Fairness Doctrine Senate Hearings on the Way?

she totally disregards the fact that Air America is a bust and no one wants to hear her shit, so she wants to force us to listen.. Chavez ring any bells???

But no one would be forced to listen to anything.

Where did you get that idea?

What is the damge to anyone with the FD in place?

Rating drop ... they can no longer sell commercial time ... they then can no longer afford to pay the employees ... they go out of business ... then they all end up on welfare. That pretty much damages everyone.

How does that happen simply because they have to tell the truth or allow an opposing view?

None of what you claim happened while it was in effect for years.

Um ... yeah. Perhaps because of luck ... or maybe the demographics in the areas effected just happened to be changing at the time ... or maybe because it really wasn't enforced anyway since all those people in the area who liked what was on just never said anything. Back then it would have been harder to monitor, today though, they could monitor more with all the idiotic "watchdog" groups on both sides. So yeah, of course it wouldn't cause much of an effect the first time. You don't care about truth or facts either, you just want your ideas forced on others. No matter how right or wrong an idea is, forcing people to hear it is bad enough, forcing them to say it is just wrong on so many levels and VERY anti-American. I believe in equal rights, but taking away anothers rights just to give someone else rights is wrong.

Truth - you are advocating serious government intervention within an industry as vital to free speech and expression as any. Not just regarding things such as decency type laws and such, (which has gotten out of hand as it is) but with the vague concept of "fairness".

The simple fact is that on a national scale, "progressive" aka liberal radio has struggled. Conservative radio has flourished. Such is the current economic truth.

The system is already fair in that those programs most popular do well and those that don't - won't.

If you wish to apply fairness to all avenues of public airwaves, then what of network news? What of entertainment programs with a clearly left-leaning bias?

Let people watch what they wish, listen to what they wish, and keep the government out of the decision.

Do you really trust the government that much? What shall you do when Republicans control the political environment again - and they will. What then Truth? Do you wish to give them the keys to the fairness kingdom then?

I sure as hell don't.

wonder how she plans to force sponsers to sponser her shit?? doyathink?

Who owns the airwaves and why?

How much do the broadcasters pay to use them?

don't know,, you gonna tell us or not?

The American people have always owned the airwaves.

This was desided because there are a limited number of them and owning them would constitute a monopoly on the ability to speak.

The Broadcasters have never paid the peopel one red cent for the use EVER.

The estimate of the value of the use is arround 500 billion.

They make billions on selling the comercial time.

Think of what we could do with that money if we charged them.

Cant they at least NOT LIE to us?

well, she cannot seem to answer her own questions.. dribble and dreck!

Um ... wow, and I thought I knew the least on this subject but even I know they pay taxes to use the "air waves", ie broadcast space.
