“Exodus is an institution in the conservative Christian world, but we’ve ceased to be a living, breathing organism,” said Alan Chambers, President of Exodus. “For quite some time we’ve been imprisoned in a worldview that’s neither honoring toward our fellow human beings, nor biblical.”

Chambers continued: “From a Judeo-Christian perspective, gay, straight or otherwise, we’re all prodigal sons and daughters. Exodus International is the prodigal’s older brother, trying to impose its will on God’s promises, and make judgments on who’s worthy of His Kingdom. God is calling us to be the Father – to welcome everyone, to love unhindered.”

For these reasons, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to close Exodus International and begin a separate ministry. “This is a new season of ministry, to a new generation,” said Chambers. “Our goals are to reduce fear (reducefear.org), and come alongside churches to become safe, welcoming, and mutually transforming communities.”

If a link to think progress makes you whine and you cannot seem to get past the name Thinkprogress here is another link to a blog: BREAKING: Alan Chambers Announces Exodus International Is Shutting Down | Truth Wins Out

"Love unhindered". See when I read the Bible that's not the message I got.

But hey, whatever destroys the American Family is a good thing and Homosexuality and Depravity does just that.

Where the radical RW fundamentalist Christians go wrong is they focus on this sin to persecute. God say that all sin is sin, lying is no better or worse than homosexuality. However, they've focused on it and have shown their hypocrisy.

It's time for them to wise-up now.

From Exodus International's web site:

Exodus International, the oldest and largest Christian ministry dealing with faith and homosexuality announced tonight that it’s closing its doors after three-plus decades of ministry. The Board of Directors reached a decision after a year of dialogue and prayer about the organization’s place in a changing culture.

“We’re not negating the ways God used Exodus to positively affect thousands of people, but a new generation of Christians is looking for change – and they want to be heard,” Tony Moore, Board member of Exodus. The message came less than a day after Exodus released a statement apologizing (www.exodusinternational.org/apology) to the gay community for years of undue judgment by the organization and the Christian Church as a whole.

That took a lot of courage, and a great deal of pride had to be swallowed.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

St. Paul excoriates masturbators and homosexuals in the same breath. So when you measure fags, you are measuring yourself, too.

Think Progress, telling us what George Soros has to say today.

Chambers no longer believes that reparitive therapy works or is necessary. He will continue his ministry in other areas.

<----There is the corner to cry in...I gave 3 links because you are so predictable lol

Dunno why exactly they would apologize for their beliefs.. unless rather than just a choice, they are considering it a disorder where it is not therapy that is needed but treatment like other disorders... because it is not a genetic trait or new genetic sex make-up

I've never heard of this group before. But then again, I've never believed homos could be re-programmed, so I never paid attention to which organizations I should send all the homophobes.

Homosexuals cannot be reprogrammed any more than heterosexuals can be reprogrammed. The ones who claim they have been "cured" of being gay, were never gay to begin with. They were just conditioned to believe they were gay. At some point, they recognize that they weren't and looked for some kind of therapy. They didn't need therapy.

There is nothing that says Chambers has suddenly become pro gay, he just recognized that his form of therapy was unnecessary and didn't work.

You gave him every chance not to fall in that hole.

One trick pony only has one trick. It sad that he and some others are so predicatable that I tried to stop him and he just couldn't help himself.

Nobody in this country should live in fear for what they believe in. And people say gay folks are the victims. Guess again.

true, they should apologize to us for being so INTOLERANT of others who don't bow down and kiss the ground they walk on..

they aren't any more speeeeecial than anyone else...
