1. Gregor Mendel, in full Gregor Johann Mendel, original name (until 1843) Johann Mendel, (born July 22, 1822, Heinzendorf, Silesia, Austrian Empire [now Hynčice, Czech Republic]—died January 6, 1884, Brünn, Austria-Hungary [now Brno, Czech Republic]), botanist, teacher, and Augustinian prelate, the first person to lay the mathematical foundation of the science of genetics, in what came to be called Mendelism.

2. A Catholic priest with a curiosity about certain traits in garden peas, Mendel kept detailed notes of the results of crossing plants for different characteristics.
It was the second filial generation that surprised Mendel, when a characteristic he though had been lost in the previous, reappeared in a 3:1 ratio.

3. While his work was not appreciated at the time......they were by Mendel.....For this priest, the astounding 3:1 ratio was God blessing his work, and providing what he saw as proof of the Holy Trinity......Three in One.

Of course, this was after Karl Marx assured us that religion was simply an opiate for the masses.....as every government school grad knows today.
