Are there any positives at all to attribute to Capitalism?

1) communism is inherently small-scale and tends toward confederated systems such as the FEC

What are you babbling about?

Twin Oaks, for instance, is ~ 100 people.

As the Greeks found out long ago, direct democracy doesn't work on the large scale.

OOOOoOOOOOO.....100 people.

:eusa_eh:

Unbelievable

You seriously expect anyone to believe that your absurd example The FEC of what must be less than 300 people living within the USA's borders, could independently exist anywhere on the planet.

:lol::lol::lol:

Wealth is earned? Interesting comment, explain how Paris Hilton 'earned' her wealth? GWB seems to have 'earned' a considerable fortune too. How exactly did he earn his wealth?
Earned implies labor, does it not? Of course great wealth was accumulated by the forebearers who redistributed their wealth to their progeny, Paris and George.

GWB earned his wealth largely through the sale of the Rangers.

Paris Hilton is an outlier. Making public policy on fringe freaks like her is bad for society.

So, how exactly did GWB earn the money to buy the Rangers?

He borrowed money from a bank, and co-invested with other investors.

Bush is fortunate enough to be from a financially successful family with connections. The criticism I have is the taxpayer funding for the Rangers Stadium.

The fact is we live in a regulated market economy with benefits paid by most of us to some of us. The recipients are the poor and the wealthy (the investor class). Those who provide the entitlements to both are the industrious middle class, currently under attack by the power elite whose greed is unrestrained.

The only reason they can function is due to the economic benefits of capitalism.

1) communism is inherently small-scale and tends toward confederated systems such as the FEC

2)There is no command-and-control under communism. Such is impossible in a communist system by definition.

Tell that to the Chinese.
Learn what communism is before you make an even bigger idiot of yourself.

China is, if anything, much like the USSR: an authoritarian bureaucratic collectivist oligarchy. There is a limited market, but it is limited almost entirely to members of The Party and those who can buy their favour.
You display a very poor understanding of human nature.

You display a total ignorance of communism. And of capitalism. And of pretty much all other systems.
Corporatism and abuse of power are not Free Market Capitalism.
They are the natural result that has always followed from 'free market' capitalism.

Humanity cannot afford to allow a free market to exist. History has proven that.

United Fruit Company ....., Sam Zemurray (nicknamed "Sam the Banana Man") sold his Cuyamel Fruit Co. to United Fruit and retired from the fruit business.

***snicker***

Does anyon really retire from the Fruit Business?

I'm convinced that once one is a Fruit Man, you're always a Fruit Man.

Sorta the antithesis of the Marine Corps.

1- What "entitlements" do the rich receive?
2- What portion of "entitlements" to the poor are paid by the rich?

All of what you are citing as examples of collectivism are small scale and voluntary - quite different than a monolithic command and control economy based on communism.

Capitalism is also voluntary.

3)Capitalism is voluntary? Tell it to Guatemala, the kids in the sweatshops, the average man or woman in the US prior to the successes of the labour movement, any colony...

Russia and China are not small.
Nor are they communist civilizations. What's your point?

Capitalism promotes industry.

You(loosecannon) may not consider that an attribute, but it is in terms of some of the ways man gives himself purpose/definition in a society.

Strangely enough, charity/welfare tends to act against mans industrial nature when it is applied without a way for the individual to assert his own worth to himself.

When religious orgainzations offer charity/welfare, they tend to wrestle with problem of how to keep the individual from becoming too reliant on them. The same problem is wrestled with leaders of functional governments.

But when it comes to wide-eyed communists rebels, the problem is changed into "How do we use the misfortunate?"

You are a complete an utter ignoramus. On a large scale, your Utopian Ideal of Communism will ALWAYS end up turning into brutal totalitarianism.

And the twee little cooperatives you cry up can only exist when they feed off the cost effective resources provided by free markets.

I really wish the pols would stop handing out our money to the rich and poor.

All this spending is getting out of hand and our capitalist market can't bear the brunt of this foolishness much longer.

Capitalism promotes industry.
Capitalism, as an economic system, most closely resembles human nature, in that people are free to act in the manner they believe will best further their own best interest.

As such, people are free to do what they want to do, so long as is does not unjustly harm others - which is why ther is a government, to protect others from that unjust harm.

Because of this, and within that context, there is no limit to the wealth that can be created, or on whom may create it.

I get the distinct impression most you don't understand the distinctions between

-the capitalist stage of sociopolitical and economic development within a society
-capitalism as a sociopolitical system
and
-the capitalist mode of production

I also get the impression none of you know what communism is or the real reasons it's not a viable system- even though I just explained it to several of you idiots on the last page.

Humanity cannot afford to allow a free market to exist. History has proven that.

Really?

What has been the market system that's been in existance for the past 10,000 years?

JB is doesn't want to allow a free market to exist. He clearly is unable to compete on his own merits.

It's like you're trying to prove how stupid you are.

1)There's no such thing as large-scale communism

2)link to any posts anywhere on this forum where I have ever at any time advocated communism

Oh contraire, you babbling blob of bogosity.

Communism is not viable because it goes against the natural self-interest of competent people. The only people who support it are the parasites who cannot compete, and the brainwashed minions of those who wish to be in control of dividing up the spoils.
