Have The Lines Ever Been More Clearly Drawn?

Have the lines ever been more clearly drawn? Has there ever been a more appropriate time to talk about peacefully going our separate ways? The alternative is likely to cost millions of lives. We as a “Nation” are far beyond coming back “together”. We need leadership to start discussing this issue peacefully, before the people escalate handling it themselves...

Our history of drawn lines can be traced back to the very founding of our nation - when Samuel Adams stood on the State House steps and basically told the people gathered there - you're with us or you're against us. If you're against us - leave -
'We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.'
"American Independence" - Samuel Adams Speech - August 1, 1776

The nation survived. More recently, the '60 were far more tumultuous than today, imo. I don't know that the lines are more clearly drawn, they are just more visible.

Oh the drama !!!!

Settle down Beavis . We actually live in pretty good times. So we argue over Facebook. Big deal. Look at history and see what real tough times were like .

Kinda wish you'd open up your profile so I could search your posts because I'm pretty sure you only go around sowing division and calling people names.

*edit* Remembered that you can use the search function and yes, that's exactly what you do.

Timmy falls down the well a lot... Never mind him

I love America so much that I think we should split it up over petty partisanship.
The differences are becoming less petty every day...

Or more overly-dramatic.

In another thread you said something about how you prefer indifference to hate, and also something about how partisan bickering is a source of many lolz. Back to the topic of hate...

Im not sure who I hate more, the radical left, corporate controlled politicians or nihilists who think everything is just a big joke.

Yes, making fun of the blind partisans and their hate has always been a source of comedy to me. Lampooning them is a great way to show how absurd they are.

I don't find the whole "let's split up the nation, let's have a civil war" sentiment that's becoming increasingly common lately funny in the slightest.

pro life on the right. ok.

"I’m hoping the victims were liberals"

Do you think it's going to get any "better"?

Of course.

Sure. A good start would be to marginalize those that think the other side is somehow inherently evil for not sharing their beliefs.
The only marginal parties of late; are the moderates... And their numbers are dwindling.
WRONG. Nobody got more votes than either Trump or Clinton.

Actually, if you look at that last election, and ask folks, there are more people that did not vote for any candidate offered b/c they knew the establishment offered no good choices. More folks opted to vote in their local elections only, or stay home than vote for either Trump or Clinton.

Fact Check: Who won? Trump, Clinton or 'did not vote'?

Sometimes it's so easy that I find myself feeling a little guilty doing it.

Then that feeling goes away and I get right back to it.
.

Stop that or you'll go blind..

It's my greatest weakness, and my sin. My moral failing, I admit.

I sometimes think it defeats my mission here.

/—-/ Libs should move to either Cuba or NK where they get everything they want, it’s a gun free society, free substandard healthcare and Republicans are executed at dawn.

Can't you just search threats started by me? Because I actually don't call people names unless I'm responding in kind.

I've pretty much given up trying to have normal conversations here. If I stumble into one, great, a pleasant surprise.

It's much easier in real life to have normal conversations.

Otherwise, I'm just here observing behaviors and occasionally belching out my opinion on stuff.

no one ever wants to focus on what people have in common.....why is that? most people want a good job, good health care and a secure place to raise a family
Because people want to resolve the conflicts that negatively effect them. In order to do that; one must focus on the differences.
But focusing on our differences is that which prevents us from resolving our problems. It's a bad cycle. When the ship sinks we are all going down with it.

I find it funny that most of the people calling for this civil war think they are going to all be the generals or the pens of the revolution. This civil war is going to have millions of generals and five grunts.

It's the differences which cause problems ignoring them, doesn't make them go away. When your house is burning down, the family doesn't sit down to discuss how delicious dinner was.

We work together to put the fire out. Not point fingers at who started it.

Then you do focus on the problem. And as long as you can all agree on how to put it out... It works out. When you don't... You're all getting new living accommodations...
And here we are. The nation is quite firmly, and clearly divided. Neither side seems compelled to give an inch more; or back down. Where do we go from here?
