America Is So Fucked...

Why? Because of the debt crisis? Because of lack of job growth? Credit rating downgrade?

Yeah, all of the above, but the main reason is because your political in fighting. You guys are so concerned about the win you don't give a shit about trying to fix this mess. Thread after thread on this board is "It's Obama's fault".."It's the right's fault"..The hatred is so deep and so bitter - and you give the loons like Bachmann and whoever her left-wing equivalent is, the time of day - that is going to sink your country.

And don't blame your politicians - reading on this board you guys are jsut as bad as them - you voted for them and you support them.

Of all the political systems I see from day-to-day - British, Aust., NZ, US - other European countries - the US is by far the worst for vitriol and partisanship. THIS is what is going to kill the American Empire in the end, NOT a credit downgrade, GFC...They are the symptoms, the partisan hackery is the cause...

Elections have consequences- admit your mistake, you voted for the absolute wrong guy, Dr. Grump. Obama spends 4.1 billion dollars a day, Bush spent 1.2 billion a day, Clinton spent 547 million a day- there's your answer- WE SIMPLY CAN NOT AFFORD THIS PRESIDENT- he is a committed socialist through and through and Socialism " is the creed of ignorance, the gospel of envy and the shared equality of misery." Winston Churchill. Don't be fooled again.

Yes, America is fucked up right now.

But it has been fucked up before, worse than today.

I have no doubt that Americans will eventually get through this and resume their place as the greatest power on the planet.
In 1993 we passed the Deficit Reduction Act. It increases some taxes and lowered others. We also passed other deficit reduction bills and welfare reform a few years latter. By 2001 we had a 48% increase in GDP, a 75% increase in federal revenue, and 4 years of surpluses or nearly so. During this time Congress was spit for 6 of these 8 years. The two parties were just as contentious as they are today however, they were not blinded by political dogma to the extent that they would see the country rot in hell before giving in to the opposition. We can work together to fix our problems or we can destroy the country. It’s up to the American people.

There's not a rate in that table for 2007 that takes a third of anyone's income. Stop that.

Are you asserting that none of the total effective Federal tax rates listed on your table approximate or exceed 33%?

KamiKaze,

Thanks for the Characters & their meanings.

Your choice was EXCELLENT ..... bespeaks of your own character.

Love learning calligraphy.

BTW, don't take the NYCrapper seriously, he's a certified Obamarrhoidal stooge.

As you probably know, these LIEberrhoid arseholes invariably LIE and/or DISTORT.

We need tax reform, is correct. A flat tax, as tried in many Eastern European countrires, would be a "tax cut" just in terms of the time and money spent in compliance.

Agreed. Flat tax and no loopholes would be far easier to implement and enforce. OTOH, I think those who are skating along with the loopholes wouldn't be happy and they would use their millions in wealth to persuade Congress to not touch it. We see a lot of talk about tax and tort reform, but we never see anything done about it.

Agreed that it is up to "We, the People". As our national financial problems worsen, more and more people will become motivated to do something about it.

It may simply be more "throw the bums out" votes on election day or it may rise to more protests and even riots. The nation is in pain and if our Congressmen don't do something about it, "We, the People" will indeed remind them to do their duty.

List of protest marches on Washington, D.C..
I went to the Rally to Restore Sanity with my girlfriend. It was a lot of fun.

This is because Bill Clinton could sit down with Newt Gingrich like adults and hammer out a deal. Obama cannot. See the difference?

I don't think so. I wish it weren't so, but I think it is has now gone too far. Not just talking about the massive debt, but I can't see where the jobs are going to come from. It's too big of a country to become service-orientated, and it needs that core manufacturing base. It's all gone overseas now....

Don't get me wrong, I hope it does recover. A strong America is good for the rest of the world...

It will. We will. Changes are in the wind, just sit tight, keep your eyes open and keep sounding off against the destroyers.

Join Twitter. I love being able to just go there and say things like "Eric Cantor is living proof that money can't buy class."

LOL, says the little sheep who takes marching orders from Moveon. We all better LOOK OUT...:lol:

If you want to understand why America is so fucked, just look at this thread.

While some people are trying to discuss the issue of the America?

A huge number of people here are much much more interested in discussing their fellow posters and why they don't like them.

If people are serious about these issues, then attacking the character of other posters is a complete waste of ASCII.

I suspect the 30 points rule is in effect, here.

Hmmm... How about incompatible competing political ideologies, Dick Tracy. ;) Stop the presses. Now that that mystery is solved, what's next? Israel? Iran? Cold Fusion? ;) Why are you picking on Bachmann again? Why couldn't you resist, just this one time. You were so credible up unto that point. :D Fuck. Let's just blame it on Free Speech.

Hey I did say "Bachmann and whoever her left-wing equivalent" ! Insert a name...

Dr. Grump. :) ;)

Statesmanship is in short supply all around the table. We, as a whole, punish it, and so contribute to the problem.

Politics or human nature?
I think human nature.
