France hates the new Napoleon film

In Vietnam it was a lot more than you think due to the VC and NVA attacks on various support facilities. Many support troops had to man the permeter wire during an attack and they did fire their weapons. Not infantry search and destroy but trigger pulling never the less.

Having spent 30 months over there I would guess the number is more than you quoted. Probably higher than WWII but less than Korea.

My son told me that he didn't think one in ten pulled their triggers during the Iraq invasion, which he participated.

If you were in Vietnam and have a different opinion I would like to hear it.

However, that deflection discussion has nothing to do with the despicable way that the Libtard turds in Hollywood have portrayed the war.
What is your opinion of the film Platoon?

The parts about what it was like to be a new guy was fairly accurate.

The scenes of the brutality in the village were pure Hollywood trash.

There were many different personalities over there and some of them approached the characters in the movie but I never ran across a SSG Barnes.

The great majority of the troops of all branches (including the draftees) went over, did their job honorably and competently and then rotated out.

A real movie about a typical real tour of duty in Vietnam would be probably boring. Mostly hard work and boredom interspersed with brief times of extreme excitement and even terror.

The Film has not been universally panned .
Several reputable major critics have reviewed it very favourably .
It may be that Scott has given the public a more honest portrait of someone who actually was far from a military genius and not a pleasant individual .

Time will allow for a more balanced assessment
Hmmm, almost can't remember when a film scooped the researchers. No, I can't.

This is not like Spielberg's Lincoln...Does Napoleon , eg, ever say

This was a great Ridley Scott film, the Duelists, great actors and the whole production was fantastic, the cinematography second to none very atmospheric, this was a great scene from the film, the Duel kicks off at 3 30m

Wrong! Libtards like you are considered the most obnoxious assholes in the world.

It is a frigging movie. If you are dependent upon Hollywood to teach you history then you are an idiot.
I speak French. taught it, my History masters is mostly that.and English propaganda is perfidious....

It is perplexing that the French, with their deep commitment to republican ideals, so revere Napoleon. His whole existence was based upon making war. He was an expert at it, but that is hardly admirable. The destruction of France and Europe that ensued is not fully taken into account. The two World Wars can almost be entirely laid at his feet, ultimately, not to mention the millions of dead directly from his butchery.

Who is this "all" whom you address? Do you dispute Napoleon's failures and excesses? Of course the English have a self-interested twist to this story as they always do. That doesn't let the "Emperor" off the hook for screwing France, Europe and the ideals of the republican revolution.

Your command of English is rather lacking. Your understanding of Napoleon is similar.

BS lol. I lost voice Text. I also know the French side, speak French, Sorbonne etc...and the socialists WON in continental Europe lol...also in uk, just have to call them Labour.....
Then you know what French Socialists and Communists think of Napoleon. The common knowledge of him is like any country's historical lore; distorted and glorifying to the general image of the nation despite all the negative. Just like Americans who only see their history as the savior of mankind. Nice to think that. Makes living more comfortable.

Missed that .
Did this all happen yesterday?
Were we fooled by sweeping right and populist gains in Germany , France Italy and Spain -- the larger EU players .
Amazing that matters could change so much while I slept .

When the French attacked Regensburg with 1oo,ooo soldiers 8,ooo Austrians defended this independent capital of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nation. And what can I say: they lost. Astonishing, isn't it? But this was the only battle in the life of the aggressive coward Napoleon where he had been wounded on his own. After his victory this mass-murderer executed 3,000 citizens. Who has more feeling than only contempt for this absurde man of world history is an idiot in my eyes.

There's by the way a common element between the mass-murderers Alexander, Cesar, Napoleon, Hitler and Stalin. Alexander was no born Greek, Cesar was no born Roman, Napoleon was no born French, Hitler was no born German and Stalin was no born Russian. ... Ahm .. sorry: Cesar was a born Roman. Thought he had been adopted. ...
