Disband the air force!!!!11!!

Ummmm, yea, it is.

No, it's not.

The Army is. The Navy is. The Militias are. The Coast Guard and the Air Force are not.

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;
To provide and maintain a Navy;
To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;
To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;
It's defending the country

Not constitutionally. You want an air force, change the constitution.

Or are you now proposing a 'living constitution' like some kind of liberocommieprogressive?

the air force was originally part of the army.....;) Truman rightfully split them off....

The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the American uniformed services. Initially part of the United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947 under the National Security Act of 1947.[1] It is the most recent branch of the U.S. military to be formed. The USAF articulates its core functions in its 2010 Posture Statement as Nuclear Deterrence Operations, Special Operations, Air Superiority, Global Integrated ISR, Space Superiority, Command and Control, Cyberspace Superiority, Personnel Recovery, Global Precision Attack, Building Partnerships, Rapid Global Mobility and Agile Combat Support.[4]

The government needs to get a handle on the specific missions of the Military branches. We have Navy Seals which evolved from UDT (frogman) now expanded to Recon and patrols in the Afghan mountains. Why do we need Seals in the mountains? Aren't there enough Recon specialists in the Marines or Special Forces? I think the Air Force has camo clad ground troops also. Get back to basics.

Show me where the Air Force appears in the Constitution

The same folks that think it's unconstitutional to create the Air Force under the defense clause of the Constitution think the second amendment allows the Gov to confiscate all firearms. F'n fools!

The Air Force started as a branch of the Army. That's why it was called The USAAF, the U.S. Army Air Force. Before that, the U.S. Army Aircorps. Dates back to WWI in fact. My grandfather flew for the USAAF in WWII (B-24's) then the USAF after the war.

The DOD Act of 1947 changed the name to U.S. Air Force. In fact the AF song is an adaptation of the Army Air Corps song.

Instead of "Nothing can stop the Army Air Corps!"

It was changed to:

"Nothing can stop the U.S. Air Force!"

No Constitutional change was ever needed. It still does and always will fall under "Provide for the common defense." So does the Space Command for that matter. (You didn't know that even existed did ya'?) :lol:

Here's an idea. Why not let those who are doing the job decide what is best. Armchair quarterbacks serve no purpose.

I think I said that? :)

I get it:

Guns and killing people = good
Ending slavery = bad
bombs = good
a mother being able to feed her baby = bad
makes perfect sense!
Gottta love conservatism
Do you understand the difference between the words "Promote" and Provide"?

The Military is "providing" for the common defense.
Child Labor Laws are "promoting" the general welfare.

IT'S NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION! THAT MAKES IT TYRANNY!

GET YOUR GUNS, TEABAGGERS! SET YOUR SURVEYORS' MARKS ON THE AIR FORCE AND END THIS ABUSE!!

until they amend the constitution, the Air Force is unconstitutional

Ha. Ive heard of this arguement before. No need to disband it. Just change its name BACK to the Army Air Corps. Problem solved! And yet the giant hole in your arguement remains!
Not to mention the congress has the power to create whichever departments or agencies it deems neccessary and propper to provide for the common defence by law.

So... defense means they can make up new military forces but Article 1 Section 8 means they can't provide for the general prosperity of the nation and its people by ensuring a wage above that of the old sharecroppers and preventing 8-year-olds from being sent into the mines?
in what way does paying SOME few people minimum wage provide for the GENERAL welfare of the UNITED STATES?

Because noone (so, General...not some) is below a minimum standard, it's pretty simple.
Oh really? What of those without jobs because the demand for labor has been decreased by its artificially high cost, are they not below that minmum standard?

Wrong, tovarich:
To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;

"Needful buildings" as in aircraft hangars (and, by extension, aircraft), even though the airplane hadn't been invented yet.

There's no standard for non wage-earners, except for Unemployment.

So if Obama creates an 'OBAMA CORPS' stong enough to rival the military and to operate outside the existing chain of command- as Beck insists he will do- that's fine so long as its core is a split from the Army?
