Democrats on the brink of suicide

Without progressivism (!!), you'd still have slaves, your flintlock muskets and the life expectancy of some third world shit hole..

You're confusing "progress" with "progressivism." Progressivism didnt exist until the end of the 19th century.
Actually capitalism achieved all those things.

Capitalism ended slavery. There's a new one.

I fully support the Democrats and Reconciliation. This will only help the Republicans at some point. The Dems will lose in numerous landslides this year and the Republicans will later use this same tactic when they regain power. This Dem-led Congress is by far the worst U.S. Congress in history and have been reduced to lame-duck status for some time. So I say,go for reconciliation Dems. Just another nail in your coffin. Make 2010 count people.

So you support reconciliation for purely partisan reasons, not taking into consideration that this sordid legislation will then become law and massacre our health care system for everyone.

Nice.... :eusa_naughty:

Right. I can't see anything good coming out of the passage of that bill. The mere fact that the democrats are willing to announce or threaten using reconciliation is enough for people to see that they'll go to great lengths to push legislation that a lot of people don't want.

It's also a little scary to clamor so hard for the republicans to get back in office either. Last time they had control, they didn't do a great job or anything. Still, they definitely appear to be the lesser of two evils right now. As an aside, it's pathetic that we need to speak about our political parties in terms of "the lesser of two evils."

See... that's EXACTLY what I'm talking about.... this arrogant, elitist attitude which assumes that average Americans are incapable of thinking for themselves.

I think the average Conservative isn't capable of thinking for themselves. Check out the plethora of threads on this very board quoting Conservative mouth pieces...They just go on and on and on.

In saying that there are quite a few above average cons on this board who do think for themselves...

You're mistaking not thinking like a liberal for not thinking for themselves, I think.

I think most Americans are capable of thinking for themselves. Hence the problems at the town hall meetings.... and the TEA parties.... That's Americans thinking for themselves. You may not like the way they think, but they are most certainly thinking.... and they are deciding what they are going to do about the virus that is US politics.

Progressivism makes economic slaves? You're not serious.

In less than 10-years time, the interest alone on our national debt will be 900 BILLION dollars per year. That's like a Porkulus bill every year, to be paid out-of-pocket. So why don't you enlighten the class as to how our children and grandchildren are going to come up with that kind of dough.

Progressives have stuck my children's heads in the yoke, before they've even started earning and without their consent. This is taxation without representation. These kids are getting the bill, but they've had no say as to whether they're willing to pay it.

My cousin just got a job as a recruiter out of college a couple months back. He basically needs to find people to fill mostly manual labor/skill positions, like welding, carpentry, etc. He said he's got a bunch of positions being offered but he can't fill them because the people that have the skills to fill them would rather collect unemployment, which is based on their previous job's pay, than what they would make taking another job.

He said he'll also have people come in and interview only to interview, and they'll tell him flat out that they don't want a job; they just need him to sign a paper so he can prove to the unemployment office that he's "looking for a job."

Entitlements creates dependency and complacency. Obama has already said that he wants to extend unemployment benefits. This is pretty scary to me.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^Very relevant response.

This is a problem with liberalism; Complacency and laziness, ultimately, lack of innovation and economic stagnation.

The problem with capitalism; Wealth disparity, aristocracy, exploitation of poor, and ultimately, class revolution.

Hence the balancing act continues, 200-some-odd years later.

Is that your answer to 900 Billion in annual interest debt? Seriously? Is that what our kids are going to say to our creditors when they want paid?... "Dopey response"? :eusa_eh:

I dunno. I kind of think they're gonna want cash. But maybe that's just me.

It's dopey because it reeks of a low-information political malcontent. You think "Progressives" are responsible for the national debt? It's skyrocketed since Reagan, the big conservative. Old man bush continued this trend. Bill Clinton, the progressive, balanced the budget and left a surplus. Then Bush Jr. was the first president to cross 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 trillion.

So show me where anyone labelled "Progressive" caused this problem, and I'm happy to continue discussing...

Not sure how "progressive" I'd consider Clinton, especially since he signed a repeal of Glass-Steagal into law. Nevertheless, he did get us to a surplus...

Touche', not only signed it but campaigned for it, aggressively in fact. He was actually a quite moderate democrat, just as Obama is IMHO.

Obama to spell out new healthcare plan - Yahoo! News

The assholes are going to go for reconcilliation, and end the viabilty of their party for good.

The American people soldily rejected their 'plan' but they will try to force it down our throats anyway.

Of course, it will be repealed the same way they passed in december, the fools.

I don't think they'll be finished for good... but if they pass any version of this pile of pigshit, it's gonna be a long-ass time until they're politically relevant again. Evan Baye didn't jump ship for no reason. He's got presidential aspirations. I'm thinking he sees the death of "progressivism" on the horizon and is getting the hell out of Dodge until the party swings back toward center. ...snip...

This current lot of idiots are destroying themselves for nothing. But the good news for America, is that they'll be taking Progressivism with them when they go.

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

Woodrow Wilson gave us the "progressive tax system". It's about 60,000 pages now on estimate, and doesn't get our bills paid.

One of the reasons it doesn't, is FDR's gift of Social Security entitlements. Not to mention, Johnson's gift of Medicare. Bill Clinton gave us our current lending crisis. Now, of course he had help from both sides of the aisle, but it was he who loosened our lending standards on mortgages. And... since you mentioned G.W., just what do you think "compassionate conservatism" really is? :eusa_eh:

That's just a start. It doesn't include all the peons in Congress that make all this "progressive" spending possible.

Progressives are nothing more than Modern Fascists. Bill Clinton's "Third Way" is essentially the same as Benito Mussolini's "Third Way"... a marriage of socialism and capitalism whereby government is in control, the brain to industry's body.

Bill Clinton and G.W. Bush are just a pair of little fish compared to Barack Obama though, huh?
Uncle Barry's taken control of financial institutions, a couple of car companies, student loans, and now he's working on getting our healthcare system under his thumb... all that while out-spending Bush something
like 4 to 1.

Hell, I'd be impressed.... if I were a fascist.

p.s. I noticed that once again you failed to answer my question. Maybe you don't have any kids and maybe you don't give a crap about how the next generation is going to pay 900 Billion in debt annually.... but if you're gung ho to spend their future, it's just polite to cough up an idea or two.

Calling Obama a fascist. Now that's original!:clap2:

You are quite fringy in your beliefs. Didn't I see you in the birther thread?

No matter who was elected, they would be running a huge deficit right now. OK? No matter who. Any economist could have told you, with the condition of the economy a year ago, a balanced budget is not in our near foreseeable future. We're just starting to clean up the mess 30 years of Reaganomics has left us.

p.s. I noticed that once again you failed to answer my question. Maybe you don't have any kids and maybe you don't give a crap about how the next generation is going to pay 900 Billion in debt annually.... but if you're gung ho to spend their future, it's just polite to cough up an idea or two.

It's an empty question. <Shrug> I dunno. You could start by freezing the Pentagon, the largest line item in the budget by far, yet always overlooked by righties who all the sudden are concerned about deficit spending now that a democrat is in office. Other than that, there is not nearly as much discretionary spending as you think there is. We can't do much else than try to fix the problem for the time being.

I actually find it a hopeful sign that you libbies persist in accusing average Americans to be "fringey". It means you'll continue to alienate voters with your foul rhetoric and platform... and we'll be rid of you all the sooner. :eusa_angel:

Oh... and running a deficit isn't the same as quadrupling a deficit. Just so ya know.

p.s. I noticed that once again you failed to answer my question. Maybe you don't have any kids and maybe you don't give a crap about how the next generation is going to pay 900 Billion in debt annually.... but if you're gung ho to spend their future, it's just polite to cough up an idea or two.

The question is only "empty" if you're a looter, thieving from the next two generations. For these kids who are going to have to pay for this mess... it's plenty valid.

And the deficit problem is not as much about discretionary spending as it is about entitlement spending and wasteful spending. We could start by recalling Porkulus, (which is little more than a DNC slush fund), killing Obamacare, and actually doing something to fix Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid before they take us all to the poorhouse.

p.s. Go read up on Mussolini Fascism. You'll find that he was quite the hero to Progressives of the era, appearing to split the difference between government ownership of production and private enterprise. Thing is though... ALL collectivist ideologies end up pretty much the same way.... with the select few ruling over the tyrannized many.
Fascism started as just another way to get people to accept a socialist system, because Mussolini got kicked out of the party for his militancy. Fascism is an end-around. And so is Progressivism. There's no appreciable difference.

Look at the bigger picture, Taz. The conservatives can seize control of the House and Senate on the promise that they will repeal all laws passed by this Congress. If we can get a super majority, we'll override Obama's veto and replace him in 2012 just for shits and giggles.

The Liberal Democrats will be out of power for 40 years.
