Somebody check the temperature in Hell ...

During a recent installment of his 700 Club show, Robertson said:

"Those people in the Republican primary have got to lay off this stuff. They're forcing their leaders, the frontrunners into positions that will mean they will lost the general election...

"You appeal to the narrow base. And they'll applaud the daylights out of what you're saying, and then you hit the general election and they say 'no way.' The Democrat, whoever it is, is going to just play these statements to the hilt. They've got to stop this. It's just so counterproductive. Well, if they want to lose, this is the game for losers."

Yeah but Robertson didn't say "the GOP base is too extreme". Leftie Soros tax exempt "media matters" fans just want to think Robertson said it. The hysterical left is running on emotion after hope and change were dumped. Pat Robertson said he wanted the GOP candidates to stop sniping at each other. It's good advice but it's not major news.

Isn't Pat R. a little eccentric...like extreme....
Seems the GOP is anything but extreme compared to Pres. Obama and the liberal base.
The likes of marxism and socialism (which should have been considered extremism for the United States) is largely been ignored by the media. The U.S is turning a page that even their friends to the North can't grasp! Even Canada wouldn't be seduced to the extreme socialism Pres. Obama is earning.
Come on guys...Canada relies on your Capitalism for exchange of goods and commerce.
Where is your leadership.

well, he didn't exactly say they're too extreme. he kinda sorta said they just shouldn't talk about how extreme they are.

the first rule of fight club is don't talk about fight club.

Pat Robertson is a RINO ...
Pat Robertson is an egomaniacal freak show of one.

Him claiming that the crew running for the GOP nomination is "too extreme" is like Joe Rogan going on about how un-funny Carlos Mencia is.

the current crop of gop candidates sucks for the reasons he cited.

even a blind squirrel finds an acorn

Presidential Election politics 101- appeal to the base in the primaries, then move to the center in the general. Dah!!

The current crop of candidates sucks because he's not one of them.

NPR cites Pat Robertson as a credible source?!?

Speaking of checking the temperature in hell.....
Actually, that is par for their course, IMO.

I agree. This is exactly what "It's All Politics" likes to talk about. And they're not citing his statements as fact, they're reporting his statements. Other NPR programs routinely have on fairly far-right guests, and some studies have even found NPR more likely to have on conservative than liberal guests: NPR - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Are Robertson's statements true? In general, politicians participating in primaries risk adopting positions that will hurt them in the general election. However, the nominee will probably be Romney, and I don't recall him adopting any extreme positions lately. Robertson's statements probably serve better as a general warning than as a response to any particular event in the current race.
