themselves in, and return our hostages. This will bring a complete ceasefire that will last forever." ... He then held aloft a placard with a telephone number and the name and image of Yahya Sinwar, a Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip.

Are children dying in both conflicts?

Hamas wanted a War of Annihilation.

They got one. The IDF is going to kill every last one of those murdering, raping goat-fuckers.

Your analysis lacks objectivity and isn’t completely accurate.

The two sides were in peace talks for years with the Minsk agreements. Both sides breached those agreements at various times but we now know Ukraine wasn’t negotiating for peace, but was stalling to build up their military to attack the eastern areas of Ukraine.

Also, the two sides had come to an initial agreement to stop hostilities early in the war, but Biden/NATO sent dumb Boris to Kiev to shit can those talks. Leaving Russia no choice but to destroy Ukraine’s military.

You clearly know little about Crimea, because the people there are predominantly Russian and have been for centuries. They wanted to secede from Ukraine after the Obama/Nuland coup in 2014. So, there won’t be any puppet government there, as you ignorantly claim.

I suspect Russia could easily overrun Ukraine now, as their military is fully mobilized. They don’t because they’ve accomplished what they set out to, which was destruction of Ukraine’s military and control of territory that desired freedom from Kiev. In addition, Putin knows DC is infested with crazed Neocons who likely would send in US and NATO troops should he advance on Kiev.

Who loves Nuland?

This was an excellent commentary, and I especially appreciated your link to Fiona Hill’s thoughtful and perceptive article. Our suicidal ultra-partisan domestic conflicts are not only holding up aid to Ukraine. We are now at an inflection point where we are very likely to inflict devastating international damage to our own position in the world by allowing Putin to crush Ukraine … completely unnecessarily.

Again, this link is very much worth reading, especially for naive short-sighted advocates of abandoning Ukraine to Putin’s bloody invasion.

You talk about ignorance? My God, do you think Odessa is in Crimea? I’ve written about the special situation of Crimea many times, and have argued with Ukrainian nationalists that it is “a bridge too far” for them to expect Russia to abandon it — though a new internationally observed referendum there at some future date may one day be a part of a future peace agreement and final settlement.

P.S. By the way, the Crimean economy is also being devastated by this war. The Russian fleet has all but abandoned Sevastopol — withdrawing to Eastern Black Sea ports for safety, tourism is ruined, and even its Kirsch Bridge — Putin’s pride and joy — is now a target and a reason for Putin to consider negotiating … so long as Ukraine is not abandoned by the West.

Russia's armed forces are seriously over-rated. Always have been. If they thought they could overrun the Ukes, they would. In fact, they tried and they got their balls handed back to them in a sack.

Ukraine lived under Russian rule for 75 years. During that time, the scumbag Russians murdered MILLIONS of them either by starving them or just simply shooting them.

And Ukrainians would rather die fighting than go back to being starved to death by the Russians.

FUCK RUSSIA

My apologies. I thought you wrote Crimea.

War has a tendency to destroy economies. Crimea will get back their economy as soon as it’s over.

You’ve purposely confused Soviet Russia with today’s Russia.

Ukrainians have died in the hundreds of thousands for nothing, but enriching the US MIC.

I didn't confuse anything. Today's Russia is culturally the same as Soviet Russia.

Remember, Putin rose to the rank of Full Colonel in the Soviet KGB.

That just simply couldn't happen to a person that wasn't a committed Marxist/communist. And Putin has said, in Public,

Russian President Vladimir Putin told the nation Monday that the collapse of the Soviet empire “was the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the century” and had fostered separatist movements inside Russia.

Russia sucks. The Russian People suck, Russian politics suck and people that support them suck even worse.

They could have, possibly, been saved. But Bill THE RAPIST Clinton was too busy chasing pussy to help them out.

When the USSR fell, people who relied on it for Pensions, Retirements, food, medicines, health care.... The whole enchilada, were in dire straits. Bigly. Big time.

They needed help and Bill The Rapist Clinton turned his back on them. Look it up. Look up 'Hard Landing' for Russia.

Russia WANTED to be part of the West, they wanted to enter the circle of civilized nations but The Rapist turned his back on them.

Russia also didn't have to turn back the clock, revert to their old ways.

But they did.

This is just one problem with putting stupid motherfuckers in charge of -- Anything. And dimocraps, every single one of them -- Are stupid motherfuckers.

And while Bush 41 was no prize, he was at least competent. There is no such thing as a competent dimocrap. Not since Harry Truman.

yeah, but the gop has run W and Trump TWICE since then.

Biden is weak in terms of corralling the progs, but he sees Ukraine for what it is. Unfortunately, his own party may favor open borders over Ukraine having borders.

Well, they aren't part of Russia, and they won't be unless the US throws them to the "Bear."
If Russia wanted to conquer all of Ukraine, they would have done so by now. Ukraine never stood a chance, even with the massive military aid from the West.

I can’t agree with much of that. If Putin were the devoted Marxist you think he is he would have continued to impose Marxism, but he didn’t.

Your hatred of Russians is foolish. I can see hating their government and the USSR. There certainly is much to hate. The Russian people are just fine.

I agree the West turned their backs to Russia, after the fall of the USSR. This is an obvious mistake, but the neocons needed a boogieman.

The Russians deserve credit for terminating the USSR PEACEFULLY. This has to be one of the greatest accomplishments of all time.

The Russians didn't terminate the USSR peacefully. Where did you get your education? The University of Dumbass?

The USSR fell apart. They didn't terminate shit. They literally ran out of other peoples' money to steal. And their science/technology industry ran out of Germans. Then all they had left was a bunch of nasty-ass pig farmers too stupid to wipe their own asses.

If you knew anything about Russia (you don't) you'd know it was long time coming. If you looked at them then and look at us now, you would see the similarities. They had their version of DEI LONG before we did.

For instance, University Attendance was based on a 'points' system. The child of a Farmer got more points than the child of a businessman. The child of a bureaucrat was way up there, the child of...... It was just bullshit. They simply ran out of intelligent, educated people. They let ideology get in the way of practicality. And their people went for it, they swallowed all of it, lock, stock and barrel. Because.... They're stupid. I don't hate them, they're just simply stupid.

Russia is a problem. Russia has always been a problem. And Russia will always be a problem.

Why? Because it's full of Russians.
