Grocery Prices have soared.

Energy prices started to skyrocket the day after President Biden was elected. As you know, Biden ran on a platform to shut down the use of fossil fuels.

Sigh.....Again, war and profiteering. Neither of which Biden had anything to do with.
Back to your ideological corner. :)

President Joe Biden is regularly promoting signs of a strengthening economy and easing inflation, but when it comes to the indicator closest to home, it’s a tough sell.

The surge in grocery prices since just before the Covid lockdown has been stunning: up more than 25%, a full 5 percentage points more than consumer prices overall.

Yep, the economy is doing just great, it's just your pocketbook that's suffering.

Russia took Crimea during the Obama/Biden administration, and we did nothing. Russia did nothing during the Trump administration and then moved into Ukraine once Biden was in office.

So you prove my statement for me?...not sure what you're driving at?
Pandemic started during your hero's last year in office. So begins the hike.
Then war.

Which is still lower than inflation around the world.
Not even close.

Now perhaps we do better than some in the developed world but much of Europe is dealing with disruption in supply, energy, etc. due to the Russia/Ukraine war.

But the leftist media can spin it any way they want but those of us on limited incomes are quite aware when we pay 100, 200, 300% more for basic groceries than we did three years ago. We know what the bill is when we fill up our gas tank. We notice how much more expensive gas, electricity, even water is now than it was three years ago. Those needing to move can't afford to replace their old home with one of comparable value because of escalated interest rates. A favorite brand of pants can be more than two to three times as expensive as it was three years ago. A raise in salary nowhere nearly offsets all that so the vast majority of Americans are experiencing significantly less buying power than they had three years ago. Thousands of dollars less buying power.

And almost all of that is due to Biden policies and reversal of Trump era policies. Such 'kitchen table' issues will hopefully strongly affect the vote come November. It is why that kitchen table was a brilliant choice as a setting for the rebuttal to the SOTU address.

So you do want government intervention into the market place? What should Biden do? We know companies aren't lowering their prices back to pre pandemic levels. It's why we raised minimum wage. It's why unions got raises last year. It's why CEO's got raises. Hell, even I got a inflation raise. Everyone at my company did.

Where do you work? Is it a big company? You may need to look for another job. Another thing companies do is not give current employees the raises they deserve. They/YOU have to go find another job if you want to make more money. Why pay you $20 hr when they already have you at $15? And they'll risk you, a good employee, will leave. It's part of the business model. Keep wages low and don't let them organize. No seat at the table for you.

What state do you live in?
I want the debt ceiling to never be raised again, and powers returned to the States and end the destruction of the dollar and our way of life.

Govt caused this.

Government caused a lot of the inflation though.

We were saying that in the 2000's. And don't act like this wasn't true the 4 years Trump was president. If it was, then it was true on Obama's watch too right? And probably just as true now.

And for years we've talked about people who retire need to consider inflation before they stop working.

You're acting like this wasn't an issue on Trump's watch. Or that it's getting harder for you because Biden is president.

What are you saying here Captain Obvious?

And remember this when in 10 years you guys are telling us we need to take a 25% cut in our social security. Talk about inflation. So fuck retirees now. They are getting 100% of their social security and medicare right?

AND, my dad got a big Cost Of Living COLA raise on his social security. So did every senior. Because of inflation. So waaah burger!!! Boomers are the ones who RUINED America those selfish mother fuckers.
Your dad must be proud, do you talk to him that way? Did he get a 25% COLA increase?

I buy most of my food with onnline coupons or at sale prices. I seldom dine out anymore unless I go on a date.

We got an extra chest freezer a year or two, ago....some time during COVID.

So we only buy food, especially any meat, on sale....same with bread, frozen veggies, ice cream, butter etc. things that can be frozen. It takes a lot of patience to wait it out for a sale, but eventually there will be one.

We go in a grocery store and I can come out buying hardly anything, I'm so shocked and disgusted by the prices....

my husband is better at simply accepting the prices and just says to me, "It is, what it is", and he just buys what he really wants, and skips other things.

the chest freezer, has made All the difference in our food affordability.
