Gore Turned Down Glenn Beck For Qatar

Hey, it's the "free market", what's wrong or illegal about the sale? We have good relations with Qatar, so what's really the big deal? Beck has his own network, it's available on satellite tv.

Do we know what Beck's offer was? How do you know it was "free market"?... particularly when the information sited tells us that Beck was refused for ideological reasons.

Since when is there no "ideology" in the "free market"?

A "free" market means that people are free to make whatever contracts they like, for whatever reason they like.

BTW, Current TV runs excellent documentaries.

You rw's wouldn't like it. There's no Honey BooBoo or unREal Housewives shit. Just intelligent programming.

I guess you're referring to Oliver Stone's propaganda film. You know the one where he distorts and lies about the history of America.

What exactly are you talking about?

Some stuff from Stone on Showtime. Supposed to be VERY interesting and eye opening (a grain of salt not a bad idea once in a while I suppose)- NOT the cleaned up myth Pub dupes believe in...and Raygun the semi demented- Read "The Good Old Days- They Were TERRIBLE", dupes. lol

Except corporations, either controlled or scared by the RW, don't exactly ALLOW free speech, dupe.

Which, of course, is why the Democrats want to silence those corporations.

Congratulations! When you want corporations controlling the countrym you're a FASCIST! lol

When you call ALL Muslims terrorists, dingbats, that may be what you call "self-fulfilling prophecy" in the end. Perish the thought you might get educated. Ugly 'Merican Pub dupes- the worst voters in the modern world- dying off thank god.:lol:

You realize that corporations running government has absolutely nothing to with fascism, right?

However, your assumption is absurd. Simply not being paranoid about people in business doesn't mean I am advocating they take over the government. Here's a crazy idea, how about we just leave them alone to do business and get government out of everything they aren't Constitutionally authorized to be in?

And who is calling all muslims terrorists? Sheesh, can you have a single conversation without a straw man?

Wrong again. One of the main reasons you can tell Hitler wasn't a socialist or even MORE ridiculous, a communist. And yes, I have a Masters in history, with a bit of a focus on Adolf.

And I'm dying to see AJ, what with the crappe foreign coverage from our media. They have 71 news outlets around the world- NO PROBLEM with money- and a great thing for the Arab world especially. NOT a terrorist outfit like Fox BS goes on about. EVERYONE else gets them- what are we (YOU) afraid of?:lol:

#72- Except corporations, either controlled or scared by the RW, don't exactly ALLOW free speech, dupe. Up to now, you CAN"T watch AJ on TV in the USA.
WRONG, as usual, you drunken stooge.

We Have DIRECT TV, the premium package.....I can watch it anytime I damn well please, through one of the BBC networks.

So yes, you can watch it on TV in the US.

Lay down the bottle and get a sober fuckin' clue, Jethro.

I agree, that you are free to do that, this is why we are on these forums. Glenn Beck is a guy that makes a show of it and states that he believes in it. Is that what Turkish people believe in? How about Lebanese people? Have there been any homosexuals put to death in Qatar solely because they were homosexuals? Are women treated as chattel in Qatar?

So now you are going to deflect and say that women and gays are cool with the Islamists?

Nice....
How is directly replying to a statement on a post now suddenly "deflecting"? Where did I state that "women and gays are cool with the Islamists" in my post?

Think about it Sparky...in the places you listed, there are no gays. Just ask them..
And women's rights....? Yeah right...

But hey, what do I know. :dunno:

Thats just like you liberal pukes... side with Al Jazeera.

Have you bought you a prayer rug yet? :doubt:

I'm not a liberal, and I'm not siding with anyone. It's Gore's company, he can do whatever he wants with it. But it's just like you conservo-pukes to try to dictate to other people how they should live and act, just because you don't like it.

Yes you are.... your siding with Al Gore and his choice to sell to a group that would lop his, and your dome off in a heartbeat.

Yes, its capitalism.... but this is MY freedom of speech as well.

I think Al Gore is a pathetic fuck, and a traitor as well.

Why would al-Jazeera cut off Al Gore's head, or for that matter, my head?

Glen Beck was too "right wing" - So Gore sold to "an authoritarian-Islamist government that has criminalized homosexuality, discriminates against non-Muslims, prosecutes journalists, and has a “Not Free” rating from Freedom House."

Before Al-Jazeera, there was Glenn Beck.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Glenn Beck’s media company, The Blaze, approached Current Media about a sale last year, but was told in the words of one source that “the legacy of who the network goes to is important to us and we are sensitive to networks not aligned with our point of view.”

In explaining the reasons for selling to Al-Jazeera, Current co-founder and CEO Joel Hyatt told the Journal that the Qatari-based broadcaster “was founded with the same goals we had for Current,” including “to give voice to those whose voices are not typically heard” and “to speak truth to power.”

Sure, Al Jazeera can “speak truth to power,” as long as the powerful are not in Qatar.

And Cheney's company, Halliburton, moved to Dubai after getting all those no contract bids from our government.

Cheney retired from Halliburton before taking office as VP in 2000. Halliburton moved its corporate office to Dubai in 2007.

Do you have a point?
Nope. Just irrational hatred.

Free speech doesn't mean you get to watch whatever lefty swill you want and somebody else pays the bill, moron.

Besides, you've always been able to get it on the internet. Moron.

My google is broken:). Can someone look up "Saudi Royal owns large share of Newscorp":)

7% is not "large".

When your Google starts working again, maybe you can look up "Al Jazeera owns 100% of Current TV".

7% is the amount of debt we owe China. According to many of the nutters here, that's HUGE.
Does China have a say in how we run the government?

No?

Then the Saudi doesn't have a say in how Fox is run, does he?

Just because you say so? Do you know for a fact that the Saudi Prince that owns shares of Fox has zero say in anything? Although it is "only" 7%, it is the 2nd largest block of their stock.

I'm sure that you were joking about the "no gays" part.

Well, you may not know this:
"Women in Qatar vote and may run for public office. Qatar enfranchised women at the same time as men in connection with the 1999 elections for a Central Municipal Council.[17][18] These elections—the first ever in Qatar—were deliberately held on 8 March 1999, International Women’s Day.[17]

Qatar sent women athletes to the 2012 Summer Olympics that began on 27 July in London.["

So, you claim he has a say, based solely on your pouting and foot-stamping.

Your evidence is less than compelling.
