Flu vaccines..there is more than one type of vaccine and several strains of the flu..So one flu shot is good for only one strain..

    From the CDC...

CDC conducts studies each year to determine how well the influenza (flu) vaccine protects against flu illness. While vaccine effectiveness can vary, recent studies show that flu vaccination reduces the risk of flu illness by between 40% and 60% among the overall population during seasons when most circulating flu viruses are well-matched to the flu vaccine. In general, current flu vaccines tend to work better against influenza B and influenza A(H1N1) viruses and offer lower protection against influenza A(H3N2) viruses.

Along with this nice little graph.

The effectiveness of the vaccine is directly related to how well the vaccine matches the current virus spreading in the community.

Even when a flu vaccine doesn't prevent contracting the flu, there are significant benefits to the being inoculated.

    1. It has shown to reduce the incidences of flu that require hospitalization (particularly in those with chronic health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or chronic respiratory problems).

    2. It is shown to reduce the effects of the flu in healthy individuals.

    3. It produces a significant (50%) drop in flu associated respiratory problems in pregnant women both pre-and-post natal.

That being said, I in no way advocate anyone getting a flu shot if they're not comfortable with it ... I appreciate the usefulness of natural selection.

That’s why I say vaccines of any type should be 100% choice, vaccines don’t work on me obviously that’s why I’ve only had one in my life and it did not work…
