I expect very little from Obama on any issue. He's already packing his bags for 20 days in Hawaii when there are pressing issues.

If Obama cared about "how things look" he would be willing to forego a vacation...but we know where he'll be now don't we?

as politically appealing as appointing John Kerry as Secretary of Defense would be it loses its luster considering Brown would likely be returned to the Senate - Panetta should stay for at least another year.
