"I always did better when Independents could cross over, or frankly when Democrats could cross over."

Just now on MTP.

Trump's real base is non conservatives.

But, But, BUTT ( Yes I know about the extra T ), he's so conservative and everyone else has to be fake Conservative according to some of his voters...

Trump is even telling his own voters he is not Conservative at all. yeah he will give a few Conservative ideas to lure the gullible in but his stances have never been Conservative all the time.

Hell Hillary Clinton can act more Conservative than Trump, and that is very sad for the GOP.

Then again the Republican party was not founded by Conservatives and was actually founded by Progressive Liberals of that time and even today Lincoln, Grant, Roosevelt, Ike, and Nixon would not be consider Conservative.

One thing that should be reminded the last true Fisacl Conservative President of this fine nation was Andrew Jackson, and he was a Southern Democrat, and no true Conservative has ever won on the Republican ticket.

The last one to win the Presidential Nomination was Goldwater, and Trump is no Goldwater...

Does anyone even know what a 'Real Conservative' is anymore? If 'Real Conservative' means being a religious psycho or hateful old white Republican dude forcing your 'morals' on others, you can go ahead and count me out. In my life experiences, i've found those folks to be the most heinous of perverts and criminals. Trump's human. He's made some mistakes. But so have most Americans.

That isn't what those words mean. Why do your twist everything into such obvious lies? What do you feel that gains you? No one thinks Donald is a hard core right winger, that isn't what got him there. He's more of a populist than an ideologue. Getting in dems and indies is the path to victory.

Who knows what a conservative is at this point. Who knows what a Republican is at this point.

The party is eating itself, and I guess whoever survives intact will be the one who establishes those definitions.
.
...meanwhile it's hard to tell a democrat from a socialist. LOL.

Please don't project your shortcomings onto others. Conservatives want smaller more efficient governments, on all levels. A strong military for defense. Strong borders. Fiscal responsibility. Those concepts are too much for you, we get it. But spouting off your ignorance here does nothing for you.

So then, I have a reasonable question-----------> If Hillary is just as conservative as Trump, and if the best Trump can do is negotiate against himself in public on the policies he has put forth in his own tax plan and the debate, moving further left, aren't we really having a choice in the general between 2 liberals? Why would ANY Republican leaning right even mildly, vote for either of them? Is the Trump supporter mantra now gone from "he is the best," to "well he is better than Hillary?"

If that last statement is so, then what Trump supporters have admitted, is they were BAMBOOZLED! Lets face it, no Trump supporter DARE publicly claim what Trump is for, meaning we should vote for him, because he flip-flops so fast, standing with him today on the issues he is for, may mean you must stand against him tomorrow because he changed positions.

Well, maybe you'll be the one who gets to establish the definitions.

Meanwhile, it sure is a hoot to watch.

We are going to be bored to death with Media Matters (we monitor conservative speech) snippets about Trump from now until November but I doubt if he ever said "real conservatives hate him".

Conservative voters believed conservative politicians to the point where conservatives were given power in 2012 and more in 2014. The conservative politicians caved into everything liberals wanted.

This election is not about conservatives. It's about the furious, the enraged, the seriously pissed off and everyone else, conservatives included

Yeah, the term 'Conservative' means nothing at this point. Even most Republicans can't coherently define it. Most Republicans i observe calling themselves 'Conservatives', are usually confused old white dudes trying to force their ideas of morals on everyone else. And on so many issues, they aren't consistent at all.

Most that are voting for Trump is because of his soundbites and wanting to build the wall.

Trump claim he want to make America great again?

Then list what he has done in the private sector to help make America great again because as far as I can tell it has been very little.

Trump is a charlatan and a joke but let the people decide and suffer with the buyers remorse after this general election is done!

You sure about all that?

The Clintons are far worse. I won't support the corrupt witch and her serial rapist husband.

Populist Movements usually have a different and mixed base that sometimes defies conventional labels.

Within a Democratic Party framework, we see a part of the 2016 Populist Movement (Bernie Sanders) that draws almost exclusively from the Left.

Within a Republican Party framework, we see a part of the 2016 Populist Movement (Donald Trump) that began life drawing from the Right, but which is now pulling strongly from the Center as well, and, once the Sanders folk have been beaten-down and disheartened, seems likely to even draw some substantial number of Sour Grapes from the Left, as well.

Populism knows very few boundaries; especially when part of the Movement gets smacked down, and another part of the Movement survives extant into the General Election.

The so-called Trump Phenomenon is NOT about Conservatism... it never WAS.

The Trump Movement is about shoving the Old Guard aside and seizing control of a major political party on behalf of The People.

It's just that the Republican Party was weakest at the onset of this season's Populist Movement and most ripe for a take-over.

Besides, the Corporatists had bought the GOP decades ago; it just took America that long to figure it out.

The Corporatists own most of the Democrats, as well; it's just that that happened more recently, and the Sheep haven't figured that out yet.

The Republican Party is on the verge of once again becoming the Party of the Common Man - returning to its roots as the Grand Old Party in a true sense.

Whatever it takes, to shove the Old Guard out of the way, now, I guess.

Jonathan Swift said "when a true genius appears on the horizon, all the douchebags and phonies will be in league against him". Is Trump this true genius? Not sure, but lots of "conservatives" are looking to take up arms with hillary against him. Looks like Trump is threatening the good ole boys' gravy train.
