California Education Goes Full Retard

Why must you guys continue to bash California on a daily basis? What is in it for you?
Facts are facts, and if you think stating the facts is "bashing," well, whatever.

Why don't you instead ask why the people of California keep voting for the very radical leftist trash that's ruining their state? Don't you wonder that?

It's bashing, and I want to know why. You haven't answered my question.

Communist propaganda in the curriculum has become the norm. All textbooks are printed by Communists now. They have taken over the education system nationwide to varying degrees.

It needs to be taken back, probably by force.

Not a threat, merely an observation.
Local school boards pick the curriculum and books in CA...

It doesn't matter which books they pick when Communists write all of them.

I'm glad I kept all of my books.

I hope you all realize that "textbooks" are almost entirely a thing of the past now

But it seems you do not.
I hope you all realize that "textbooks" are almost entirely a thing of the past now

Yeah, we can see the fruits of it.

Professor: High Number of Students Today ‘Almost Illiterate’

Are you making the case that's actually due to schools not using outdated, very expensive textbooks?

That point very well could be made.

Well, you want to play games... go ahead... I'm done with a moron that calls facts, bashing.

Talk to yourself then.

You know what while we're at it. Why don't we go back to slates and chalk. I mean according to my fellow conservatives things were better in the 1800s too and that's the argument so...take it all the way back then.

You know what else is evil?

Whiteboards instead of chalkboards

Projectors instead of overheads with transparencies

Photocopies instead of ditto machines

Hey textbook lovers: I just looked online. ONE science textbook from McGraw-Hill: $95. An entire year-long subscription for an online textbook for the teacher to use with all of her, say, biology classes: $146.43

Now tell us how schools are wasteful, make bad choices and blah blah whatever. Or I know, you would have EACH kid carry a $100 textbook because, by god, that's what you did in 1965 so they can too.

Not at all triggered. I made an argument with information. You made an empty assertion based on the way things were when you were in school.

To be honest this is why conservatives are not too great with education

Seriously, how much do core science principles change in 4-6 years? 10, even.

$96 over a period of 4-6 years is not bad.

Well, even “Fuller Retard” if that’s possible.

California’s Education Department has issued an “Ethnic Studies Model Curricu-lum” and is soliciting public comments on it until Aug. 15. The legislatively mandated guide is a resource for teachers who want to instruct their students in the field of “ethnic studies,” and was written by an advisory board of teachers, academics and bureaucrats. It’s as bad as you imagine. ...

Begin with economics. Capitalism is described as a “form of power and oppression,” alongside “patriarchy,” “racism,” “white supremacy” and “ableism.” Capitalism and capitalists appear as villains several times in the document. ...

Teachers are encouraged to cite the biographies of “potentially significant figures” such as Angela Davis, Frantz Fanon and Bobby Seale. Convicted cop-killers Mumia Abu-Jamal and Assata Shakur are also on the list. Students are taught that the life of George Jackson matters “now more than ever.” Jackson, while in prison, became “a revolutionary warrior for Black liberation and prison reform.” The Latino section’s people of significance include Puerto Rican nationalists Oscar López Rivera, a member of a paramilitary group that carried out more than 130 bomb attacks, and Lolita Lebrón, who was convicted of attempted murder in a group assault that wounded five congressmen. ...

Such a curriculum presents a serious problem of fairness to students. In a course titled “Math and Social Justice,” will you be graded on having correct answers on the math or politically correct answers on social justice?

This curriculum explicitly aims at encouraging students to become “agents of change, social justice organizers and advocates.” In the sample unit teachers are directed to have students plan “a direct action (e.g., a sit-in, die-in, march, boycott, strike).” Teaching objective history clearly isn’t the goal. Rather, it’s training students to become ideological activists and proponents of identity politics.

“Math and social justice?” WTF is that? Because Johnny thinks 2+2=5 does not mean the world is unjust.

What a freak show CA education has become.

Wall it off, deed it back to Mexico
It never belonged to Mexico. Was Cuba and the phillipines, Mexico? I understand the sentiment, but....

Are you going to tell us you fall for the myth that ebooks are cheaper than printed?

Love how LA spent a billion dollars with a B on iPads only to have the kids hack and use them for games and porn in one day.

And oh yeah. The LA school district boss just happened to be dating the Apple Rep.

Who said we were limiting this conversation to elementary textbooks, for pity's sake? They're not the ones who typically have the expensive textbooks. What are you talking about???

Again, trying to follow your crazy conversations are a bit of a waste, anyway... Not sure where these $60.00 textbooks are. If they are in college, you can find a used one cheaper on Amazon...

How is that indoctrination?

Despite your OPINION of them, they did great things in history. Your self-loathing apologistic whining aside.

They also did awful things... This country was built on slavery and genocide. Admitting that is actually a good thing.

Maybe we shouldn't do the Disney Version of history.

K Joe I am talking about school districts purchasing curriculum. School districts cannot purchase used textbooks on Amazon.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

They were selfish Aristocrats who had no concern for the common man.

Let's be honest, what would America be like if Washington and his cronies had lost.

We'd be Canadians. OH MY GOD, the HORROR of it all! We'd have probably ended slavery without a civil war, we'd have universal health care. We'd like hockey instead of football.

What made America great is that we had people like Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt and FDR and MLK and Susan B. Anthony who fought for true equality. We still have a long way to go.

K Joe I am talking about school districts purchasing curriculum. School districts cannot purchase used textbooks on Amazon.

If they are spending $185.00 for a new textbook, and aren't recycling them, they kind of suck at the purchasing thing.

Hey Joe why don't you explain the process for getting curricula approved in a school district. Go

2+2 could equal five if you really think about it...

Jamal and Pedro rent a apartment with Thelma and Louise but they sneak in Juan so even though you see the two men and two women on the lease the total is five because Juan snuck in without anyone noticing...

So yes 2+2 can equal five if you really think about it and you capitalists are racist too forget about Juan and his plight too sneak into the equation...

( As Toro sit there and wonders am I working for the State of Kalifornia edukational system, well no )

*** yes sarcasm ***
