Elvis Aaron Presley

I was never an Elvis fan either....although I did like his music from time to time. I liked what I read about him...his kindnesses. His face. And I liked his movies too. But I still miss his presence.

If you ever get the chance to go to Graceland take it. I mean damn the last instrument he ever played is there for everyone to see and it comes with a backstory.

There's also a hall of records that will boggle your mind. It's rooms full of gold and platinum records, instruments that he played at famous performances, outfits that he wore...

Totally worth it.

And it's in Memphis where the food alone is worth going to visit

Did European women adore him too? Yes they did.

Too handsome for words .... just too handsome.

"This Elvis classic borrows the chord progression as well as the melody from the Italian song "O Sole Mio," which was first recorded by Giuseppe Anselmi in 1907. Mario Lanza popularized the song, and Tony Martin released the first English translation as "There's No Tomorrow" in 1949.

When Elvis was in the US army, he was stationed in Germany and heard "O Sole Mio." When he was discharged, he asked his record company to write an English translation for him, a task that went to songwriters Aaron Schroeder and Wally Gold."

'It's now or never' --that was a good one.

lol--I assume Willie Nelson wrote this one--probably did not--probably written by someone else and he decided to sing it.

eta:

"Always on My Mind" is an American country music song by Johnny Christopher, Mark James and Wayne Carson, recorded first by Brenda Lee in 1972.

Allmusic lists over 300 recorded releases of the song in versions by dozens of performers.[1] While Brenda Lee's version had stalled at #45 on the country charts in 1972, other performers would reach the top 20 in the United States and elsewhere with their own versions: Elvis Presley in 1972; John Wesley Ryles in 1979; Willie Nelson's Grammy Award winning version in 1982; Pet Shop Boys in 1987.

"The Wonder Of You recorded by Elvis on Wednesday, 18 February 1970; Concert
Written by: Knight
Originally recorded by Ray Peterson in 1959

Apparently written by Baker Knight for Perry Como, but then given to Ray Peterson, who scored a Top 30 US hit in the summer of 1959 (apparently, Ray had a 4 1/2 octave range at the time). RCA reissued Ray's version in 1964, when it reached number 70 in the US Pop charts. Elvis's version reached considerably higher. Peterson himself relates a telling tale: "He [Elvis] asked me if I would mind if he recorded 'The Wonder of You.' I said, 'You don't have to ask permission; you're Elvis Presley.' He said, 'Yes, I do. You're Ray Peterson.'" Peterson died in January, 2005."

the last song he performed--fitting.

I would have said --written by the Righteous Brothers

Google Says:
"Can't Help Falling in Love" is a pop song originally recorded by American singer Elvis Presley and published by Gladys Music, Elvis Presley's publishing company. It was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss. The melody is based on "Plaisir d'Amour"[2] (1784), a popular romance by Jean Paul Egide Martini (1741–1816). It was featured in Elvis Presley's 1961 film, Blue Hawaii. During the following four decades, it went on to be covered by numerous artists, like the British reggae group UB40, whose 1993 version topped the U.S. and UK charts, and Swedish pop group A-Teens.

an observation--

so far, in my life, Elvis seems to be one of the few people that is not 'hated' for some reason.

probably should stop while I am ahead.
