No matter how you want to describe it, this was not a mass shooting. The gun is immaterial. It would have been something else. The man was intent on murder. If anything, the gunman was better at shooting than the cops. He actually hit what he was aiming at.

The question is, was Johnson a danger to anyone else? Likely not since he didn't even try to shoot anyone else. He intended to shoot one man and did. If he did not have a gun, he would have used a knife, or a baseball bat, or some other weapon, a brick to the side of the head.

The incident in NYC was not one of mass murder, not even mass shootings. A man shot another man. He didn't shoot anyone else. Then the police started shooting and hit nine people, none of whom died, and they hit the shooter who did. The police need to go down to the range and practice.

Many studies have shown how hard it is to hit what you are aiming at when: someone is shooting at you, there is a crowd, your adrenaline is really pumping, you and your target are moving and you are scared and don't exactly know the situation.

Do you really think those cops were not trying to hit just the guy with the gun? And still ended up causing injury to what, 7 different people.

They would have done better if 20 civilians who liked to hang out at the gun range been armed instead.

How bad are the police? 16 rounds were fired and seven of them hit bystanders. The gunman never shot anyone beyond the intended victim.
