(sarcastically) Compassion, compassion, compassion.

They guy who lost his house was interviewed last night. He said he forgot the 75 bucks, but paid all his other taxes. He tried to pay the Firefighters and neighbors came out and offered the Firefighters even MORE money.

Worse, several of the firefighters were reported sick and crying. Some simply went home.

Is this the "Moral America" Glenn is talking about? Tea Party "morals"?

What if Social Security is privatized? And those people lose their money? Do they live on the street?

Is this what the right is pushing? Every man for himself?

Is it easier for someone like Glenn Beck who makes 32 million a year watch someone else's house to burn down?

He's entitled to his opinion...but I'm surprised he made fun of the guy's southern accent. What an elitist twit.

What is your problem now? I thought you opposed letting people not pay for something until after they needed it, or does that only apply to health care?

Why is this even news? Why? Some guys house burns down and its all over the news?

Because of the callous way it happened. Don't worry about it. No one expects you to understand. You're still a good Conservative.

Yep...but they tried. I bet most firefighters would not stand by and watch a house burn to the ground.

When Federal Way first became a city, they decided they wanted a fully paid fire department. Previously it was almost fully volunteer. They fired the volunteers, told the not to come no matter what. Worse, when they did hire firefighters, they didn't hire any of those volunteer firefighters who'd been working for them for years.

No one's house should be allowed to burn down because of a crappy $75.00. The mayor of the city should be FIRED!!! They need to find a better way, even if it's an all volunteer fire department. Ours worked a lot better before they were paid than they do now.

If I was the neighbor whose house the fire spread to, I'd sue the fire department for all the damages caused because they refused to put the fire out before it got to my house.

It's OK Frank. Just be satisfied you don't know how to put yourself in someone else's shoes. You don't have to be bothered with how someone who is in pain feels.

You're a very good conservative. Just be happy with that.

How many calls did they respond to that they were legally barred from responding to?

It's a good thing the WTc paid it's fire fee back in 1993... imagine how much worse that bombing could have been otherwise.

Typical liberal response. They want to set the laws and regulations one way, and then have that all disappear when it becomes inconvenient. And somehow, the fault is OURS for not being "compassionate" enough, rather than theirs for setting up insupportable systems.

I'm not saying this town is liberal. I'm just saying that the liberals around here are projecting their bullshit worldview onto the story.

better question;

how many house fires did the FDNY respond to that were outside of their legal jurisdiction?

this is a harbinger of what would happen in a republican paradise. your house would burn down, because you dont deserve for it not to burn down, because you cant buy your own fire deparment.
