GREAT AGAIN: Trump/Walker To Announce New FOXCONN Plant in Wisconsin...

Before you guys go all GOP celebration on the WH lawn, you should know that this company has promised to build a factory here before (PA), but backed out and never built it. This was back in 2013.

WHAT IS FOXCONN'S RECORD?

Foxconn has promised to build plants around the world and backed out. Foxconn promised in 2013, for example, to invest $30 million and hire 500 workers for a new, high-tech factory in Pennsylvania that was never built.

___

HOW DOES FOXCONN TREAT ITS WORKERS?

Foxconn has struggled to meet high safety and other standards expected of consumer electronics brands while keeping costs low. Its Chinese plants making Apple products, especially, have drawn attention for worker suicides, accidents and labor disturbances. Labor advocates say the company imposes excessive overtime and pressure on workers, especially when it ramps up production ahead of new iPhone launches. Foxconn CEO Terry Gou has raised wages and pledged to prevent more deaths.

And, there's also the little fact that the groundbreaking isn't scheduled to even start until 2018.
Very interesting. Foxcomm wanted to build earlier but was stopped by onerous and burdensome regulations.

That makes sense.

Foxconn has promised factories all over the world that they have backed out of building. I'll believe it when I see it.

Besides, the groundbreaking isn't until 2018, so like I said, I wouldn't celebrate just yet.

Near record low Unemployment in Wisconsin, and now this. Nice job.

Apple-supplier Foxconn will announce a plant in Wisconsin on Wednesday evening, accompanied by President Donald Trump, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a source with knowledge of the announcement told CNBC.

U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., will also be present at the announcement in Washington, a source said. No exact location for plant has been chosen — but southeast Wisconsin is under consideration, according to a source.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Foxconn may be eyeing a new U.S. plants for display panels.

Yikes! Such pathetic butthurt wishful thinking. Unemployment is about to dip under 3% in Wisconsin. That's a historic record low. I know that pisses y'all haters off, but it's a great thing for the folks who live in Wisconsin. So good on Trump and Walker. They're doing their jobs.

Believe this... Wisconsin's about to experience a historic record low Unemployment. That's a far-cry from the terrible mess y'all Democrats left Scott Walker. The man's a damn miracle-worker.

I have lived my whole life in Wisconsin....under 3 percent is not even close to accurate just like the federal unemployment. Jack we have to borrow hundreds of billions to fix our roads. But walker is massively increasing school aid so that is a step in the right direction. I have to give walker kudos for a big increase in school spending.

Yes, he may very well go down as Wisconsin's greatest Governor.

Even if it does drop under 3 percent soon, it's not going to be because of Foxconn, because they don't even start groundbreaking for the factory for another year and a half.

No one has claimed it would be because of Foxxconn. You're allowing your irrational butthurt to get the best of you.

The fact is that this was likely in the works even before Trump was elected. The fact is that generally Presidents take too much of the blame and take too much of the credit. There are many reasons for companies to locate in the US and companies have been doing that even when Obama was President. He did nothing to help businesses.

Update: Foxconn Is Reconsidering Plan for Wisconsin Factory

Will that replace all the jobs Carrier sent to Mexico, after promising not to and accepting big subsidies from Trump?

Great negotiator, that Trump. however, maybe Trump didn't have a hand in this deal, so it might not suck.

And them some! :113:

Of course he had a hand in it. It was the new corporate tax rate that attracted them.

Well, originally Foxconn was going to put in a Gen 10 plant, which would have resulted in around 13,000 new jobs.

Now? After a bunch of confusion, Foxconn announces that they won't go with a Gen 10 plant, but rather a smaller one which is gonna be Gen 6. However, Foxconn hasn't told us how much smaller a Gen 6 is compared to a Gen 10.

Foxconn again shifts Wisconsin plan, says it will proceed with LCD factory after Trump intervenes

The company last year said it was reducing the scale of what was to be made in Wisconsin, from what is known as a Gen 10 factory to Gen 6. But this week, even that was thrown into question when Foxconn executive Louis Woo said it couldn't compete in the television screen market and would not be making LCD panels in Wisconsin.

But on Friday, in yet another twist, Foxconn said after discussions with the White House and a personal conversation between Trump and Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou, it plans to proceed with the smaller manufacturing facility.

"Great news on Foxconn in Wisconsin after my conversation with Terry Gou!" Trump tweeted.

Wisconsin's new Democratic governor criticized the company Friday for its flip-flopping.

"There's no limit, frankly, to skepticism if the messaging isn't coherent," Evers told reporters. "I'm comfortable that they're still committed to the state. They're committed to this Generation 6 technology, but that doesn't mean that we (won't) encourage them to be more transparent and consistent in their messaging."
