Hilarious Spin: Trump Caused the Shutdown!

Didn't Trump say no WALL no DACA? As I understand there was wall funding in the budget. Is that true, just asking to get some facts.

Yes, there was some funding for the wall in the budget, but not nearly enough to complete it on a timely basis.

Trump has even publicly specified that the wall does *not* have to be only a physical wall but that it can be a virtual wall (motion and thermal sensors) where feasible. Democrats *vote for* a similar approach in 2006.

The point is that DACA and the wall should not be linked to funding the government. Those are issues that should be dealt with separately from funding the government. Imagine if we started tying gun control, labor law, abortion, etc., to the budget. That's not how you run a country.

But those were Trumps own words and the 1.6 billion is all he asked for in the 2018 budget. He got what he wanted then said no. After saying he would not quibble over it. He woyld sign what the put in front of him then he didn't.

First of all, I'm looking right at Trump's 2018 budget proposal, and it requests $2.6 billion for the wall alone, plus $300 million for 1,500 new personnel for CBP and ICE (https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/budget.pdf, p. 18). So if Schumer offered $1.6 billion, he offered a billion less, nearly 40% less, than what Trump requested.

Second, Trump made those comments assuming that the Democrats would be reasonable and honest in negotiations over border security, which they have not done.

Third, Trump, like most other folks, probably did not believe hat the Dems would really shut down the government over DACA when push came to shove.

So things have changed since Trump made those comments.

And I again point out that Trump backed the House funding bill and worked the phones for nearly 48 hours to try to get Senate Democrats to at least allow a regular vote on the bill so that it could pass with a simple majority. It would have passed 51-49 if the Dems had dropped the filibuster.

Gotcha, I thought I read in several places the number asked was 1.6 billion.

Every day that goes by, Shoooomer sinks a little deeper into the muck. Even the most Kool-Aid saturated Liberals don't believe it was necessary for Chuckie to create this havoc. His weak attempts at blaming President Trump are ringing very hollow. It is also helping the GOP cause in the upcoming elections.

Schumer's blaming Trump was strong before he did it. Polls gave Schumer a 20 point advantage going into the shutdown.

I'm certain Trumpo's ad linking Dems to murderers will drive the 'blame Trumpo' polls even higher against our buffoon of a President.

You f course we know purveyors of fake reality only believe polls that favor their fake reality.

Oh my goodness. Let's see:

* Trump spent most of Thursday and Friday on the phone trying to convince Senate Democrats to vote for the House spending bill that would have kept the government open for another month.

* Trump repeatedly asked that DACA be considered separately from the budget, as it should be.

* The Democrats insisted on tying DACA to the budget.

* After the House passed a spending bill on Thursday by a fairly comfortable margin, Senate Democrats invoked a filibuster so that Republicans would need 60 votes to keep the government open.

* Trump invited Schumer to the White House on Friday afternoon to try to persuade him to support the spending bill and keep the government open.

* Schumer continued to oppose the spending bill and voted against it, as did most of his fellow Democrats.

* 47 of the 51 Republicans in the Senate voted for the spending bill, but only 5 Democrats voted for the bill.

Liberal conclusion: Trump caused the shutdown! You can't make up stuff that's funnier and more pathetic than this.

Bingo.

The Dems with their filibuster have caused the shut down. Trump needs to make a speech telling everyone exactly who is to blame. The Dems. What idiots.

Those kids they are all squawking about should be sent back to where ever the hell they came from. No way should we taxpayers be on the hook for their support. They aren't Americans. Send them back.

Personally, I don't have a problem with allowing DACA kids to stay and gain citizenship in exchange for securing the border and ending chain immigration. But what about the parents of DACA kids? I'm okay with making them permanent residents, if they have not committed a crime in the U.S. If the Dems demand citizenship for the parents too, they had better offer something very substantive and meaningful in exchange, such as an end to anchor babies.

So the Democrats have shut down the government because (1) they want to make sure that children/teens who are here ILLEGALLY get to stay here......

So does Trumpo. So why doesn't Trumpo rescind his executive order shutting down DACA?

Trumpo put the law abiding Dreamers in jeopardy of deportation but does not want to deport them. Is he schizo?

And he wants $20 bn US taxpayer to pay for a wall he is misinformed about. Why isn't he getting the money from Mexico like he promised?

Such a liar.
Mexico will pay for the wall by way of lost revenue that is drained from the USA continuously by illegal aliens and drug sales. You are definitely easily fooled.

And Trump and his aides have said the same thing many, many times, but liberals keep ignoring that fact.

Graham and Flake just announced that they will now vote for the funding bill. That means we now only need 10 more Democrats to break the filibuster and reopen the government. 45 Repubs and 5 Dems voted for the bill on Friday. With Graham and Flake now ready to vote for the bill, we only need 10 more Dems to reopen the government.

Then why does Trumpo need to get US taxpayers to pay for it?

When being an idiot one should not be calling anyone easily fooled.

To begin building it, dufus. Mexico will not begin to lose money because of the wall until the wall is functioning.

Probably should have rescinded DACA after the budget fight.

Trump did cause the shutdown when he promised to support a bi-partisan bill then reneged when presented with one.
You are completely stupid if you think he implied he would sign any fucked up bill put before him. The so called 'bipartisan' bill was written by Dems and RINOs. Lindsey Graham is a fucking Democrat at heart. Jeff Flake hates Trump and votes with the Dems often. The gang of six 'bipartisan' group consisted of ONE Republican (junior Senator from CO), THREE Democrats and TWO RINOs.

In addition, the proposed bill had not passed either House of Congress.

Nothing hateful about our tax dollars supporting a bunch of non Americans.

Oh and I'm not a Rep cupcake.

One would have to have a heart of stone to watch Schumer whinge that Trump didn't negotiate with him over the weekend without bursting into uproarious laughter.
