Once the Constitution is opened up for amendment they will flood the convention with everything including the kitchen sink that they want to force down everyone else's throats, like making their fake Kristianity the only legal religion.

Notice how the left hates this idea. Why? Simple really-------->if you take power from Washington, then they have to get control of states, and they can not do it without illegal immigration! They won't be able to impose their will by winning Washington any longer; and one of the 1st things that a convention would do is................put a mechanism in to over turn the Supreme court!

How the way to make things wonderful is to create a government edict! They know best for everyone, and to implement it, they need to control Washington, and Washington has to control the country.........all of it!

Interesting I read the summary of SJR1. It appears to apply term limits and set the compensation of state and local officials. Sounds good to me, what's the problem Libs? There is no upending of the Federal government here, why don't you read it?

Yes, term limits for Congress. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it.

Congress had no problem putting term limits on the Executive branch, citing corruption as the need for it, but they will NEVER do that to themselves. They are too busy jerking off on the internet or paying off women for sexual abuse using taxpayer money to the tune of some $17 million over the years.

Trust me, it's the only way to get rid of idiots who run on repealing Obamacare for decades and when they finally have the votes decide not to all of a sudden.

I would say about the only way for Dims to start supporting the Article V movement would be to end their sanctuary cities, or something to that effect. Problem is, even though they hate Trump he is powerless over them and all the laws are to their liking on such issues as abortion and gay marriage etc.. Dims know that Trump will be gone in 4 years and it will be business as usual, and the last thing they want if for conservative states to have self rule of any kind. The only good conservative voice is a dead one.

Just imagine an impotent federal government, and fifty warring states arguing over trade, borders, easement rights (for landlocked states), and a gigantic range of other petty issues.

The early history of the U.S. proves this point. But, when have conservatives ever learned the lessons of the past? That's right, never.

There’s room to decentralize away from the federal government without having these problems arise. Almost all conservatives I’ve ever heard from are supportive of current US Constitution over something like the weak Articles of Confederation. And I’d posit that arguing over “a gigantic range of other petty issues” is one of the problems with trying to dictate too much policy from the federal level.
