Britain withdrew from world leadership and it faded. The same thing will happen to the US if it continues on it's current course. When a superpower such as the US declines from world leadership, it's influence in the world declines. History shows that when a superpower declines, rival nations challenge it for global supremacy. The end result is almost always war.I really do not like being a pessimist...perhaps someone can put forth a persuasive argument regarding how America will get back on track and become once again a great nation?
The United States can not continue to withdrawal into it's borders, building walls real and figurative around itself, withdrawing from multinational agreements such as the Iran Nuclear Arms Treaty, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and ceding leadership in the UN, NATO, and Paris Accords to other nations. This trend almost guarantees that China will be the unchallenged economic leader in the world claiming the fastest growing economics in the TTP region and Africa. Russia will eventually assume military superiority as it spreads it's influence throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Africa filling the void left by the US.
