Elizabeth Warren proposes canceling student loan debt and offering free public college

Go ahead and push your people to run on a 70 percent tax rate. They won’t.
Bernie Sanders wants 52% about what Reagan had success with before he f***** the whole thing with 28% on the way out....

Bernie wants 52 percent yet shit himself when asked why he was taking every loophole to get his own ass into the low 20 percent. Reminds me of the Democrats passionately pushing for Obamacare and then immediately exempting themselves from it.

You people are so full of shit. Put your own fucking money where your mouth is before taking other people’s money.
Absolutely irrelevant, super hater dupe of the greedy idiot Rich GOP. Everyone pays the taxes they owe, and these ridiculously low taxes on the rich are the problem and the GOP has made them so. No sacrifice by the middle-class and working-class is too great so that we can save the rich, right dupe? LOL.

You can keep slinging your dupes and swimming in your class warfare but the core problem is egregious spending on failed programs.
every modern country ever has had progressive tax systems until the United States today, where the rich pay the same percentage wise as the middle class and not much more than the working class if you count all Texas. Google the only tax graph you need to know. Of course they have to cut services for regular people so now we have the worst inequality and upward Mobility ever. Great job scumbag GOP and silly dupes like you...

We have the worst economic mobility? ??? Compared to whom?? Inequality is a null statement. You people can’t even define it or come to a consensus among your side as to what it means. You just sling it so you can go after the high income earners; not necessarily the wealthy.

Why though when we could borrow another trillion for bombing brown people instead? That's what real nationalism is about, right?

Anyway, sarcasm aside, this will be Donald's 2020 competitor. You better take her seriously. Calling her Pocahontas won't be good enough.

Elizabeth Warren proposes canceling student loan debt and offering free public college

The proposal would cancel up to $50,000 in debt for people with annual household income under $100,000. Beyond that income threshold, smaller amounts of debt would be canceled, but no one with more than $250,000 in household income would be eligible.

To keep students from accumulating more debt in the future, Warren also proposes making two- and four-year public colleges tuition free, according to a plan unveiled in advance of a Monday evening CNN town hall focused on issues of interest to young voters.

With a price tag of $1.25 trillion over 10 years, Warren’s higher-education initiatives up the ante on an issue that most 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have been trying to address in more modest ways.
Most of the countries that respect their citizens they provide decent health care and cheap education. I'm glad I grow up in a poor country where higher education was available for free.
Cut spending from the military, WH, Congress, foreign aid ( Israel 3 billion), and other programs
Also educating the masses will ensure the death of racism and bigotry hence, ***** like trump can never make it.

When you say "fraud is being committed on Americans", are Americans' personal wealth or pursuit of Economic Prosperity being compromised? Socialism will take personal wealth and pursuit of economic prosperity all under the guise of protecting from billionaires' activities. Thank you but I would rather deal with billionaires in a capitalist economy vs. crony capitalists in a socialist economy. I make more money and enjoy more personal freedom in the former.
I thought as you do...once. No longer. We live in a terribly corrupt system. Income inequality is off the charts.

You may be fine with half of humanity living lives of poverty, while these billionaire cocksuckers gain more wealth and power, I am not.

American poverty or global poverty? You said half of humanity lives of poverty so I assume you mean global poverty. People suffering from global poverty would love the opportunity to be in America.
Yes global. There certainly is plenty of poverty in the US, however.

I find it appalling that we have so much poverty, yet these billionaires continue to enrich and empower themselves without an iota of concern. Their only concern is making sure they are protected from the masses, should the masses wake up and knock down their doors.

Define poverty in America? Many who live in “poverty” in the US have large screen TVs, cell phones, rent paid for, healthcare paid for, food stamps. Where else can you get that? Where else in the world can one living in a level of poverty make a decision to stay on welfare because it pays more than working? The masses should think who funds that.
You are ignoring the problem and trying to blame the victim.

When 70% of Americans live pay-to-pay check, something isn’t working. We need a system that benefits all Americans not just the 1%. I don’t claim to have the answers and am not promoting a violence but if we continue as we are, I suspect violence is what we will get.
Most of those people living paycheck to paycheck do so because they spend too much money on shit.

I know. How dare those wealthy people steal all that money from the poor. As they get more wealth, the rest of us sink ever deeper into poverty:

Well, at least if you ignore every iota of data that exists out there.

Billionaires wealth is growing ever faster. Ironically, the level of world poverty is dropping at an increased rate as well. I guess the fleecing argument is bullshit.
Yes everything is peaches and cream.

You think this absurd concentration of wealth is acceptable. I don’t know how that is possible.

Just 8 men own same wealth as half the world

Eight men own the same wealth as the 3.6 billion people who make up the poorest half of humanity, according to a new report published by Oxfam today to mark the annual meeting of political and business leaders in Davos.

Oxfam’s report, ‘An economy for the 99 percent’, shows that the gap between rich and poor is far greater than had been feared. It details how big business and the super-rich are fuelling the inequality crisis by dodging taxes, driving down wages and using their power to influence politics. It calls for a fundamental change in the way we manage our economies so that they work for all people, and not just a fortunate few.

New and better data on the distribution of global wealth – particularly in India and China – indicates that the poorest half of the world has less wealth than had been previously thought. Had this new data been available last year, it would have shown that nine billionaires owned the same wealth as the poorest half of the planet, and not 62, as Oxfam calculated at the time.

Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of Oxfam International, said:

“It is obscene for so much wealth to be held in the hands of so few when 1 in 10 people survive on less than $2 a day. Inequality is trapping hundreds of millions in poverty; it is fracturing our societies and undermining democracy.

“Across the world, people are being left behind. Their wages are stagnating yet corporate bosses take home million dollar bonuses; their health and education services are cut while corporations and the super-rich dodge their taxes; their voices are ignored as governments sing to the tune of big business and a wealthy elite.”

Oxfam’s report shows how our broken economies are funnelling wealth to a rich elite at the expense of the poorest in society, the majority of whom are women. The richest are accumulating wealth at such an astonishing rate that the world could see its first trillionaire in just 25 years. To put this figure in perspective – you would need to spend $1 million every day for 2738 years to spend $1 trillion.

Public anger with inequality is already creating political shockwaves across the globe. Inequality has been cited as a significant factor in the election of Donald Trump in the US, the election of President Duterte in the Philippines, and Brexit in the UK.

Many believe Trump won because of the outrageous income inequality in the USA. I tend to think they are right. Hillary would have continued Obama’s diasterous policies, which made the rich richer and every else poorer.

Continue to ignore this huge problem. You may be fine with eight men having as much wealth as half the world. I am not. We have people around the world trying to live on $2 a day, while these rich bastards do all they can to further enrich and empower themselves. It’s obscene.

It depends on how they got the wealth. This is where your argument needs to be more specific. I can't get behind an agenda that claims that merely having too much wealth is a crime. If the wealth is accrued through voluntary transactions, via people simply paying for the things they want and need, then any resulting income disparity is the will of the people, and should be honored as such.

If, on the other hand, wealth is the result of theft or fraud, or if it was amassed as a result of sweetheart deals with government - then yes, it is wrong and something should be done. I believe there are many, many examples of this that we can address. And if liberals focused on those cases, instead of promoting the general idea that it's wrong for someone to have "too much" money, they'd find real consensus with libertarians and (some) conservatives - enough to get real momentum for rooting out the corruption.

LOL.

Great job scumbag GOP and silly dupes like you...

Stop lying. We pay higher percentage in Fed, State, and Local Income taxes the more we make. That's why you have to look up your tax rate by BRACKET. Typical dishonest Lib.
Google the only tax graph you need to know, dumbass doup. Count all taxes and we do not have a progressive system.

And if liberals focused on those cases, instead of promoting the general idea that it's wrong for someone to have "too much" money, they'd find real consensus with libertarians and (some) conservatives - enough to get real momentum for rooting out the corruption.
That is not the argument. I don’t care how they attained their wealth, though I think one can make a solid argument that all of them attained their massive wealth fraudulently. I base this on the fact that our central government is for sale, has been for decades, to the highest bidder. They all use government as a protection racket the Mafia can only dream of.

We don’t have free market capitalism with the huge transnational corporations. We have a Fascist system of cronyism. This is how the billionaires become billionaires.

The point is when we have millions if not a billion humans on the planet living in squalor, while a tiny select few humans live in unprecedented luxury, it is immoral.

This makes no sense to me. You (correctly, I think) identify the problem: our government is for sale. And that is the problem we should resolve. Harassing the buyers, or raising their taxes, or whatever scheme one might cook up to redistribute income, only gives government more power, more "services" to sell to wealthy interests.

Stop lying. We pay higher percentage in Fed, State, and Local Income taxes the more we make. That's why you have to look up your tax rate by BRACKET. Typical dishonest Lib.
Google the only tax graph you need to know, dumbass doup. Count all taxes and we do not have a progressive system.

Dumbass doup? Wow, now I know you are obviously losing the argument, and have nothing credible because you have to resort to personal attacks. Our Income tax system is certainly progressive. Some other taxes like Gasoline taxes (Fed and State) are regressive, but you Far Left Democrats pushed for those too.

define wealth.
Well...

Just 8 men own same wealth as half the world
Published:

Still no definition?

Wealth is net worth that's all it ever was and all it ever will be

In my experience no one ever stopped me from saving money or IOW increasing my net worth and therefore my wealth
It’s not about you. Look around. Wake up.

No one ever stopped anyone from spending less and saving more

If no one ever stopped me no one ever stopped you or anyone else

It's not a problem at all.

Who has ever stopped you from increasing your net worth?
