Cuts to SS and Medicare

Medicare is 1.45% for the employer and 1.45% for the employee, or 2.9% total.

why ,do the more you make, you get .9% of medicare, why isn't it 1.45% for the employee or total 2.9% total?
  • Single: $200,000
  • Married filing jointly: $250,000
  • Married filing separately: $125,000

What is this SS cap.2022=147,000
2023=160,200
Why is there a cap on SS?
SSDI is separate from S.S. and funded until 2065.

He wants to "pull it out by the roots" and kill it. He wants to "phase out" Social Security. Not reform it.

His words.
And joe biden wants to kill oil that this country needs to live on

Would you like to see him say it?

Of course if you do away with welfare, then more people would be working, thus putting money into the tax system. Those that dont want to work, dont get a dime, and when they get hungry and start stealing from others, should be shot on sight, thus eliminating them from other government programs like being put in prison and such. Empty the prisons of repeat offenders, by execution and you can start putting that money towards SS. Really easy to get the debt under control, just stop all the liberal compassion laws that end up killing people.
So what you are saying is we should just eliminate The U.S. Constitution and start over.

Biden signed more federal drilling permits than Trump or Obama.

Oil production increased by 30 percent in Biden's first year, but only 20 percent in Trump's first year.

Let's see what Mike Lee does to Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare.

Thanks to democrat shutdown of the economy oil was in a slump when biden took office

It should have been an even greater increase in production if he was not a sworn enemy of fossil fuel

Um...retard? It was Trump's shutdown.

It was also a GLOBAL shutdown. And that affected oil demand.

All caught up now?

It should have been an even greater increase in production if he was not a sworn enemy of fossil fuel
The oil companies, along with Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, slow-walked their increases in production.

And again, Biden signed more federal drilling permits than either Trump or Obama.

Nice try.

New Data: Biden’s First Year Drilling Permitting Stomps Trump’s By 34%

New federal data shows the Biden administration approved 3,557 permits for oil and gas drilling on public lands in its first year, far outpacing the Trump administration’s first-year total of 2,658.

Nearly 2,000 of the drilling permits were approved on public lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management’s New Mexico office, followed by 843 in Wyoming, 285 in Montana and North Dakota, and 191 in Utah. In California, the Biden administration approved 187 permits — more than twice the 71 drilling permits Trump approved in that state in his first year.

It is a simple fact that not raising the Social Security age to 70 is unsustainable.

We are living DECADES longer than our ancestors. We should be working longer.

Common fricking sense.

#1 No we're not. Yes live expectancy has increased. But when you look at the more important data point of "How many years are people drawing the benefit?". No where near "decades".

#2 Increases in average life expectancy, once improvements in infant mortality are excluded, show increased life expectancy. True. That means more people are reaching retirement age.

WW

Exactly. SS is easy to fix. Raise the cap, and add a year to the ages,
The SS fix is tougher.

My recommendation is to add a new Federal Sales Tax of about 4%. I don't see any other way to raise enough money.
Also, I want to see another "Grace Commission" to eliminate waste, and duplication in the Federal government.
Why raise the cap?
The top earners already pay twice as much for the same benefit.

As Table 1 indicates, the average life expectancy at age 65 (i.e., the number of years a person could be expected to receive unreduced Social Security retirement benefits) has increased a modest 5 years (on average) since 1940. So, for example, men attaining 65 in 1990 can expect to live for 15.3 years compared to 12.7 years for men attaining 65 back in 1940.

(Increases in life expectancy are a factor in the long-range financing of Social Security; but other factors, such as the sheer size of the "baby boom" generation, and the relative proportion of workers to beneficiaries, are larger determinants of Social Security's future financial condition.)
And S.S. tax increases have already taken the baby boomers into account.
