This isn't looking good for us, especially since 460k govt. jobs have been "created" since 2020. Our private industries are leaving or insolvent.

Canada lost 40,000 jobs in August, 3rd monthly decline in a row

Canada's economy lost 40,000 jobs in August, enough to push up the jobless rate by half a percentage point, to 5.4 per cent, Statistics Canada reported Friday.

Economists had been expecting the economy to add between 10,000 and 15,000 jobs during the month, which would have been a reversal after two straight monthly declines in June and July.

Instead, August's numbers bring the three-month tally of losses to more than 100,000 since May.

The job losses were enough to push up the jobless rate for the first time in seven months. In June, Canada's unemployment rate fell to 4.9 per cent, its lowest level on record. It stayed flat in July, but has now jumped up by half a percentage point from that record low level.

As for the Government jobs, you Canadians lack the "grip" we Americans have on our public sector.

See, Congress is only allowed to spend money on seventeen different things that are laid out in Article i (Section 8) of our Constitution, so when they try to spend money on EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE, or SAVING THE [fucking] PLANET, we can tell them to "Back off!" They have no right to spend on those things.

Canada needs a Constitution so it can constrain the central government the way we do. Then they wouldn't be hiring more and more, lifetime-protected, hardly working, politically motivated government slugs.

Our govt employs many people. What's so bad about that? Typical stereotype.

The problem with government employment is this: It is used by politicians to feather their own nests. Once a department or agency is created, it never goes away, even if the mission becomes obsolete, or even harmful. Politicians praise government employment as though it produced something; it doesn't. It is a net drain on the economy, and should ONLY be used to further causes that are explicitly laid out in founding documents. Saving the planet, healthcare, education, feeding people and providing housing may all be worthy goals, but they are not things that Government should be providing, because Government HAS NO MONEY. All of the money it spends (or "invests," as Democrats like to say) comes out of the pockets of taxpayers, one way or another, sooner or later.
