Glenn Beck: Firefighters Right to Let Home Burn

this is a harbinger of what would happen in a republican paradise. your house would burn down, because you dont deserve for it not to burn down, because you cant buy your own fire deparment.

Whereas the democrat way is to expect someone else to pay for you.

"The problem with socialism is that, sooner or later, you run out of other people's money." Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister.

I had no insurance on my rental property for 10 years & caught fire & burn down a couple of years ago. It was a Huge & painful $150,000 loss to me.

So now that the democrats are in charge I should be able to pay my old insurance company the $15,000 I saved by not paying them the insurance & then they should pay me the $150,000 for a new house. :woohoo:

How many firemen died last year in NYC alone, do you have any idea?

How many people lost their lives in fires last year, do you have any idea?
How many times did the FDNY stand around and watch someone's home burn down?

How many calls did they respond to that they were legally barred from responding to?
They weren't legally barred from responding.

better question;

how many house fires did the FDNY respond to that were outside of their legal jurisdiction?
I don't know, but they go when asked to provide help.

I am willing to bet they would not stand by idly as a house burned down as the South Fulton dudes did.

Where I live, it is quite common for surrounding fire depts to assist in putting out fires in neighboring jurisdictions so the fires won't spread.

Days later and we're still talking about this guy.

Why?

Because he is a fucking moron who is too stupid to take care of himself and his property, so many think we should do it for him. We have made a celebrity out of a man who is too stupid to live.

His problem isn't that his house burned down and the fire department didn't stop it.

His problem is that he is a fucking idiot.

Fire service isn't in the Constitution, it isn't a right.

Yet.

Sheesh....

Rather than standing firm on Conservative/Libertarian dogma, why couldn't the fire department put out the fire and then charge the homeowner for their time and expenses?

That seems to be the solution.

Stand around and watch someone lose their home and then thump chests and proclaim a Conservative victory?!? Why not do the right thing first and then rape the victim latter? You want to screw a working man blue anyway.

That way, Conservatives could have their cake AND eat it too!

Rights not enumerated in the constitution are reserved for the states.

The fire deaprtment could have put out the fire, then charged the victim for time and expenses. The fire department had all the sense of literal right and no sense of absolute right.

And is fire service a Right in the State of Tennessee?

Nope.

He chose not to pay it.

He may or may not have chosen to be a fucking idiot, but all of these things are what they are.

This is Obamacare in a bottle. Why pay for something before you need it if paying at the moment of need is an option?

I totally love these threads.... start off talking about a particular incident, then - in order to make partisan points - people start throwing strawmen into the argument and.... hey presto..... the thread takes some completely ridiculous turns! Fun stuff to watch.

Funny, this thread.

I wonder how many people on this thread arguing that the legally correct thing to do was to watch the fire (regardless of the moral wrong)...argue the moral wrongness of the NYC Mosque even tho it is legally correct thing to build.

The average cost to maintain a fire department & fight fire is about $20k per fire.

They already billed the guy only $75 & he did not pay.

You now propose sending him a bill for $20k to save his home & hope he will pay that one?

I do think they probably could have negotiated & had him sign over his house as collateral for the cost or accepted an up front $20K cash payment.

Nothing in the constitution about raping small children either.

YouTube - Beck On Family's Whose Home Burned Down As Firefighters Watched

(sarcastically) Compassion, compassion, compassion.

They guy who lost his house was interviewed last night. He said he forgot the 75 bucks, but paid all his other taxes. He tried to pay the Firefighters and neighbors came out and offered the Firefighters even MORE money.

Worse, several of the firefighters were reported sick and crying. Some simply went home.

Is this the "Moral America" Glenn is talking about? Tea Party "morals"?

What if Social Security is privatized? And those people lose their money? Do they live on the street?

Is this what the right is pushing? Every man for himself?

Is it easier for someone like Glenn Beck who makes 32 million a year watch someone else's house to burn down?

You are such a jealous little turd aren't you? Left out a few important facts didn't ya? This is the second time this nincompoop tried to pay WHEN his house caught fire. Everyone else pays yearly but this nincompoop thinks he should pay only when his house catches fire. Shame on him. I bet he never does that again.

No, they couldn't have, because that's not the way the citizens of that area set up the system. Guess they should have consulted YOU from the outset, huh?

Why do some people just not understand that there are rules, and you can't just ignore them whenever you "feel" it's a good idea?

He's entitled to his opinion...but I'm surprised he made fun of the guy's southern accent. What an elitist twit.

Oh please, I've been all across this country and have been laughed at for my southern drawl thousands of times. And of those times it was never done in a mean-spirited way. Get a life and grow the fuck up!

Why is this even news? Why? Some guys house burns down and its all over the news?

Because of the callous way it happened. Don't worry about it. No one expects you to understand. You're still a good Conservative.

Callus? The man didn't pay 75 bucks that he should have paid to insure fire protection.

So let the house burn....we get it.

Next, our Conservatives will support turning people away from Emergency rooms if they haven't paid up on their premiums. Wait for it.

Yes let the house burn. Would you do your job for free? That's assuming you have a job. I'm willing to bet you're on the govt. teat.
