Can you 'fess up to your party's warts, can you dare?

Republicans don't do things like this --

Wow you must be a real insider, how were you able to obtain the information that led to your discovery of this twitter account holder's political party affiliation?

Please listen carefully...

With your left hand, firmly grasp your right ear...

With your right hand firmly grasp your left ear....

Now give a sharp tug..

That popping sound you hear is the noise of your head exiting your ass.

I apologize, you truly are a brilliant comedian just as you said.

Seinfeld, Carlin, Dangerfield, and whatever your last name is, that'd be my Mount Rushmore of comedy.

I mean I don't know how I'm able to keep my hands steady enough to type this message with how hard I'm laughing.

Pub dupes! Dems big spenders? Right now just to clean up Pub catastrophic messes. Typical boom for insiders, bust for everyone else. Biggest a-holes and most misled voters in the modern world.

Another great post by Franco, when you have a debt and spending problem, you spend your way out of it.

The problem is no demand. 600k gov't jobs have disappeared, health care is a long term cost problem and has been addressed, and we're coming out of this Pub mess, no thanks to them (no compromise, "un-American" (TIME) disfunction). Check the UK for how Pub style austerity works.
Mega rich myopic Pubs and their silly dupes suq every time. Buck up, dear!:eusa_drool:

I'm glad Decepticon is here, I can't think of anyone who'd be more honest and down the middle about the 2 parties than him.

I can't count how many times he's been honest and will readily point out flaws in or mistakes made by the Democrat party.

Democrats, for the most try to be responsible, civil adults. Republicans cannot control themselves and burst out with "YOU LIE" during a State of the Union address.

But it is this devotion to politeness and civility that keeps them from going for the throat of the rethugs and accomplishing their agenda, unsullied by their republican counterparts.

If you want an idea of how POPULAR democrat ideas are, try to run on a platform of eliminating them. No EPA. No FDA. No Social Security. No Medicare.

How many votes would you get?

Now contrast that with the eliminating popular CON ideas? Oh wait...most Americans already want to reverse the Bush tax cuts for the rich. What about deregulation? Are lots of Americans calling for more deregulation after you deregulated the financial sector into the toidy? How about the 4 trillion dollar war in Iraq. That still popular?

I doubt anyone is 100% pleased with their party - Republican or Democratic. I doubt anyone is 100% pleased with the views of the side of their political spectrum, either - left or right.

Can you vocalize/post what the views or platforms of your party's/group's you find difficult to stomach and why? And, if so, why not switch sides? And, if not, what do you view of the other side that is worse? Just generalities - and it doesn't matter if they are reality, but it is more important that it is YOUR reality.

For me, I'm registered Republican. I can just barely stomach the religious right. I find them too authoritarian and am opposed to any legislation of morality. I can stomach them more because I believe the Constitution will prevail in protecting us all from theocracy.

The Democrats are OK, but I find they are too loose with money, too willing to fund entitlements when we have more than enough, and now, too many socialist tendencies. In two words: too nanny.

Looking back I do not see that the Republicans are very tight with money either.
The issue seems to be what the money is overspent on.

I do not feel that there is much difference in the partys now. Both are mostly under lobbyist control.

I think they both suck.

Ohh they say different things to get elected and then seem to all be the same once they get in office.

I am registered independent. I'm not a joiner, I guess.

I am a liberal though. And I find that the Democratic party agenda is decidedly more liberal.

Do I have problems with the Democratic party? Absolutely. But my outlining them will not be met with nods of approval from nutters. This is because the issues I have are related to the Democratic party leaders pandering to the nutter vote.........allowing need for campaign funds to influence their actions at the expense of doing what is right.

I'm a Libertarian and I am not 100% satisfied with my party, that said it's more inline with my beliefs, and the Constitution, and conservatism, than either of the other two parties so I'll have no trouble living with it's flaws.

Predfan as a fellow, self-identified but non-card carrying, libertarian what is it that the libertarian party/people are doing that you are dissatisfied with?

Life long Democrat.
-To willing to compromise. No poker faces whatsoever.
-Bluedogs often given lots of favors.
-Extremely hard time communicating messages. At times way to clever. Many never understand..yeah..sometimes the simple message is the best message.
-Far left progressives are often not realistic and as ideologically inflexible as the far right.
-Far to pandering to labor sometimes. Every once in awhile someone has to take a haircut.
-Often get in to battles about small details..which cripples the big picture.
-Like the man said, "Hard to herd cats". And Democrats make cats look organized.

As a fiscal/monetary/constitutional conservative, and a total social issue liberal (the least amount of govt. intrusion is the best) I am almost completely unrepresented by either party. There hasn't been a balanced budget, surplus or sane monetary policy in my entire lifetime. I've watched the constitution get pervertd by the hands of both parties time and time again. I've watched my liberties decrease and crumble at the hands of both sides of the aisle my entire lifetime.

Call me disenfranchised by the establishment.

Do you vote?

In other words, no, you cannot be objective about your party.

Color me shocked.

Criticisms I have of the left...

1. I think there is a bit of a tendancy to view foreign affairs through a hopeful prism that I find counterproductive. We don't have the time, money, or resources to go around and fix every problem in the world. I don't think the impulse these people have is wrong, just misguided. Large international organizations are often ineffective forms and we better results by focusing on bilateral and multilateral action. I don't consider this issue significant enough to move to the right because the same strain exists on the right in a slightly different form (neoconservatism is a right-wing varient of Wilsonian internationalism). Thankfully, these types have not had a large voice in the Obama adminstration.

2. I think there exists a tendency at times to overlook the impact of regulation. Raising taxes is unpopular, so instead we create hoops to force firms and individuals to jump though. This issue doesn't bring me to the right because the impulse behind creating these regulations is a good one, and I don't see the right as having a real answer to the social ills they are intended to address.

3. I have a philosophical objection to the payment structure in civil litigation (I think we should adopt loser pays). This issue is just so far down my priority list that I'm not going to move for it.

My party is a mess. There is nothing we like more than to tear each other apart. Because the nature of my party is based on principle, compromise is nearly impossible. We are hopelessly factionalized and repulse the general public because of it. Then there are the frauds, those who claim to be Libertarian but are either socialists or white nationalists and hold zero Libertarian ideals. Bill Maher claimed to be a libertarian - what a joke.

The Libertarian party has flaws that seem insurmountable, yet remains the only hope to restore this nation.

I would agree with you, but then I remember a few years back when there was a right-wing website that had wanted posters of abortionists, so I would have to disagree with you on your statement. We on the right do have our share of idiots and hate-mongers.

Immie

I think the problem the Libertarian Party has is that it can't tell the difference between being unprincipled and being flexible. It's an all-or-nothing ideology.

Yes, you have a very valid point.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad impulse. I have a lot more respect for people who are consistent in a position than those who advocate for something, then pull back when they realize taking it out to the logical conclusion is unpopular (I haven't interacted enough with you to know your position on abortion, but that's a pretty obvious one, as most pro-lifers are unwilling to say women who have abortions should be thrown in prison).

I don't know if I can do that to the country at this point in time. I did that with Ron Paul in 08. Not that I think the world hinges upon my one vote, but look who we got. I'm going for the republican nominee this time.
