This is beyond the "cyclical" drought that is typical in California. I don't think it's fair to give people the impression that this is normal. It's certainly not. While California does experience cyclical droughts..this is unfortunately much more complicated than that.

I don't think many people realize that trees create rain... that is, they absorb water and then re-release it. So the death of these trees will likely reduce the amount of rain near them and downwind from them. So basically the worst possible situation imaginable.

Liberals should be forced to ooen the delta. The entire state is held hostage to the delta smelt.

Maybe if they didn't waste millions of gallons by dumping it in the ocean, they could save the trees. Liberal policies at work.

So what the government do now? Has someone started watering forests?
Btw, veggies swear that meat industry makes effect too. About 2,000 gallons of water needed to produce 1 pound of beef.

If a riot is needed anywhere its CA before their govt destroys the entire state.......

Check the drought footage from the depression. Multi state in size and it was NOT global warming.
Well, DarknFurry, looks like you made the connection yourself, since the OP did not mention Global Warming. Since we started changing the climate on this planet as soon as we started cutting forests to make farmland, and accelerated that change many orders of magnitude with the start of the industrial revolution, and the burning of fossil fuels, the drought of the '30s could well have been worsened by global warming of that period.

Well, if anybody had a lick of sense, they'd turn the logging companies loose to cut down every dead tree in the West - and anywhere else.

Reduce fuel for fires and increase the amount of lumber available for use here and around the world.

And, when it does rain again - which it will - the cleared area will be perfect for lots of new growth.

Are you kidding? California couldn't even cut down dead trees killed by the bark beetle. Cutting the trees destroyed the beetle's natural habitat.
