There's a popular theory in Iraq and Iran alleging a conspiracy between the CIA and the success of IS inside Iraq:

"The prevalence of the theory in the streets underscored the deep suspicions of the American military’s return to Iraq more than a decade after its invasion, in 2003.

"The casual endorsement by a senior official, though, was also a pointed reminder that the new Iraqi government may be an awkward partner for the American-led campaign to drive out the extremists..."

"Mr. Obama has pledged not to send combat troops, but he seems to have convinced few Iraqis. 'We don’t trust him,' said Raad Hatem, 40.

"Haidar al-Assadi, 40, agreed. 'The Islamic State is a clear creation of the United States, and the United States is trying to intervene again using the excuse of the Islamic State,' he said."

IS is just the latest in a line of boogeymen used to rally public support for US overthrow of the middle east. Before fixating on every little thing supposedly going on, try to keep your eyes focused on the big picture. US' power globally is due to oil. There's a finite supply of oil in the world. Without oil the US isn't a superpower any more. Middle east has a lot of oil and who controls it is usually in flux. If the US can wade in and seize control it ensures its' role and military might for decades to come. If we remain hands-off mid-east oil, someone else will gain control and become at best a rival, at worst the defacto global ruler. We want the defacto world world to be us. Hence our need to continually meddle in mid-east affairs. But without public support, no politician can do much of anything. No better way to drum up public support for wars than to elevate a threat over there we need to go stop. Hence Hussein. al-Qaeda, and now Isis.

Don't you believe it.

Called it weeks ago. ISIS, while bigoted and evil, is merely a pawn in President Obama's plan to create an independent Kurdistan, giving our ally Israel a friendly nation in the area at last.

Everything President Obama says.

The USA And the Islamic State are only united where The US Funds them.
Barbara Lee (still) speaks for me:
"It has been thirteen years since Congresswoman Barbara Lee cast her lonely vote against authorizing President Bush to launch what she warned could be an ill-defined and endless war.

"Days after she cast that vote, the California Democrat appeared before hundreds of students at Mills College in Oakland and was greeted for the first time by the chant, 'Barbara Lee speaks for me.'”

Barbara Lee Was Right in 2001. She s Still Right Now. The Nation
