I don't think they'll be finished for good... but if they pass any version of this pile of pigshit, it's gonna be a long-ass time until they're politically relevant again. Evan Baye didn't jump ship for no reason. He's got presidential aspirations. I'm thinking he sees the death of "progressivism" on the horizon and is getting the hell out of Dodge until the party swings back toward center.

It's going to be a bloodbath, politically speaking, for Socialist Dems in November. They think Obama's political capital can be reinvigorated with healthcare. They're betting the economy will improve on their timetable as the bulk of Porkulus dollars get spent. They mistakenly believe that "tea partiers" are a far-right fringe.

And they're wrong on all counts.

They don't know any real people. All they know are other egghead leftists like themselves, useful idiots, and sycophants. In their hearts, they believe 'We The People' stupid, that we can be BOUGHT if the price is right. They don't understand America's heartland or the integrity of her citizens.

I hope you're right, Xeno. I hope they'll be finished for good. But I think more likely is that what we'll see after November is a major swing to center with "Progressives" pitched over the side like so much ballast, Obama himself amongst them by 2012.

You're right that these people are committing political suicide. It's shocking to watch... and even though we shouldn't be surprised, somehow it's still surprising. They're throwing themselves on this grenade, believing that if they can save Obama, they can save themselves. But in Evan Baye's desertion, we see a prediction on the future course of the Democrat Party. Up-and-comers will be elbowing RINOs out of the way in their haste to prove their conservative bonafides, and they won't want a damn thing to do with Barack Obama.

My cousin just got a job as a recruiter out of college a couple months back. He basically needs to find people to fill mostly manual labor/skill positions, like welding, carpentry, etc. He said he's got a bunch of positions being offered but he can't fill them because the people that have the skills to fill them would rather collect unemployment, which is based on their previous job's pay, than what they would make taking another job.

He said he'll also have people come in and interview only to interview, and they'll tell him flat out that they don't want a job; they just need him to sign a paper so he can prove to the unemployment office that he's "looking for a job."

Entitlements creates dependency and complacency. Obama has already said that he wants to extend unemployment benefits. This is pretty scary to me.

I just wish that someone could come up with a plan that would help out a targeted group of individuals who really are in need of help, rather than over-hauling the entire system. You are right. I've seen it first hand. Whether it be a procedure the insurance company deems not needed ... or an entire hospital stay denied for lack of coverage or lack of clinical information.
