Atlanta teachers convicted for cheating and racketeering. 7 looking at 20 yrs

what the issue is that the black students are too stupid to pass the tests and the incompetent affirmative action black teachers
, had to cheat b/c the whole broken black education system is a waste of white taxpayer money

It depends where you live. Where I live the public schools far outperform the charter or private schools. Yet those schools which are doing well are under attack and are having funds slashed every year. Good luck finding good dedicated teachers if you keep it up, yet for the most part the us isn't all that interested in good schools. Businesses need low wage workers to fulfill their workforce. An educated society is a severe threat to the system.

So, the conservative mania for test scores has created the results the liberals predicted it would. No surprise there, the liberals being right again.

If you fire or promote teachers based on test scores, that encourages cheating on the test scores. The best cheaters will prosper. If you encourage cheating, you'll get more of it. It's a basic economics type thing, which is probably why the conservatives fail to understand it.

There's not one thing in this country that doesn't have the dirt under its nails from conservatives fucking with it...from voting, to immulization shots, to wars, to the banks failing, you name it, them folk has a finger in it.

When will the ass ho's get it....a hungry child, a displaced child, an abused child, neglected child....can't learn. Stop blaming Miss Michum, because Sha Na Na and Pam don't give a damn at home!!!!
Did your head just explode?

If you are going to judge using test scores

1). Teach only to the test, nothing else otherwise what is the point?
2). Give kids more than 1 opportunity to take the test.

Those who complain the most could never ever teach in a million years. They would shrivel up. Weak minded dolts they are. Inferior.

* Michael Pitts, a former schools executive, was accused of telling teachers to cheat and then telling them not to talk to Georgia Bureau of Investigators who were looking into the scandal. He was ordered to serve seven years in prison, perform 2,000 hours of community service and pay a $25,000 fine.

Why did he get one of the longest sentences when all he did was advise them to cheat and didn't do any actual cheating himself? That is mighty strange.

Couldn't that be interpreted as freedom of speech?
He's the leader who issued the marching orders.
He committed the ultimate sin of lying to law enforcement.
Worse yet, he lied and deceived the top law enforcement agency in the State.....The GBI is Georgia's version of the FBI.....You don't lie to them. And the reason is, when a person is suspected of committing a crime, the GBI already has all the evidence it needs to get a conviction. Their investigators are very thorough. The GBI does not bring cases unless there is a virtual 100% chance of a conviction...These are not ordinary police. They are highly trained professionals with masters degrees in Law, criminal science or criminology.

Because he hindered the investigation and told them not to talk to investigators. And telling others to commit crimes..that's why Charles Manson is in prison. He never actually killed anybody himself you know.

Don't say anything sounds like a common sense thing to say that could occur in a conversation, and telling someone to do something isn't necessarily serious.

It is common for people to tell others to not say anything when you are arrested.
Holy crap.....Are you really a thinking person?
The cover up, being ordered to not speak to the GBI, was given long before any arrests were made.

teaching to the test isn't as bad as it's made out to be.

"the test" requires that the student learn certain concepts, strands of learning

a 2nd chance if they get close ?
our school has the students come in before school for tutoring

90% pass rate to begin with, the other 10% that fail the test pass at another 90%

not bad. eh?

They're progressive criminals.

Is there any other kind?

Yep, libertarian/republican criminals. Coke brothers, rick scott to name a couple. Cokes stole oil on government land, scott's company bilked medicare for billions. Scott now a governor and the felonius coke brothers are allowed to buy and sell republican candidates.

What they did is wrong no doubt. That being said, there are no capable teachers out there that would work a god awful job like that for shut wages. Putting up with Americas ilk in an big city area and then being told to make sure they test well is purely set up to fail from the get go. If you want better teachers you had better step up and pay them to attract them there. Then we had better start kicking failure parents in the rear really hard too with big time fines for truancy, not turing in work, etch as parents share a big big part of the blame. If the parents knew hot to parent their kids wouldn't be so far behind. They want the schools to do everything. America is not, repeat no exceptional.
Government schools turned over to unions to run is the problem. You want good teachers, good pay and results? Vouchers.

Testing is so unfair.
No minimum requirements for grade advancement either.
Whats needed are classes on diversity, multi-culturalism, the evils of capitalism, Americas war mongering past, institutional racism and criminal injustice.
This way everyone can have an imaginary PHD in critical thinking.

Only in America, can we sentence stupid teachers to 20 years for cheating and allow cops, who without video to gun down black men and lie, not spend one damned day in jail...This country will rule the day, they allowed their priorities to get this fucked up!!

Not only that but who wants to be a teacher when if you cheat you serve more time than someone who kills someone.

America is always finding some new ways to fill their for profit prisons

Because it sounds like he was the instigator in getting the cheating going and then told them not to cooperate with the investigation.
Plus he's in a position of power...they were getting bonuses and stuff for cheating.
I'm pretty sure his bonus was directly tied to their test results.
Absolutely.
The sad part is the Atlanta School District offered a bonus for meeting minimum requirements.
In the real world, a bonus is a reward for exemplary performace

No Child Left Behind

Not enough real criminals to fill the prisons. It's scary to see such a wack job on the bench.

You have to appreciate some of those interviews with "educators" that can barely speak decipherable english.

Some of the grade schoolers are more intelligent.

Yes, because a policy meant to improve the education of our youth is a good reason to commit felonies that result in those children receiving no education at all.

Atlanta cheating scandal teachers go to cells in hand-cuffs Eleven educators face up to 20 years in prison for inflating their students test scores to get money for their schools . . . and for themselves Daily Mail Online

I bet they thought with Holder as AG and Obama as POTUS nothing would happen

Great role models for the youths to see their mentors off to the cell in handcuffs

What the hell does Obama and Holder have to do with any of this? You people seriously need to get a fkken life, like enough of the hate, seriously!!

Since they were tried in State court Obama and Holder couldn't refuse to prosecute them. I do hate teachers that short change their students to get a lot of money. Do you?
