From Spiegel International - a German online paper from a few months ago. Sad indeed...and embarrassing.

The US Republican race is dominated by ignorance, lies and scandals. The current crop of candidates have shown such a basic lack of knowledge that they make George W. Bush look like Einstein. The Grand Old Party is ruining the entire country's reputation.

Africa is a country. In Libya, the Taliban reigns. Muslims are terrorists; most immigrants are criminal; all Occupy protesters are dirty. And women who feel sexually harassed -- well, they shouldn't make such a big deal about it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the US Republicans. Or rather, to the twisted world of what they call their presidential campaigns. For months now, they've been traipsing around the country with their traveling circus, from one debate to the next, one scandal to another, putting themselves forward for what's still the most powerful job in the world.

As it turns out, there are no limits to how far they will stoop.

It's true that on the road to the White House all sorts of things can happen, and usually do. No campaign can avoid its share of slip-ups, blunders and embarrassments. Yet this time around, it's just not that funny anymore. In fact, it's utterly horrifying.

It's horrifying because these eight so-called, would-be candidates are eagerly ruining not only their own reputations and that of their party, the party of Lincoln lore. Worse: They're ruining the reputation of the United States.

Anyone who only attacks one side is inferior and should not be taken seriously. BTW, talk about vague about Ron Paul…

Not a surprising assessment of the left.

Remember when obama was going to restore respect. He's not faring any better, he's mocked and ridiculed everwhere.

Yes, in fact what gets me is Obama has only expanded some of the "worst" of the Bush era policies yet we almost never get to hear bout that. There has not been any repeal of the evil Republican or Bush era policies but once again we get to hear how bad Republicans would be in they were elected President but not how bad the President that is in office is.

There are many foreign papers online that have an English version. Check them out. They all pretty much say the same thing about the repub primaries. Yes, sad time in our history to be sure.

Hey, I'm not an Obama fan. He's made a relatively good moderate republican. Still, he gets tremendous respect throughout the world. So far, I've not seen him mocked and ridiculed, "everywhere." I'd like to so if you don't mind, could you direct me to some of those articles?

On CBS Sunday Morning, they were talking to random people in Europe who are completely in awe of the "socialist Europe" bashing. They were all perplexed as to where the Reps were getting their completely false information. Interesting:

Yea, let's be like German... where speech is free - as long as you don't disagree with the left.
