Dunno but 100k for an electric car seems kinda nuts. Not too much demand for that if you ask me.

They say they have "future" plans to open a plant here but it was not required to obtain the money.

I know, I know!!
It's cheaper to build them in Finland without having to pay union wages!

:cuckoo:

This guy just loves to whip out that checkbook....
Every couple of minutes he's gotta be throwing that cash around.
Only in our case....

WE DON'T HAVE ANY FUCKING MONEY....WE BORROW $.40 ON EVERY DOLLAR SPENT

You guys - the fact that it is overseas is not the biggest problem
The outrage here should be that we have yet another example of where this administration has willfully threw taxpayer money down the drain for political reasons.

Look...between these two companies - over $1 Billion was loaned.
Company #1 - has only built 40 cars...FORTY CARS!!!!!!!!!!!
Company #2 - Tesla has been bleeding money from day one and is fully expected to go belly up without a constant feeding of public money.

THIS - is the outrage.

Absolutely, and don't forget the fact that it hasn't benefited the American taxpayer in any fashion.

I have heard that Al Gore is tied to it also but I'm unsure of the facts about his involvement.

One of the greatest frauds in the history of man is this green crap. Trillions on top of trillions flushed down the crapper on third rate energy resources and electric cars that will bounce here to the moon. We should be drilling and mining, but no. Our leadership is full of morons.

Yeah, we just borrow from one country and give it to another, what an idiot, obamaturd that is.

Problem is the cars cost 100k each and will be built overseas netting us NO JOBS FOR THE INVESTMENT.

Not Again: Stimulus Money Went to Car Company...in Finland - Kate Hicks

529 million down the toilet yet again. But hey its more important than hiring cops or teachers right? Lol yet Obama wants to lecture the gop on priorities. And don't forget we also gave a half billion to Tesla overseas.

Food for thought on (The Green Energy/Enviro-Whacko/AGW front)

Update: Fisker Karma Electric Car Gets Worse Mileage Than an SUV

The Fisker Karma electric car, developed mainly with your tax money so that a bunch of rich VC’s wouldn’t have to risk any real money, has rolled out with an nominal EPA MPGe of 52 in all electric mode (we will ignore the gasoline engine for this analysis).

Not bad? Unfortunately, it’s a sham. This figure is calculated using the grossly flawed EPA process that substantially underestimates the amount of fossil fuels required to power the electric car, as I showed in great depth in an earlier Forbes.com article. In short, the EPA methodology leaves out, among other things, the conversion efficiency in generating the electricity from fossil fuels in the first place.

Gore-Backed Car Firm Gets Large U.S. Loan <September 2009

SNIPS:
WASHINGTON -- A tiny car company backed by former Vice President Al Gore has just gotten a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland that will sell for about $89,000.

The award this week to California startup Fisker Automotive Inc. follows a $465 million government loan to Tesla Motors Inc., purveyors of a $109,000 British-built electric Roadster. Tesla is a California startup focusing on all-electric vehicles, with a number of celebrity endorsements that is backed by investors that have contributed to Democratic campaigns.

Henrik Fisker, who designed cars for BMW, Aston Martin and Tesla before starting his Fisker Automotive in 2007, said his goal is to build the first plug-in electric hybrids that won't sacrifice the luxury, performance and looks of traditional gas-powered luxury cars.

"This is not for average Americans," said Leslie Paige, a spokeswoman for Citizens Against Government Waste, an anti-tax group in Washington. "This is for people to put something in their driveway that is a conversation piece. It's status symbol thing."

The Karma will target an exclusive audience -- Gore was one of the first to sign up for one. Mr. Fisker says all new technology starts out being expensive. He pointed to flat-screen televisions that once started at $25,000 but are now affordable to the mass market.

In other words...another bilking SCAM...while Americans remain jobless... And yes...the automaker said there was no plant here in the US that could handle the manufacture of this status symbol.:eusa_whistle:

Tesla isn't anywhere near going "belly up". They just had an incredibly successful IPO, and and the corporation is well in the black. The only federal money they received was from a Bush program back in 2009.
