Did Israel Just Lose the Battle for Damascus?

georgephillip, et al,

You don't even want to discuss this scenario. It is just too ugly to contemplate.

The question is, what would happen if the U.S stopped giving money to the Palestinians ?
Here's an even better question; what would happen if the US stopped giving money to Israel?
(THOUGHT EXPERIMENT)

Israel, without a mutual defense pact agreement, with no assurances of long-term peaceful coexistence with it neighbors, and with an IDF as small as it is. If ruin was contemplated as an inevitable result! No alternatives.

It would have to make a decision before its resources were exhaust and the Arab enemies could mobilize.

(COMMENT-OPINION-HYPOTHETICAL)

Given that it (total defunding) would happen today, expect a early Fall-Winter Offensive with Israel in a total destruction mode.

  • It would have to push every Palestinians, in the Gaza Strip south and east towards Egypt. It would be the biggest refugee column the world has ever seen. And everything behind them would be burnt to the ground. Nothing would be left except as was needed for IDF Operations.

  • It would have to push all the Palestinians, in the West Bank east and southeast. Nothing would be left behind them. Total destruction.

  • All military airfields would be targeted. To draw away the ADA and combat air, the Israelis would first target key locations in Egypt (the Pyramids), in Saudi Arabia (holy Sites in Mecca and Medina), Damascus and Amman would be firebombed and burnt to the ground.

  • Then every key economic critical site would come under attack. All the desalinization plants in the Middle East, all oil fields, all gas field and the infrastructure with it (terminals, harbors, platforms, etc).

  • Every means of communication would be under siege and destroyed.

  • The Straits of Hormus and the Suez Canal would be riddled with sunken ships.

If Israel believes that it will fall under the hand of the Arab, it will be like tangling with a wild cat that is cornered. If they are put in a position in which they believe they are going to fall anyway, it will be an all out, maximum effort to burn the entire Middle East and everything thing of significants down with them.

It will be ugly and demonic; literally all hell will break loose. No body will want the Middle East, it will be totally uninhabitable. And you know what -- there will be no truce to be called. Because the behavior pattern established by the Arab is such that even the Arab's don't believe it. Once it starts, it will be the express elevator to hell.

And then after it is all over, the diseases will start to materialize.

Nuclear, Chemical and Biological

Remember, It will be an all out affair, every tool in the tool box. They will preposition strike teams in every Middle East Capitol and unleash whatever they have. Cholera, smallpox, ebola, and the release of orthomyxoviruses, in the refugee columns, airports and train stations. All the Middle East nations will be stacking bodies for incineration - it will be medieval in every single capitol; of what is left of them.

You simple don't want to contemplate a scenario that gives Israel a no option out. No enemy will be immune.

But, on the other hand, whatever Palestinians survive after the NBC release, they get the right of return to a land with every aquifer poisoned.

Most Respectfully,
R

"The Embassy of the United States in Baghdad is the diplomatic mission of the United States in Iraq and is home to the Ambassador to Iraq. Ambassador Robert S. Beecroft is currently the Chief of Mission.

"At 440,000 square meters, it is the largest and most expensive embassy in the world and is nearly as large as Vatican City.[1] It employs 15,000 people and cost $750 million to build. The Embassy opened in January 2009 following a series of construction delays. It replaced the previous embassy, which opened July 1, 2004 in Baghdad's Green Zone in a former Palace of Saddam Hussein.[2]"

Mr George Phillip would get a good idea of the devastation caused by nuclear weapons if he understood how long radiation lingered around a target area. I was always fascinated by CBR/CBN and went to 3 schools and had additional duties as CBN NCO in my units for about 14 years. Just to know that the half-life of radioactive material such as Carbon 14 is about 5730 years gives me the willies. Imagine what the Middle East and the Arab nations would be like after a nuclear holocaust.

I wonder if Hossie can spell... NUCLEAR FUCKING WINTER:"A regional exchange of relatively small nuclear weapons could plunge the world into a decade-long 'nuclear winter', destroying agriculture and killing millions, according to a new study.

"Weapons experts to consider that small-scale nuclear exchanges are now more likely than the massive US-Soviet exchanges feared during the Cold War.

"In the 1980s, scientists calculated that such exchanges would put enough smoke into the atmosphere to shade the Earth from the Sun, causing a nuclear winter..."

Can Hossie imagine the price of food in North Cackalacky after suicidal Jews unleashed Carbon 14 over Jerusalem?

Rocco...does any of the following sound truthful to you?

"Obama’s dream of having a post-Assad Syria is further complicated by the fact that Assad is apparently more popular than he has ever been.(6/13/'13)

"Many Syrians that didn’t previously support Assad now do, having concluded that Assad in power is better than their country being obliterated in an Iraq-style invasion, or being dominated by Islamic extremists, as the the majority of the Syrian rebel groups are.

"Further helping Assad’s popularity is that Israel has bombed Syria recently on multiple occasions, while Syrians watch the unpopular United States funnels massive amounts of weapons to the rebels.

"As a result, Assad can now successfully portray himself as a defender of Syria’s sovereignty against foreign aggression."

It's an opinion.

"Obama’s dream of having a post-Assad Syria is further complicated by the fact that Assad is apparently more popular than he has ever been.(6/13/'13)
(COMMENT)

The White House doesn't have a dream on the matter the Syrian people and their choice of government. We care, on to the extent it endangers US interests. The disturbance in the force in the region have multiple impacts.

President Assad does have some significant internal domestic support. That only makes the intervention by the US even more questionable. We don't want to get involved if the outcome is merely going to create another headache for America.

The domestic support for Assad, in comparison to, the domestic support for President Obama, makes no difference. The ground situation the stimulates support for President Assad, is not actually an accurate indicator of the appreciation for the Assad Regime. It is coupled with the fear that if the Regime falls, what comes next? It is the question of the lesser of two evils. And in Syria, there is a significant portion of the population that would rather deal with the devil they know; rather than the devil they don't know.

"Many Syrians that didn’t previously support Assad now do, having concluded that Assad in power is better than their country being obliterated in an Iraq-style invasion, or being dominated by Islamic extremists, as the the majority of the Syrian rebel groups are.
(COMMENT)

True. And many of the outside observers are contemplating the very same question. It is why the US is being very cautious.

However, it is very poor analysis that would suggest that the US, or a coalition, would invade Syria in the same way as Iraq. There is absolutely no reason to suggest that boots on the ground, in the footprint size of a conventional combat corps, is even in the realm of possibility. Many more tripwires would have to be triggered before that becomes a reasonable scenario.

Remember (Washington tends to forget this) that US intervention is seldom appreciated. If we have forgotten the lessons learned from Iraq (and the bite on the hand that liberated them), then we should have gotten the point from the recent incident in Libya. The US simply cannot trust the various Arab factions involved. Yes a few will be ethical and support our efforts, but there will be those that actively oppose US intervention, and some that will run away, in the face of internal opposition.

There is a strong US undercurrent that, while cheering for the Free Syrian Army Rebels, don't actually trust them enough to watch our back if we jump in to help. The domestic Libyan guards on the US facility attacked by terrorists in Benghazi, ran away without even warning the Americans. There will be such an element in Syria. The Arabs should not be trusted, and the US shouldn't operate as if they are.

(COMMENT)

The US isn't funneling weapons to Syrian Rebels. While many people repeat that claim, there is absolutely no truth to that. That has not been authorized. And no matter how hard you search, you will not find any picture or credible on-scene report that US weapons have been detected on the battlefield.

Every dictator uses that very same claim; I'm protecting sovereignty. But in this case, you don't actually see the Assad Regime making a claim, one way or the other (White Propaganda). It is because the weapons cache destroyed were tracked and the point of origin is well known and provable; both those from non-state weapons traffickers and those supplied by the Quds Force (IRCG-QF).

The claims against Israel are just that, an anti-Israeli propaganda effort as an extension of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict to further discredit Israel. You will notice that no one is making a similar claim against Hamas (a quasi-government) or Hezbollah for their intervention (opposite each other), which has put their boots on the ground.

This is low level propaganda for the undiscerning listener; or those that already have preconceived anti-Israeli notions. It is not a claim by the sovereignty to the International Community that knows better.

It's interesting how people who were always ready to contribute in a emergency seem to be so reluctant now. It looks like those who were previously generous don't know which side is right -- the rebels which include radical Muslims or the brutal regime of Assad. I think if the rebels were not joined by these radicals, more people would be backing them. Meranwhile, there are thousands and thousands of innocent Syrians who desperately need help.

Gee, Georgie Boy, why don;t you send them an E-mail and ask them about this if you are interested? While you are at it, why not send an E-mail to all the leaders in the world, especially those in the oil-rich Gulf states, and also put your hand in your own pocked and pull out a few bucks for these unfortunate people since we realize how much you actually care. As the viewers can see, Georgie Boy tries to pull in those whom he thinks have too much money instead of actually discussing why those who usually are so generous in giving to these relief efforts are holding back now. Meanwhile, Georgie Boy, I gave -- how about you sending in a few bucks? Here's a message from UNICEF which will tell you where to send your contribution. These children are counting on you, Georgie Boy, and I know you wouldn't let them down.

The children of Syria are facing their greatest hour of need.

They have been killed, maimed and orphaned. Now, those still alive are struggling to survive – without the most basic necessities and with deadly diseases like diarrhea on the rise.

In fact, just in the past few months, humanitarian needs have doubled. Making the situation even worse, UNICEF is running out of funds – funds that will mean the difference between life and death for many of Syria's children.

These children need help, and they need it now.

So for this 1 day only – the U.S. Fund for UNICEF is launching a 24-hour EMERGENCY campaign to turn the tide.

If there were ever one day to give – it's TODAY. The children of Syria desperately need you.

100% of your gift is tax-deductible. Every single dollar you donate will go toward UNICEF's relief efforts in Syria and refugee camps in surrounding countries.

An entire generation of children is at risk. They are living in tents made of burlap and plastic. There is no running water. There are no toilets. Lice and fleas infest their small, sick, malnourished bodies.

The mental and emotional trauma these children have endured is exacting a terrible and long-term price. This kind of stress during a child's early years can permanently stunt his or her development.

Here's how you can help, right now: https://secure.unicefusa.org/site/D...ign=usf&JServSessionIdr004=u97c3fhnb2.app228b

$78 can provide one sick child with essential immunizations, nutrients and clean water tablets for 6 months
$94 can send an emergency school kit packed with 60 notebooks and pencils, 6 soccer balls and 10 storybooks to help emotionally traumatized children gain a reprieve from the madness around them
$137 can buy an emergency clean water kit with buckets, water purification tablets and soap – enough to provide 10 families with basic clean water and sanitation supplies
$200 can expedite air shipping for relief supplies, so we can get food, medicine and water to the most vulnerable children as quickly as possible
For 1 DAY only – DONATE. Let this one day become a turning point for Syria's children.

Syria's children want to live. They want to grow up. We have seen them in camps in Lebanon. When we arrived, despite living through months and years of unimaginable misery, they greeted us with kisses and hugs. They asked if they can go to school soon.

Please don't let them die now. PLEASE GIVE – and help provide sorely needed supplies. Every single donation will go to support relief efforts in Syria.

With gratitude,

"WASHINGTON — Facing a growing humanitarian crisis, Oxfam, the international relief agency, set a goal in January of raising $53 million to aid victims of Syria's brutal civil war. So far, Americans have contributed $150,000.

Oxfam isn't alone. Mercy Corps has collected $900,000 for Syrian refugees during the 27 months of the war, a fraction of the $2.5 million raised in a few weeks in 2006 during the one-month war between Israel and the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon."

Does anyone know why Halliburton or Boeing isn't donating to the humanitarian crises in Syria?

"Refugees from Iraq have increased in number since the US-led invasion into Iraq in March 2003. An estimated 1.6-2.0 million people have fled the country. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees estimated in a report released in November 2006 that more than 1.6 million Iraqis had left Iraq since March 2003, nearly 7 percent of the total population.

"The BBC on 22 January 2007 placed the refugee figure at 2 million. By 16 February 2007, António Guterres, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, said that the external refugee number reached 2 million and that within Iraq there are an estimated 1.7 million internally displaced people.

"The refugee traffic out of the country has increased since the intensification of civil war.[4][5]

As of June 21, 2007, the UNHCR estimated that over 4.2 million Iraqis have been displaced, with 2 million within the Iraq and 2.2 million in neighboring countries.[6]

Most ventured to Jordan and Syria, creating demographic shifts that have worried both governments. A fear persisted in both countries, and others hosting sizable Iraqi refugee populations, that sectarian tensions would spill over amongst the exiles.

"These refugees were estimated to have been leaving Iraq at a rate of 3000-per-day by December 2006.

As many as 110,000 Iraqis could be targeted as collaborators because of their work for coalition forces.[7] A May 25, 2007 article notes that in the past seven months only 69 people from Iraq have been granted refugee status in the United States..."

Even by you usual low standards, Hossie, those crocodile tears you shed on behalf of Syria's victims of western imperialism reek of hypocrisy.

BTW, Hypocrite, I spent 5 hours of my time volunteering yesterday at my local senior center, 25-30 hours for the entire week. What did you do for your community last week? How much money or time did you donate to Iraqi refugees or to the millions of Vietnamese civilians you helped to maim, murder, and displace? Twice.

You should be ashamed to call yourself an American. I mean, it's one thing to disagree with certain American policies, but you sir, are a traitor.

"Expanding into another territory, occupying that territory, and dealing harshly with people who resist occupation has been a persistent fact of American history from the first settlements to the present day.

"And this was often accompanied from very early on with a particular form of American exceptionalism: the idea that American expansion is divinely ordained.

"On the eve of the war with Mexico in the middle of the 19th century, just after the United States annexed Texas, the editor and writer John O’Sullivan coined the famous phrase 'manifest destiny.'

"He said it was 'the fulfillment of our manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions.'

"At the beginning of the 20th century, when the United States invaded the Philippines, President McKinley said that the decision to take the Philippines came to him one night when he got down on his knees and prayed, and God told him to take the Philippines."
