According to news reports, Chicago is an appalling place. I remember the days of the "Chicago Seven" too. So imagine my surprise when I read this shortly after the Orlando massacre...

The 10 States With the Worst Gun Violence

We haven't heard for Joe in awhile. He lives in Chicago.

I sure hope he is okay.

It would be most ironic and so tragic, if a handgun took out our beloved LWNJ anti-gunner Joe.

Socialist/Democrats who are running Chicago and this Country don't give a shit about this, because:

1) Blacks killing Blacks in a city run by Democrats for over half a century cannot be blamed on Republicans; and

2) In Chicago, The Dead vote reliably Democrat anyway.

many lefties say it aint so bad these days

Hmmm, what lefties is that? OT: got drought? I can hear my straw/grass begging for a drink. But after watching the horrific flooding in W.VA I'm cutting back on my prayers for fear of overdoing my pleas for rain. They need God's help more than I do.

Yo, libs. How many of these shooters were NRA members?

How many of these murders would have been stopped by more gun laws?

Your questions are rhetorical, and I suppose they make sense to you. But why not ask how many of these murders could have been stopped by more gun controls? Omar Mateen aside, instruments of murder in the hands of people who use them to settle grudges, real or imagined, is not a good idea. I have no idea how to proceed, mostly because to even talk about it is akin to blasphemy and unforgivable sin to those who will accept any disaster rather than activate their common sense.

Well you tell us. Chicago has the most strict gun laws in the country-------and the highest murder by gun rate.

What kind of additional gun laws would keep the thugs in Chicago from getting illegal guns and using them to kill their gang rivals?

What exactly are you saying would fix this problem?

Redfish, I wish I were Solomon, but I am not. However continuing as is doesn't make us any safer, nor do I believe would more guns or more lethal guns make us safer. But the key is that we cannot talk rationally to each other. I do resent the common myth that ALL guns are in danger of confiscation, but better control seems like a good idea. I'll bet the NRA could come up with some viable ideas (viable meaning something less than the John Lott syndrome of more guns). I hate military weapons available to civilians, yet most of the Chicago murders are not committed by that kind of weapon but rather the up close and personal kind. I am not in favor of banning them, but restrictions seems like a good idea. And hunting rifles are vital to people living in remote places where critter threaten. I also agree that existing crime law sentences are too lax when a gun is involved. Somewhere there is a happy medium but I can't see it. So meantime, I'll oppose our unrestricted access to assault weapons. Sorry!

Another lib mecca, just like Detroit.
that's right, but it's not all in chicago, but that's where i'm from, so that hits a home note for me.

it's apalling that the libs allow this situation to exist, all the while becoming militant over the global warming bullshit.

what if the were a natural disaster in chitown and the guard came in, would that help the murder rate.

we need to start using the national guard to stop this madness and the madness coming across our borders.

i'm pretty sure obamjevich will go back to community organising, instead of continuing to live the luxury life of a rock star, albeit a poser, nonetheless.

Assault weapons are already prohibited for average americans. you cannot buy an RPG, a bazooka, or a tank. you cannot buy an AK47 or an M16.

An AR 15 is not an assault weapon, it is not a machine gun, it fires one round each time you pull the trigger, just like a revolver or shotgun.

The problem is that the ignorance you display is causing this gun debate to go in the wrong way.

Radical muslims and gangbangers are responsible for the vast majority of gun murders in this country. So instead of attacking the guns how about attacking the criminals using them? Oh, I forgot, we can't hurt their feelings or make them feel unwanted.

The real problem here is liberal thinking.

Yup. The gun is the tool. The person using it is the weapon.
