BBC's "The Mormon Candidate"

Anyone that believes anything the BBC sells is as naive and gullible as they come.

1) did you watch the show?

2) Can you actually cite anything in the show that was factuallly incorrect.

Now, putting my bias out there as I always have, there was not one thing in this special that was actually news to me. I've heard all of it before, some from Ex-Mormons.

Neighbors of mine are Mormon. Own a steel fabrication shop down in Roswell, Ga. Family business for 60 years with the father retired.
Will not find more honest, genuine and hard working folks anywhere.
Lots of negative wrong stereotypes of different folk I have heard over the years such as blacks stink, Polish are stupid, Jews are selfish and stingy, women should know their place, gays are immoral and perverts and Mormons want to take over the world.

The thing is, Mormons want to take over the world is actually in their scripture.

And it's a goal they are working towards...

God will rule not man. You want to worry about a religion that wants to take over the world by men? That would be Islam.

The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints does NOT support nor condone Plural marriages. Has not done so since the early 1890's. No underage wives either. The first lesson by a missionary is to teach you about Joseph Smith and the restoration.

You have everything wrong, your source is wrong.

But you see, here's the thing. The Founders of the Church, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, DID condone and practiced plural marriage.

And then their successors were told by the United States GOvernment, "You make polygamy illegal or we aren't admitting Utah to the Union."

And then whichever mutant got the job after Young decided God gave him a revelation. Polygamy was bad... Unless you moved down to Mexico like Pratt Romney and kept your plural wives.

I don't have a problem with Plural Marriage as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult. But today, the LDS harrasses splinter groups that still practice it because it reminds everyone it used to be their philosophy.

Well, they have had 1300 years to do it, and frankly, they really stopped expanding some time ago... so I don't sit up at night worried about it.

I think if we stopped going over to the Middle East and fucking with them, maybe they'd leave us alone.

Kind of like if you come across a Hornet's nest, you can walk around it or you can stick your fist into it... The results are kind of predictable.

BBC- British broadcasting company. What's the #1 name for male children in the country formerly known as England? That's right it's Muhammed. Why doesn't the BBC do a story on Islam? Riots in the street? For the record the democrat senate majority leader gave a speech at Brigham Young University in 2008 and told the audience "the democrat party mirrors the values of the Mormon religion".

Notice they don't worry about Harry Reid being a mormon

he got that D after his name I guess

Well, here are some things that I learned about Mormonism from a couple of specials that I've seen on the news.

1. They don't believe Jesus was born to a virgin.

2. They have a mandatory tithe of 10 percent of your gross income, which is set by the bishop of your church after discussing your finances with them. Oh yeah.......Romney was a bishop for a time.

3. Those tithes that a person is required to pay go towards buying food for the needy and those down on their luck, which is stored in large wharehouses. Access to these places is approved by the bishop who also gives you a shopping list that the store will fill. The whole setup for this thing sounds pretty socialist.

Are Mormons "real" Christians? Dunno, but other Christians may have a problem with the fact that Mormons believe Jesus was conceived in a more "normal" fashion.

I world say if he opens 5 more years of Taxes he will
find that church at his door ASAP! 10% of his 1% ass and I believed they
excommunicate for this but as a
1%er I'm sure they will keep him around to go back many more years no

Wow... the sad thing is you believe this horseshit....

Top 100 Baby Names UK | Mindful Mum

Top baby boy name of 2011 in the UK? Harry.

Mohammed did come in #19, though. Muhammed did come in #22. and Muhammad came in #63. Maybe all combined, they'd be up higher, or something.

And yes, I think we need to send Harry Reid to the same Cult Deprogramming we send Mitt to.

Harry's not running for President.

he can make policeis more easily than ROMNEY if he were President..

I think you vastly overestimate his power... Trent Lott described being the Majority leader of the Senate as "Herding Cats"....

Fact is, until the happy day we declare LDS a cult and start the mass deprogramming, we are going to be stuck with Mormons in Congress from Utah and Nevada...

The presidency is where we need to draw the line... if we're smart.

So you support violating the Constitution and the law of the land all because you have a personal dislike or hatred? How about we violate laws based on other peoples dislikes and hatreds? Exactly where does that get us? Anarchy of course.

Oh, John Sweeney, the BBC's cult hunter. Sweeney has a history of hatchet jobs on every subject he "investigates". The entire documentary was negative from the start to finish, typical BBS BS.
Calls it "the fastest growing religion". That is a fraud from the start. What was it, 5 minutes into the "documentary" and they are showing hard core fundamentalist groups. Hardly Romney and the typical Mormon. Supposed to be about Romney's faith?
When do we meet the polygamists Joe?
Only a complete dumb ass buys into that documentary.
Hokey Pokey drama presented as fact.
Hey Joe, when did the documentary EVER SAY that Mormonism STOPPED POLYGAMY?
John Sweeney, the dude who shows up at Hollywood events and yells at John Travolta "Are you a member of a sinister brainwashing cult?"
The part where they said former CIA agents are on the payroll to follow everyone and anyone is very believable, huh Joe?
To sum up this "documentary" all it amounts to is that Sweeney says that Mormonism's crime, IN THE PAST, has been fundamentalism and polygamy.
As often is the case and suckers buy it hook, line sinker, facts are often deployed as caricature. MLK Jr.s love of the ladies, a factual history, says nothing useful of his work in an important part of our history, the civil rights movement. The dropping of the atom bombs on Japan is not the entire story of our war with Japan. But Sweeney operates in a different way.
All he did was dig up every possible negative misadventure OF THE PAST with the Mormons AND NEVER presented anything concerning the current contemporary religion of Mormonism.
The vast and overwhelming majority of Mormons can not relate and do not see themselves as anything at all similar to anyone depicted in Sweeney's "documentary".
Sad fact that the American public, and most importantly the British public, could have used a sensible education about the Mormon faith.
The Brits deserve much better, they FUND the biased BBC.

The Mormons have no problem violating the consitutution by imposing the only theocracy we have in this country....

Personally, I'm tired of dangerous cults that screw with kids heads and hide behind the First Amendment to protect their shennanigans.

As a wise man said, "The Constitution is not a suicide pact."

Nice rant, man.

Okay, his other cult investigation was into the Scientologists, who pretty much deserve as much abuse as they can heap on them. I'm not sure what other cults he investigated...

The Mormons call themselves the "Fastest growing religion"... so he's guilty of repeating their own hype. Of course, it's not really true, as about half the idiots who sign up for the Cult drop out when they've resolved whatever made them want to sign up for a cult to start with.

All he did was dig up every possible negative misadventure OF THE PAST with the Mormons AND NEVER presented anything concerning the current contemporary religion of Mormonism.

Not at all. He didn't mention the Kirtland Bank Scam, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, Joseph Smith's various convictions for Fraud in New York... the Danite terror squads they used in Missouri. Frankly, he really didn't delve deep into Mormonism's whacky history at all.

Hey Joe, when did the documentary EVER SAY that Mormonism STOPPED POLYGAMY?

I thought that it was very clearly stated the mainline LDS stopped Polygamy in 1890. And frankly, I thought he treated the polygamist splinter groups pretty decently. He went into their homes and they explained their family lives pretty well.

What I found rather interesting is how the LDS themselves are going after these poor people, who are probably practicing the faith closer to what Joseph Smith did, because they are all kind of embarrassed about it now.

And this is one of the things that always has annoyed me about LDS... the mendacity of the faith. They don't like to talk about their history, their beliefs, etc.

You whine about how the "biased" BBC is funded by the British Government and asking these questions, I'm wondering why the big corporate funded media ISN'T asking these questions.

No, only in Birmingham is it #1 and that is with the other 12 variations of the name.
It remains #16 in the UK list and that is with over 50% of the Muslims having that name.

Just as weak as Sweeney's "documentary".
All you ever require is anything that fits your ideology, facts be damned.

No, you are the one who lives in mortal fear govenrment might start working for the working man again, and gosh darn, you are willing to turn it over to the whackiest cult out there.

What embarrasses me is that you don't believe in talking snakes and other such nonsense any more than I do...

But you're willing to sell out to get what you want...

I worked 70 hours last week but to you that is not "a working man" because you are jealous and envious that I work harder than you do thus having more money than you do.

You could do something about that such as getting off your ass but instead you make up lies about how I hate "the working man".

That "documentary" was focused totally on biased disgruntled former members and you believe they have credibility. Almost all of this was spent on people that have left the chirch, do not like the church or were excommunicated from the church. You do not like the church so you agree with all of the opinions. You are as biased as they come.
Pity both sides if you are ever on a jury. You have no ability to sort fact from fiction.
