And of course that would necessarily weaken the USA. Renewable, wind and solar don't work at night, they both work less in winter, being very inefficient you must build thousands of times more.

Coal plants have an average lifespan of 50 years and and can be to last much longer. It is a good way to encourage other sources of energy

Coal plants built 80 years ago, without the aid of computers last over 60 years

Coal plants today can be built to last 100 years.

Commercial Solar and Wind last 10 years or less.

How does short lived, expensive, inefficient, less power replace coal

Yes, outside of storms or fronts moving in most nights are calm. Wind is largely created by the heating and cooling of the earth, as clouds move across.

There are areas where the high desert meets the low desert, like in the palm springs area that creats wind.

Close to mountains are good areas for wind, due to many factors

Where low pressure systems meet high pressure systems there is Wind

Outside of specific areas and specific conditions, at night is mostly calm

Nuclear power, especially if we start recycling the fuel, could definitely be part of suite of alternative sources of energy we can use as we wean ourselves off fossil fuels.

Wind and solar are fossil fuel dependent, increasing the use of fossil fuels.

these technologies should develop as we get better at building them.

Do think we should not even attempt to develop these technologies? I do agree we should not cripple ourselves going from coal to wind, solar, possibly nuclear, and and down the road maybe hydrogen fusion.
