Fairness Doctrine Senate Hearings on the Way?

I am of the mind that DoesntMatters doesn't care about the economy or about enterprises at all, probably doesn't even give a shit about the right to stay in business for anyone. Ever notice that when any station (TV or radio) stands too strongly on an unpopular topic? They go out of business and all those who work for them lose their jobs, and believe me you wouldn't want such a station on your resume, so most probably stayed jobless.Local media does what's popular to their area, thus they can make a profit and stay up, otherwise the employees wind up in the unemployment lines or on welfare.

The truth is in the context of the question - or the timing of it.

Please note no such support for this Doctrine when it was a Republican administration. NO, at that time, no such trust of the government's "fairness" hand was afforded.

Now we have Democrat control of the White House, the Congress, and well what do you know! Now the government has become trustworthy again! :cuckoo:

I have news for you regarding giving up your freedoms...

On a slightly related note:

When I was on a road trip we would listen to the local stations talk shows so we could tell what type of area we were in, it was great being able to know if it was an area we felt comfortable staying for long or not. It also kept us out of trouble the whole trip. In Utah, for instance, most of what we found were religious programming, had to stop for gas knowing we didn't like the area, sure enough some cop decided to harass us. Wasted about three hours, using the "this care has to be stolen" reason. Finding nothing he had to let us go finally. We didn't even bother trying to report it because we knew this kind of area, and just left as soon as we could. Found a small town later that had Howard Stern on one station (shocking in Utah) so we stopped there for the night and had a great time chatting with the locals, even one of the local cops who just treated us like tourists (which we were technically). If not for the local talk stations we would have probably ended up in jail on trumped or non-existant charges, or worse.

What is the damge to anyone with the FD in place?

Rating drop ... they can no longer sell commercial time ... they then can no longer afford to pay the employees ... they go out of business ... then they all end up on welfare. That pretty much damages everyone.

How does that happen simply because they have to tell the truth or allow an opposing view?

None of what you claim happened while it was in effect for years.
